to start off, something sinful for breakfast. no wine for this meal, but i do suggest a dark french roast coffee, preferably Peets. musical suggestion: the Orange Tree (Grey Larsen & Andre Marchand) movie afterward: the Red Balloon recipe-- french toast a la foster day old good bread dipped in a buttermilk egg mixture with a bit of freshly grated nutmeg, fried in butter. top with bananas and walnuts sauted in brown sugar, cinnamon and butter until all caramelly. add a tablespoon of good bourbon if so inclined (or pour it on after and light it for special effect). this balances bad for physical with way good for soul. all evens out, see. petey!!!!!!!! happy father's day, you old (and i mean that in the nicest possible way) pal o'mine! i've been thinking about you lately. are things good? are the girls pampering you today? blueberry tart w/chocolate, huh? hmmm. i don't know about that. i'm more inclined to try that grilled pork loin with a coco/chile rub. (see recipe on drivel thread). or sauteed chanterelle mushrooms, heaped atop thin, crispy toasted artisan bread (drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with sicilian sea salt). but, right now, a bowl of cereal will have to do. let's catch up soon... i'm packing (actually, procrastipacking is more accurate) for a trip to the bay area for a couple weeks. first stop, to see Dad for father's day. but i hope to see you here sometime in the near future. i'll check in to be sure you're not having too much fun without me. have a wonderful father's day. give my best to patty (my hero). squarezy -- "i'm in pieces"

Oh, so apropos (to me at least)...to find (nearly three years to the day that SFU's fifth and final season opened with "A Coat of White Primer") that the last Member Created Thread left here alive (albeit, arguably, on life support) from the halcyon days when SFU was actually still itself alive is this one...the irrepressible pasto. All else (beyond the erstwhile drivel and a thread that's never even received a reply) have, as I post this, been (mercifully?) purged and (officially?) archived. All hail, McBeth!!! -- So it goes.

> I completely forgot about > the PG version of Dex....how is it? Is Deb even > shown since "fuck" comes out of her mouth about every > 10 seconds? i've only watched the CBS version a few times. the bleeping is kind of funny, especially when you know what they're really saying. that doesn't annoy me nearly as much as the commercials. bleeping, i can tolerate. but commercials are unbearable, and disrupt the flow, and mood. argh. and i've noticed how some scenes (sex, gore, the usual) are cut, but most of the important stuff is still intact, and for anyone who missed the series on showtime, it's way better than nothing. sunday nights are now jam-packed with great reruns. dexter, breaking bad, the riches and mad men. i wish they'd spread 'em out a little. -- "i'm in pieces"

Thanks for looking, Ian! Barb, the Dexter books are terrific, give 'em a shot if you like that genre. I completely forgot about the PG version of Dex....how is it? Is Deb even shown since "fuck" comes out of her mouth about every 10 seconds? -- ------------------------ "I won't be karma's bitch!!!!"

A drunk was proudly showing off his new apartment to a couple of his friends late one night. He led the way to his bedroom where there was a big brass gong and a mallet. "What's that big brass gong?" one of the guests asked. "It's not a gong. It's a talking clock," the drunk replied. "How's it work?" the friend asked, squinting at it. "Watch," the drunk replied. He picked up the mallet, gave the gong an ear-shattering pound, and stepped back. The three stood looking at one another for a moment. Suddenly, someone on the other side of the wall screamed, "You ass-hole! It's three-fifteen in the morning!" -- "i'm in pieces"

*****hillary's day at the fortune teller... after bill had spent several days campaigning for her and lost his temper many times costin her votes and finally escaping from her overly controlling campaign manager for the evening, hillary sneaked off to visit a fortune teller of some local repute. in a dark and hazy room, peering into a crystal ball, the mystic delivered grave news. "there's no easy way to say this, so i'll just be blunt: prepare yourself to be a widow. your husband will die a violent and horrible death this year just after you lose the election. then the soothsayer looked up and locked eyes with hillary, who was visibly shaken with this news. hillary stared back at the woman's lined face, then at the single flickering candle, then down at her shaking hands. she took a few deep breaths to compose herself. she simply had to know. she looked back, deep into the fortune teller's gaze, steadied her voice, and asked her the big question: 'will i be acquitted?' -- "moral indignation is jealousy with a halo."
