I think the watch and jewelry thing was so that he can't have any identifying jewels on him if he washes ashore (?) I heard that once on some cop show.
I always thought Sil was sick with the fact that he had to murder one of his good friends, and his for a moment his fight or flight went awry. He excused himself to go up on deck. But yes, he still killed him because they are some heartless cold blooded mofos. I'm so sad to see this go!

Well, no therapy would have worked for Tony, because he's unwilling to work on himself. Perhaps, a la "Mr Brooks', a twelve step program for multiple Murderers?
Drug therapy wouldn't have worked--remember in the first season when Tony was tripping on the antidepressants?

Oh out can out geek you on that. I read an interview where DC said that the therapist he saw wrote out an analysis of each character and gave it to him and that she pretty much predicted the way they would all behave. It had to be Newsweek or Rolling Stone.

That's the beauty of solution-focused therapy! The individual can choose whatever he/she wants to work on. The focus is less on what has influenced the person from their PAST; and more responsibility is placed on the client rather than on the shrink.

shab, Livia is based on his mother. he wrote about his mother in therapy, that lead to the sopranos. there is a great NPR interview "fresh air" you can google and listen to.
