86 Degrees of Music

How do we connect the music we love? Words are cheap. How does one song connect to another, for you? Post another song, based on what ever connection you think is important, to the song previously posted. It could be a theme, a feeling, an artist, a special time, a Sopranos episode, or whatever connection is meaningful for you.
If you can, post a youtube or other clip of the song.

I wish I'd heard more of this a long time ago. I'm sure I'd have really gotten into it. Not sure how I missed it.

So you're not familiar with the early Procul stuff? I definitely reccommend the first 3 or 4 albums -- a lot of it had a sound that was sort of simultaneously bluesy and pastoral, but some of it was sort of psychedelic / baroque, but in a restrained way

Some people described em as the British version of The Band, cos of Matthew Fisher's organ sound being so prominent

Yeah, that was sort of unstated element of that performance that makes it hit you on another level, I think

Well, here's a roundabout connection....

I tried to find Procul Harum's Whiskey Train, with Trower ripping it up on guitar. But couldnt find one. So here is this more pensive and reflective Procul tune, which I always liked

A Salty Dog

Wow, no kiddin!

Pretty cool

Speaking of Ray, ever see this? He and Stevie W, doing Livin in the City. Check out Ray doing his social-commentary / preacher-man rap

Well, it IS in a certain genre, and songs from within a genre do have a "style". Some could probably say the same about the blues-rockers / classic-rockers we like -- Cream, the Allmans, Clapton, Stones, the Who, even the Beatles

That wasn't her best song.....she only has 3 on You tube for some reason

In City Dreams - Robin Trower

Great song, and some good pix here too, including several of the phenomenally lovely Patricia Velasquez.
