Doesn't anybody get it? Chase ended the series the same way every single season has ended, no cliffhangers, no closure, no packaging - just the family(ies), usually eating, with all of the agida floating aroound their personal lives and business. Such goes life. But after all of the speculation about whether Tony lives or dies or gets arrested, Chase gave us the only thing we ultimately could accept - we got whacked "it's nutin - it just goes black." I for one thought it was brilliant. Everyone who is complaining is entitled to their opinion and while they are happily back to watching "American Idol." I'll be mourning the loss of my Sunday Family

Actually AJ did exactly what Tony always does. Tony walks around depressed and enjoys a few moments of happiness when seduced by a beautiful woman, or a night of gambling. The Apple doesn't fall far. Carmella and Tony temporarily seduced him out of his depression with the sexiness of a Hollywood job. As for the cat - remember Melfi's article on helping sociopaths - he loves pets...he loved his nephew too. As for the Virgin Mary - don't forget in one of the early seasons when Paulie went to a medium after whacking someone - he is just quirky - now anyone like that?

Chase gave us too many non-sequitors. What's with Pauli and the cat and the virgin Mary? Did Christopher become reincarnated as the cat? The turn around with AJ was a cop out. AJ was clearly losing it and should have continued in that vein. So Tony flops a script in front of him and he turns over. That is not the insecure loser that we know. The sequence with Tony, Carmella and AJ's shrink was totally irrelevant. It's as if there were 100 different scene's filmed and Chase just randomly picked a few for the last episode. I suspect that there will be a lot of people calling their cable company to unsubscribe to HBO.

Put this in a couple of threads, but it confirms this conclusion. Frank Vincent was interviewed this morning on Opie & Anthony radio show. He said that Tony does NOT get whacked at the diner and he and his family live on with all the same problems he has had for the last several years. He said the talk of a movie has centered around a possible prequel story. He said that the bit with Meadow parking the car was suppose to be a joke because she was driving a car with those new fangled systems that can park it for you all by itself.

And I thought I was the only one, I had this all ready to post before getting here , so I will. What happened at the end was a hit, but not Tony or anyone else in the cat. No, the hit was on us, the viewers. We have been peeking into, spying on all of them for years now, thinking no one would notice us. Well someone finally did. They hired the guy with the Arizona plates; maybe Tony maybe Sil, or someone else. So while the family sat there eating onion rings we had out full attention focused on them they guy comes out of the bathroom, hits some thing that makes that last sound and, Bada Bing, we the viewers get whacked, which is why the screen suddenly went black and there was no sound, exactly what a dead person would be seeing and hearing, noting. While for the Sopranos life goes on, just without us peeking/spying on them. It just makes sense out of why the screen went black and silent.

Well one thing for sure when you read all of the angst rage and emotion from viewers you see the purest form of success in media. I have watched all seasons countless times and many episodes I was lukewarm about initially I found way better after multiple viewings. This is brilliant work, I believe over time people who were shocked by the ending will come to realize its brilliance. As Dr. Melfi would say - I think most people mad about the finale have displaced anger about the end of this amazing series.

Yep...."Don't stop believing..." Actually the ending is cool watching again on DVR. It reflects on how close of a family they were. Tony had his 'family' then he has his real family in the end. Also do you notice how he sat facing the door, as to make sure he see's who comes in? Great ending...
