Some of the best music was created in the waning years that were the early seventies. the Beatles may have been gone, but good stuff was happening, I'll start with some ELP ELP- From the beginning This, by the way, is very close, in the beginning, the guitar, to 'Roundabout.' -- We're all travelers on this earth; from the sweet grass to the packing house; from birth till death, we travel between the eternities. -- Edited by glen922 at 06/12/2008 8:07 PM PDT

Hey, Dashiel, No, I was not familiar with that other Hathaway song you posted. I mostly knew his duets with Roberta Flack. Here's a '70s soul-jazz artist I really liked, though: Gil Scott Heron. Of course, you know this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTCQSk2l8bc

I heard this song on the "Golden Oldies" station. Unfortunately, the artist died at an early age. His name is Ronnie Dyson, and the song asks the eternal question "(If you let me make love to you) Why can't I touch you?" I'm not kidding. That's the title. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6VcUbY_M1M -- Edited by Dashiel at 11/30/2008 9:17 PM PST

Thanks for reminding me of one of the Seventies great Keyboard Artists. I had to listen to at least six songs from your post (I actually owned the "Love Island" album and a couple of his CTI efforts). The following is a group I saw during their farewell tour. They were headlining The Spinners (who were also on their farewell tour). It was Los Angeles during the Seventies. The sun shined brightly and the fans were either drunk or high. The group: Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccdTV6H0PPY -- Edited by Dashiel at 11/25/2008 5:49 PM PST

I won't be able to get it out of my head for the rest of the day. Herb has always been one of my favorites. Below is another trumpet song you'll need lips and lungs to play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMKwUCck6IQ&feature=related -- Edited by Dashiel at 11/19/2008 9:25 AM PST

Love this guy (yah, not 70's really) A Taste of Honey - Herb Alpert -- The farther one travels, the less one knows; the less one really knows - George Harrison
