To keep the baseball thread clear of hockey and other winter sports!

Enjoy, people.

I was reading Bill Simmons' piece on the Finals over at ESPN.com and he touched on that; 4-hour BB games--without OT--may be a reality. It already takes 4 hours, sometimes 4 1/2, to play nine innings of baseball, and it's ruining the sport. I'd hate to see the same thing happen to basketball, just in the interest of the sponsors getting their plugs in...

And those two minutes of official play will only take 30 to 45 minutes to complete, with only 10 or 12 commercial breaks

That should be a good series. I may even watch a game or two.. the last few minutes, anyway.

Thanks, rd. But as Nino is fond of saying, I didn't actually play. Heh.

I thought it was a great series; the Penguins never quit. Kind of a drag about how the game-winning goal was scored, but the Wings had an own-goal of their own in Game 5. See? Things tend to even out over time. I was ready to wring Jiri Hudler's neck when he AGAIN took an ill-timed penalty, and there was little excuse for that 2-on-1 at the end of the game. Still.... I'm pretty happy this morning.

Well, you may have to go through Pittsburgh again next year. Looks like they'll be keeping their core with Crosby, Malkin, Staal and Fleury. They'll probably lose Hossa and Malone and they MIGHT have to do something about Michel Therrien. I read this in the Toronto paper:

For one thing, there is a brewing problem between coach Michel Therrien and some of his players -- a number of them despise playing for him.

No one will choose the Stanley Cup final as a forum to call out their coach but there are far too many whispers out there that too many players can't stand working for -- or with-- Therrien.

But how do you get rid of the coach who took you to the finals?

Anywho -- I have to tip my hat to Crosby's boys -- they didn't fold when they were down 2 games to none to start the series. Scrappy bunch.
