I'm surprised that I haven't seen anyone post my own interpretation of the final episode. Tony didn't die, folks... WE did... the AUDIENCE... the relationship between the viewer and the actors, the story - whatever you want to call it... it's over... WE died at the end of that episode, not him. Think about it. That's why the "blackout" was from OUR perspective, not his... It was OUR blackout, not Tony's... am I nuts? this just seems so obvious to me.. thesteve42..... (oops I just noticed that I posted the first topic with all all caps)

I was here on the forums when the show ended & the response was almost universal among everyone here: people were furious over the crazy ending and it WASN'T because Tony didn't get knocked off, it was because of the way the show ended. DC has to know that, since it wasn't just the fans here who complained about the non-ending; several journalists who followed this show were also saying the same thing. So who is trying to fool who? To come back now & blame the fans is the height of arrogance and again, my husband & I absolutely refuse to add to the ratings Mr. Chase. We don't watch the re-runs and why should we buy the DVD's? Our attitude is why in the world would we want to spend even more out of our life watching something that ends so badly?

Gee! Someone who agrees with me. And I agree with you. I'll go as far as saying that everyone I know who was a loyal Sopranos fan was disappointed at the ending, and they were disappointed by the last season or two. If it was only Me, I would chalk that up to being ME. But the overwhelming opinion was that the show ran way too long and had way too many unimportant side stories and dream sequences that were used as filler material. I'm not ready to condemn Chase totally, because he did provide 3 or 4 very entertaining and riveting seasons of The Sopranos. And we are very grateful for that. But he stayed with it for the greed and to mock us fans who patiently and optimistically stayed with the show, expecting better the next week.

My husband & I just ran across the recent comments David Chase made about Soprano fans & I was so incensed, I re-registered here to make a comment (I'd left after the pathetic non-ending to the series). DC has shown his ass again: he has now followed up the badly written ending to the Sopranos with a cannon shot at the fans, claiming that he is sick of all the fans who followed Tony for years, and then were outraged that Tony was not unambiguously whacked in the ending. Is David Chase kidding?? He is either completely out of touch with the Soprano fan base or or he is a cowardly whiner who now wants to blame the fans for his total screw-up of the ending. I don't know of one fan who was clamoring for Tony to get killed at the end. No, Mr. Chase: we just wanted an ENDING. After years of following the story, we'd would have appreciated that, at least. My husband and I are finished with David Chase. HBO, are you listening? We will NOT be attending any resurrection of the Sopranos in a movie, we have refused to buy the DVD's because we know the sorry ending that will eventually come, and we are not interested in any other Soprano-related event/show/merchandise, nor are we interested in watching any other David Chase-produced series. David Chase spit on his long-time, loyal, watched-it-faithfully fans. I don't fund producers who are so disingenuous to blame their fans for their own error in judgement.

Enough already! David Chase is LHAO at all the Sopranos fans who have spent hours mulling over an ending that he put in there to spit in our faces. You all read what he has said about us recently? We've been HAD!

We have to get up for work the next morning. And if we're not the first in our neighborhood to own a copy of the DVD, I think we'll survive. I hope you enjoy it and not get disappointed after all the hype. I'll wait until it goes on sale for $9.95 next month -- Edited by longislandlloyd at 10/23/2007 3:37 AM

alternate ending on sopranos season 6 part 2

whatsup sopranos fans; it is 5:00 in the morning of oct. 23, the release date for sopranos season 6 part 2. I went to wal-mart about 1 in the morning and bought the final piece of my dvd collection. I had heard about an alternate ending being included on the set. for those of you who were hoping for something different i'm sorry there is no alt. ending included. Also; on the "blue comet" episode w/ commentary from steven van zandt, he states that there werent several endings shot, and that the ending that aired was the one chase had written, and is the only one in existence. so if anybody was going to buy it just to see the alt. ending there isnt one. however there is great commentary, and the featurettes, "making of cleaver" and "music of sopranos" w/ chase and zandt. a good investment for hardcore fans. peace out sopranos you will be missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look. The Ending was Made To Play On Your Mind. It's Basically Saying "Create Your Own Ending" So, There is No Answer. Unless The Writer/Director Makes a Sequel. Or Another Series, Which In My Mind Will Never Happen. Gandolfini Hates His Character Most Off The Characters are Dead,Fucked Up In The Head and In a Coma. -- Christopher: Highway was Jammed With Broken Hero's on a Last Chance Power drive.

I agree. Tony's not dead. Wanna know how I know that? Because it wasn't shown on screen.

Was it from OUR perspective when we saw Tony's face when Carmella walked in the diner? No, it was from Carmella's perspective. Was it from OUR perspective when we saw Tony's face when AJ walked in the diner? No, it was from AJ's perspective. Was it from OUR perspective when we saw Tony's face when it went black? No, it was from the hit man's perspective. I gotta go with consistancy.
