> > > I completely agree with the comment about the cast finding work after this mess. I TRIED to watch the first two episodes. I actually enjoy seeing some good sex scenes and I love great acting. But first and foremost, this show is excruciatingly boring. These characters are tedious. Who cares if they can't have a baby, or don't have sex, or can't stay faithful. I sure don't. They have no wit, no charm, no charisma...nothing. And the sex scenes made me feel like a voyeur. It's just a liitle too real. There's a reason we don't have sex in the middle of the front yard. Real sex is supposed to be private. I turned off both episodes after 20 minutes or so, so luckily was spared the hand job and the AARP BJ!

If this is the best HBO can come up with, it's time to switch to Showtime, where at least I can count on Weeds!

Interesting, interesting, interesting. Both my husband and I have worked in the "porno" (adult entertainment) industry.

When my husband first watched part of Ep. 1 with me he said, "This is a porno," and after that whenever the show was on or he saw me watching he would teasingly say, "Your porno show is on." I would joke that, "Maybe it's good that I now have some high quality porno to enjoy.

But, all joking aside, I've worked in the industry and although very sexually graphic and explicit (there are two, dire warnings displayed before each episode!) Tell Me You Love Me is more erotica than pornography. It is not gratuitous sex with ridiculous closeups on anatomy or joining parts. We simply see what we would see if we were a ghost floating in the corner of the room viewing the intimate lives of the characters.

I think the show is wonderful. It is hypnotic and deep - hard to turn away and not just because of the sexual explicitness. I cannot wait to see how the season plays out. I am particularly looking forward to learning more about May.

In a later episode, May is shown having sex with her husband. That scene positively rocked!!! How often do we see older people (who have been together for decades) having intimate and erotic relations in video media?!?? Almost never.

Applauds to HBO for another quality show! Keep up the good work!

And, if like my husband, you honestly believe this show is "porno," simply do what he does - do not watch. If it offends you, turn away or cancel your subscription. It is still a somewhat free country. Speaking for those of us who like the show, I believe it is another breath of quality fresh air from HBO. It is just another reason why I continue to pay my monthly bill with a smile!

Watched it for the first time last nite. This is a porno....not even softcore porn. This is hardcore pornography on HBO. I have nothing against porn, but it's not suppose to be on HBO , where any child or teen can turn on the station at 9 or 10 in their room and see this stuff. To show erect penises and ejaculations on regular cable during primetime has gone too far. I'm a liberal democrat, but this is outrageous. Way over the line....take it off the air or clean it up. I can't believe I saw Jane Alexander giving head to Richard Channing (David Selby) ...yuk yuk...TOO MUCH !!!!

I wonder if Larry notice as an producer that if you have a beautiful woman on any T.V. show, that the more body parts you reveal of the actress the more your ratings goes up. I also wonder if producers/makers of the show notice sometimes as visitors flipping through channels if the makers of the show have an attractive woman/actress showing her feet more often people will come back to watch. And of course we as non-perverted citizens would like for woman/actress to expose there body parts more appropriately. And feet is it. "Cheryl show your toes, I know there perfect!"

"porno (which is defined as plot-less poorly acted and overly unnaturally depicted sex)."

Couldn't have described this load of sh*t better myself!

Shame on you HBO.
Stop blowing money on this garbage and start producing quality TV again- like Sopranos, OZ and Deadwood.

1, Acting-characters are intense thoughtful real
2, photography, lighting, handheld brings realism
3, pacing is reality style and believable
4, edgy showing male privates, older sex, masturbation, the real stuff behind closed doors

Summary Type - Rome meets Sopranos with less violence and more sex, definitely not porno (which is defined as plot-less poorly acted and overly unnaturally depicted sex).

What is wrong with the show if anything is that the viewer wants to escape and not see one's self mirrored back from the tube or flat screen.

I do have to say I love this show... I see myself in every one of theses women. I am only 18 years old, but I have been with my guy for three years... I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and the doctor told me that when I am ready to have kids it might be hard...Seeing what that couple has to go through really helps me now because I have always wondered... I really don't want to force my husband or be so demanding either about having sex... it should be intimate...
Also the couple that has kids I can really see my self getting to caught up in life and not finding time for my husband and I don't want what happened to Kate to happen to me.
Everyone seems to be making a big deal about the older couple having sex but I really hope that just because I get old doesn't mean I stop having sex. I understand that yall don't want to watch it but it is really eye opening for some... like me... I always thought that when you turn oh I don't know 50 you just stop any sexual contact... silly but I did ... anyways I love the show and the actors are fabulous. I can't wait for the next show!

Brilliant characters/story line -- yet subtle in delivery. Each and every one of us can take something away from all the characters in the show -- because unless you've been living under a rock -- you have ALL had these conversations/experiences in your adult lives.

This show will instigate a LOT of meaningful and productive conversations among couples around the world. In no way can John from Cinncinnati -- or even the last season of the Sopranos [ed. note: I used to be the most AVID fan of the Sopranos until the last two seasons...] compete with this show, as it is real -- and it depicts the best of times and the worst of times a relationship can & will endure. I do agree, however, that the writers could find a less homogeneous group of characters -- but maybe that is to come...(??)

I look forward to the rest of this season, and want to thank HBO for saving its own neck from losing a loyal customer in me.

I was excited about this show when I saw the previews. I thought it had poetntial. But I couldn't make it through the first episode. I turned it off about 2/4 of the way through. I was bored, not "turned on" at all. I thought the stories were depressing and the sex looked fake. It's only slightly better than Cinemax after dark as far as storylines.

Drop this horrible show and put JFC back on!

I think this show has great potential and will get better once we become more acquainted with the characters. I really like it, especially the Palek/Carolyn storyline. it's unfair to compare it with a series like Rome.

There was a song playing in the first episode when the young couple meet up at a party, about 15 minutes into the episode, there is a song playing for about fifteen seconds, does anyone know what song that is??

What a dismal excuse for a show. How boring can these couples be? Watch this piece of crap and see for yourself. Once you realize that the fake sex is not that much fun to watch because not one of the characters seems to be enjoying themselves, you will realize that the characters are just as fake. This show makes you want to run, don't walk, to get yourself some Prozac because all of a sudden you are as depressed as the poor losers being exploited.

The writing is terrible, the acting is forced, and there really is no story. And to have a child actor of the age of 10 have to say she has her period - at which point her parents discuss it - and her mother says 'She's only 10 - what am I gonna do, stick a tampon in her? - IS OFFENSIVE!!

HBO has hit bottom with this bomb. I predict it will be gone in 3 weeks latest. Earlier would be better.

This show isn't about intamacy, it's a metaphor for how HBO has lost it's touch putting out a quality series, which they haven't done since the Sopranos ended and Deadwood was cancelled. What better way to say "we have shot our creative "load", than 30 minutes of handjobs and BJ"s! HBO has basically become the R rated LIFETIME channel!
