Again, I really want to watch this show but I just can't seem to...too difficult...even though I am a normal guy, and not a "super hunk" like the actors on the show (while the women are gorgeous super model types, I guess, uh, NORMAL people aren't supposed to watch anyway)...the marital conflicts, hit too close to home...even though in my case it is ME that wants to have sex and my WIFE that doesn't (and won't). john johnboz2001@yahoo.com

I cancelled my subscription today in protest of HBO cancelling John From Cincinnati. they cancelled Carnivale before the story was over. They cancelled Deadwood long before its story was told. Now they've cancelled John From Cincinnati before its story had really even begun! Instead they put on such trash as "tell me you love me" which is deemed an "adult" drama. If by "adult" they mean soft porn, then we'll say it is adult. I do not need to have such views of such body parts offered on my HBO! What I want is thought provoking, intelligent shows! I called today to speak with a consumer affairs representative who listened, did not take my name or information and sounded decidedly bored! Is that what HBO IS offering for Customer Service? We've been HBO subscribers for many years. We honestly never thought we'd cancel. "Bring back John From Cincinnati!"

Again I am turned off by May's behavior. For no apparent reason (to me, at least), she discloses that she's married. Katie looks at her with a surprised expression, which could mean many different things, and without checking this out May goes on to say, "43 years." Given this client, who is clearly full of shame and a sense of inadequacy, I can't imagine how may's disclosure would be anything but damaging. I suspect it was supposed to convey that the therapist is experienced with all things "marital" and therefore can be relied upon for good advice and understanding. More likely, Katie is feeling even *more* inadequate and probably envious. Or resentful. Certainly not understood or cared for. Writers, please fire your couples therapy technical adviser, if you even have one, and get someone who understands how to create safety in the therapy office and how to sit and *listen* to clients, rather than let their own narcissism leak out into the room. I have not yet watched episode 4, but I am anticipating that it will probably push me over the edge of dropping our Season Pass to this show.

Well, I'm watching this show and am a little into it, but I seriously have to question why in the world I'm still giving my money to HBO instead of Showtime after recently renting some of their series. HBO's programming is still better than half of what the networks air, though unfortunately not too much more than half any longer. I also have to say that I'm completely shocked by the sensitivity of American viewers... so the sex scenes are a bit real instead of over-the-top romaticized scenes from a blockbuster movie... so what? It just reminds me of the first time I watched a foreign film and saw something that was actually similar to what really happens to everyone in their bedrooms. Makes the show real and I cannot fathom why everyone must feel so offended by it. Still, I do feel like HBO is continuing its pattern of cancelling one show to make room for the next, worse show. What gives? At this point I feel like I'm sticking with HBO just because I admire their idea about what TV should be and their willingness to create unconventional series. Their programming decisions are just horrific though. Curb is the ONLY thing keeping my subscription at this point... and that's by a thread since I did recently cancel only to get it back free for a few months when I switched providers.

I really like this show. I watched it having seen/read/heard nothing about it. Like I told folks about "Deadwood" which I had also not s/r/h about prior, once you get past the language (which didnt f'in bother me in the f'in least...)--here I would change the word to sex--the show is brilliant. I watched TMYLM and realized I knew someone similar to every character portrayed! I might not know all their intimate details but I identified with these characters in one way or another, sometimes quite depressingly so. This show is more reality than any "reality" show out there and I cant wait for more episodes to develop along whatever lines the writers have in mind. AND...I'm old enough to dig Quentin Collins getting a litttle help from his friend.

This is what I have to say about this show, it sucks me in, i think maybe b'cuz i'm hoping someone in this show will change: 1) Carolyn- I pray that she changes, she's heartless, and she pouts like a child because she can't get pregnant, so she got tested.. is she infertile? we've never heard.. or did i miss it? she's prolly not cuz she's still trying.. but do you think she could maybe remove the bug outta her ass, and act like a normal person for 5 sec. I just don't like her and sometime i wish Palek would just leave her. 2) Jaimie- she's young she's beautiful, yet she's totally inlove with a trashy greasy looking school teacher who cheats on her... i find her sad, and i find her weak, and i hope she changes. 3)Katie- whom i love for fighting for what she wants but needs to realize the problems start within... she doesn't even feel comfortable masturbating... i mean how can she expect to been seen as a sexual being by her husband if she can't see herself as one. Really all in all.. i watch this show .. maybe because it's like a trainwreck... it's horribly depressing and frustrating.. but my main concern is that these women are portrayed as these obbsessive, weak, unfortable, naive beings. And i don't think the world needs more examples of that... i miss the sex and the city women, the strong independant funny sexually liberated women i loved them!

I have watched this show because I can relate to Carolyn. I have gone through infertility, done IVF and ended up adopting. I agree with another post that the OB/GYN should be making suggestions. I think the writers are doing a good job of showing how getting pregnant consumes your every thought. It seems as though when you can't have something, that is all you can think about. To a few other posts: Honestly, I am sick of TV pushing gay people into my face on every show I see. If your gay fine, whatever, can't they just be like every other couple on TV and not make such a big dramatic deal about it? Another person commented about not having any minorities in it. I have seen plenty of shows that are just blacks, asians, etc. (Tyler Perry anyone?) Do you see white people making a huge deal about it? Not every show has to have every ethnicity in it so you won't feel left out. Congrats on a show that actually shows both genitalia.

Had to do it. I watched another episode. Jamie, is just too immature to marry, Hugo needs to remain far away from that one. Don't Bogart that joint. Katie, can't even play with herself? It's not rocket science!! NO TVs allowed in the bedroom. When the TV is the only thing being turned on in the bedroom who's to blame? Carolyn, no warmth seen there, no maternal glow, no love towards her husband. Palek servicing a specimen cup/having sex with his controlling wife it's all the same. I can't imagine what kind of a parent she would be. Having seen more flesh on this show than I'd care to, my only comment is, haven't these ladies heard of Nair, razors, laser treatments, waxing? Body hair is so gross. Men you too can groom.

Okay, I feel like I should be the one woman to defend the guys. The fact is my husband and I have been married for 11 years and have 4 kids and our sex life is awesome. There is evolution, but I think that our relationship has evolved to a higher level where everything is just that much more satisfying.

I have to say that the only reason my hubby will watch this show with me is because we sit there and laugh together about how much these crazy female characters remind us of real women that we know. I feel sorry for my brother-in-law. His wife (my husband's sister) has the same issues as every single one of these ladies put together! Some of these lines sound so familiar. (unfortunately) >

(Geez I wish I had a cigarette right > now!!) > > -- > "Did you get your end near the lady, my brother?" > Linc, "JFC" Concur! That's too funny! I have not had to resort to "asking my doctor about Lunesta"...having struggled to stay awake through these first three dreadful episodes. I cannot bear to think about these vapid characters anymore and have bailed on them forever. There was more insight on human relationships within this week's "Mad Men"(Go to AMC's "Mad Men" blogs for some thoughtful takes on this great series!) then there could ever possibly be on (God Forbid!) six seasons of TMYLM. It's back to watching reruns of "Twin Peaks" on "Chiller" for me until David Milch comes up with his next opus! "Bring Back John From Cincinnati!"

I WANT MORE > OF THEM...TO LEARN & UNDERSTAND, WHAT IT TAKES TO > MAKE IT LAST... They're invented characters in a TV show. They don't exist in real life. I wouldn't advise taking them as a model of how things should be, or how things might turn out.

Will somebody PLEASE just push Jamie in front of a bus? She is far to insecure to be copntemplating marriage (although Hugo certainly comes accross as a sleaze who probably will cheat on her), and the endless calling him after they broke up. I'll probably continue to watch, but I'll probably fast forward through any scene with Jamie in it.

I agree, Arthur is some cool dude, staying married for that long imagine what they have been through and have discovered about each other. to reach the acceptance stage embracing what is great and wonderful and sexy and bad and naughty and ugly I mean the whole package of a person and to still find them interesting and compelling, to care for and just want the best for them, hey Hugo pull up a chair. But you know I really think Hugo wants the same thing but he said it wrong I mean what he should have said to Jamie is that I may find other women interesting down the line after we get married but I am willing to scratch beneath the surface of you and find your complexity is so fulfilling and sumptuous there is no room or time for another person, that we can go on and on for say 45 years or so.(hmmmm) Jamie will need to learn that marriage is not a ticket and a licence to own or magically contain an individual simply by having a piece of paper but to start a journey together of discovery and wonderful beauty, kind of like going to an exotic land together and pointing out the sights dangers and roadblocks together and enjoying what is around every corner laughing hand in hand.
