Katie is shocked when Dave joins her at therapy--and even more so after hearing what he has to tell May. Carolyn shares a college secret with Palek, who ends up skipping her session and avoiding her calls. Rebuffed by Hugo, a troubled Jamie ends up turning to May for guidance.

About Dave & Katie: I was just wondering....how come Katie doesn't just take the initiative sexually???? I mean really, she should just go and jump his bones. He obviously cannot take a hint. They really do approach their problems together for the most part, so I have no doubt they will make it through their sexual problems. But they sure do make married life look disheartening: minivans, head lice, little league every weekend...yuck!! Jamie had an awesome breakthough in therapy with Mae, it made me think, how would I answer the question if someone asked me, "Have you ever been monogamous?". It's tough to be put on the spot like that. If you're still single, the answer might be surprising. I want to slap Carolyn so badly....you see her making all these bad choices and closing Palek out of the relationship. Does she even realize she's pushing him away?

Actually, this show is starting to cheer me up; makes my relationship problems not look so fucked up. I went to a therapist and I loved it. It was very insightful, I just had to stop because it was too expensive for me. I'd like to see how these couples grow with the aid of therapy since they have the luxury in affording it. So far, the woman wanting a baby is still obsessed, that guy is still not banging his wife because he is bored, apparently, and that girl, Jamie, the only name I can remember, is the only one who's acting out is understandable since she just got her heart broken. She may be a bit neurotic, but I can overlook that. The guy who is married to mrs. baby obsessed better run for the hills. Because Palek(?) may be getting sick of her now, but it will only worsen if she manages to get knocked up. She is in love with the idea of having a baby and managed to fall out of love with her husband. She treats him like a roommate who is there to procreate and then get the hell out. His opinions and feelings mean nothing to her. She will only snap at him like a lion protecting her cubs if he dares even goes near his own spawn. Oh, and the sexless couple needs to get creative. Why doesn't the doc suggest they go to a hotel? Take a vacation? They need to just get away from their creepy daughter (there's something not right about her) and their son and just have a real "adult" weekend or week. At least, in the short term, they can get laid before going back to their bland home.

Great show...we all need to see who we are. I have one problem with the show and that is the men are all too nice. The woman show their power, their fragility, and their mistakes. The men are but mere objects. I have been through what Dave is going through and relate to his problem. However, he is so damn perfect, he doesn't lash out. He doesn't show his frustration. Maybe that's the true love I never had. However, don't make this easy for the people who don't get it. Tell it like it is. Over a period time, if you love her and feel your not sexually satifying her, and that your love life is an imposition to her, and it's all your fault. Then sex becomes a chore and, in your mind, a degrading experience. Masterbation, is just simply a lot easier.

http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2007/10/tell_me_you_love_me_worst_sex.html The difficulty in recapping Tell Me You Love Me is that, well, nothing happens. Last night's episode, in fact, was defined by what didn't happen. Carolyn didn't get pregnant. (Still.) Hugo didn't take Jaime back. Palek didn't tell Carolyn about the cute salesgirl he was flirting with. And Dave and Katie didn't have sex. (Still.) Jaime did have sex, with some creepy sous-chef type who looked like a refugee extra from the short-lived Fox series Kitchen Confidential. In a series that explores, and occasionally revels in, bad sex, this was the worst yet. The sous-chef slammed away while Jaime seemed to be mentally solving a crossword puzzle she'd abandoned earlier. When Chef Grunts-A-Lot was finished, he pulled on his goofy chef pants (maybe they were tear-aways) and kind of slunk off, without so much as a "Thanks, buddy" or "Have a good one." At least we were spared the sight of either of them slipping on a pair of Crocs. Meanwhile, Carolyn and Palek continued to spin their wheels, stylishly. That house! Those clothes! Those chilly silences between them! Some people find Sonya Walger's Carolyn off-putting (*cough* Nussbaum), but we find her fascinating. Most "strong" women on TV are CSI automatons, who demonstrate their "intelligence" through a robotic monotone and their hair in a bun. Carolyn seems both sharp-elbowed and vulnerable, bright and brittle, and totally confounded by the one thing in her life she can't achieve through force of will. But back to the couple we can all love: Sexless Dave and Katie. Dave had a breakthrough of sorts (he joined Katie at therapy) and a breakdown of sorts (he finally opened up about the boner-deflating drudgery of domestic life). This whole therapy scene was the show at its best — or, if you don't like the show, its worst. Rather than well-scripted repartee, we got awkward silences, stammering uncertainty, and, finally, the outburst. In other words, exactly what you might expect, should you be able to eavesdrop on a couple in therapy, and in trouble. —Adam Sternbergh -- Oh, we should bring his mother and your mother here so they can both “shep naches”.

O-< Forever! I cancelled HBO after they "cancelled" John From Cincinnati. I'm so glad I did. From what little I've seen and mostly heard, "Tell Me" is nothing but a soap opera with gratuitous nudity (the chics are hot with smokin' bodies) but this is boring crap! This is the kind of "drama" you can hear at any little league game anywhere in the country. We don't need to be reminded how our marriages are in real life by buying a subscription to an antique pay TV network. At least John gave us something to look forward to other than sex, masturbation, nudity and jealousy. Sorry HBO your better days have cum and gone... Save John From Cincinnati! A few people have mentioned that Carolyn didn't want Palek's baby because of the insemination statement, but she was actually inseminated with Palek's sperm. That's why the doctor said it looked good and Palek said "that's what they tell me" or something to that effect. Just clarifying

I gave the show another try - I really hoped that it would find itself and point us in a direction. But the show is stagnant; it's going nowhere, and I suspect there IS nowhere for it to go. My original criticism was that I felt we'd come into a story halfway through; we didn't know the characters, so how could we have feelings for them. Well, it's four weeks later and we still don't know much -- not much that would shed some light. So I still can't care about any of them. Actually, that isn't exactly true. I feel sorry for Palek - he's married to someone who doesn't love him; she just wants his sperm. Looks like she has a high power job; why not just buy stock in a sperm bank! I thought the scene with Palek in the store, staring at the dad juggling a small kid, a wife giving him instructions on a cell phone, and a cup of hot coffee I prayed wouldn't spill on the little boy told ME that Palek doesn't really want to be a dad. Dave and the door lock also told me that he doesn't want to be intimate with his wife; he's happy with himself just they way they are. SO......since the third couple is split up, we're stuck with two unhappy couples, both men wanting something different but obviously afraid to admit it. Series over. What will HBO air next?

We've all heard about this, but I think in Carolyn's case it's really true: the harder you try to get pregnant, the more your body rejects the idea. I don't know why that is, but there's something about being tense all the time that works like natural contraception. If Carolyn actually conceives, I feel sorry for the kid and Palek. First, every safety pin and diaper will have to be in perfect order...I mean, look at their house!! You could eat off the floors and I can't even imagine a bunch of Fisher-Price products strewn around or her having a hair out of place. Once the morning sickness kicks in, she's going to be whining..then obsessing if she doesn't feel the baby kick...then the actual birth (oh Lord!). From then on she'll be scouring the brochures for the best pre-school/prep-school/Ivy league college...and Palek will be kicked to the curb. Then, of course, she'll have to have a second child.(But, she'll probably have to ask some other guy for that favor). -- "Did you get your end near the lady, my brother?" Linc, "JFC"

Does anyone know what song is playing in the background when jaime is in the bar and tells the guy that she's doing him a favor by not having a drink with him because she's "Toxic"? It's in episode 4. I cant find it and its driving me crazy. I appreciate any help.

ok. so i was caught in the moment after the show. really, i don't want carolyn slapped, lol, i was just sooo angry at her selfishness. and i too felt like she pretty much shoved palek to the side. like "ok, don't need you anymore". ugh. can't wait for this weeks episode. and for those of you who cancelled hbo, well, i got it just to catch the last season of sopranos, was gonna cancel and switch to showtime for DEXTER (woo hooo!) but i think i'll wait. gotta give this one a chance.

I am haunted by the pain all of the characters portray. None of them completely trust their partner, and none are willing to do what is necessary to be worthy of their partners trust. The two who come the closest to mutual trust besides May and Arthur are Dave and Katie. They're so close and yet the life they share keeps them apart. Being a single 40+ male, having lived through marriage wars and therapy, and now reinventing my life after everything came crashing down, this show is a real touchstone. I was curious and I have not been disappointed. I really enjoy May and Arthur's success which tells us that we can have a great marriage if we are willing to put in the work. The story yells us that there has been bumpy roads for them in the past, but they struggled through. Honesty is the only thing that will preserve us and our relationships.
