Carolyn and Palek try a more aggressive approach in their efforts to get pregnant; May suggests a first step to solve David and Katie's intimacy problems; Jamie vows celibacy, but finds Nick, whose own relationship is on the rocks, hard to resist.

Are you kidding me?, let's get real here! Tony T is cool because he's a straight shooter (no pun), know's what he wants, devoted dad and provider, true to his crew/fam, (sardonic wit, some say sexy), and all the while not afraid to let his feelings show. hmmm doesn't that sound like someone else? (hint she doesn't wash her hands) but honestly, I know that you know that that is her character editing moving the story along showing her intensity, just like when she broke the towel dispenser. please that is so not the point of this observation. Still curious

I don't don't think Tony would have been quite as beloved if after using the restroom he didn't give a least a couple shakes to the weasel and done at minimum a cursory job of washing up afterwards. He cleaned up before roughing up Jackie Jr in the club restroom. It is just something a decent human being does automatically. And as for having someone whacked he never took out out anyone that didn't pose a threat to his business interests or he didn't feel morally obligated to eliminate. We all hated Adriana getting it though.

I agree, Proso. I have subscribed to HBO for about 20 years, although there was a gap in there when I missed a couple of years of the Sopranos...ditto on Six Feet Under. I hurried to catch up and have enjoyed Sunday nights ever since. All I can do is laugh at TMTYLM, and I don't take this dive in HBO's programming too seriously. I just hope they'll come to their senses and give us what we are paying for....yeah, it may be $10.00 a month, but it's my $10.00 and I want to be awed. -- "Did you get your end near the lady, my brother?" I am here because I subscribe to HBO, I pay for their services and I am used to being entertained by the best quality TV programming available. I am a loyal viewer and loyalty implies honesty. I can no longer simply dismiss their programming choices. TMYLM has a gallery of uninteresting characters, with minor plot or personality development, weak dialogue and it undeservingly occupies the prime Sunday night spot. All the silent scoffing, sighing, stumbling, eye rolling occasionally interrupted by dry masturbation and brutally boring humping does not make for the groundbreaking adult drama HBO advertised it to be. I know it because unlike most TV critics, I?ve paid to watch it. If it gets better, if it redeems itself in my eyes, I'll let you know. Well said. I am so fascinated with human behavior, especially this board where there is such polarization regarding TMYLM. Without going the to Five Days board I am sure there is most likely the same polarization.(thanks for that answer to my test question btw) More amazing to me is my beloved Tony T, the greatest skipper of the greatest show in HBO history (2nd IMO to 6FU) a fantastic caring loving dad, husband and even to his crew. and yet a cold hard killer and adulterer. Here we have Carolyn who most have criticized for not washing her hands and for wanting and passionately fixated on having a child. It is just so amazing to me. On the one hand we have Tony high on shrooms bangin away chicks left and right and we love him for it (one of my favs btw) and here complaints about Hugo and Jamie doin it in a car (also a fav ep) so utterly fascinating.

The reason they cut Hugo out of the series is because his plastic balls seen in episode one and widely praised by New Yorker TV critic Nancy Franklin in her review of the show, had to be sold on e-bay and the money were used to buy additional publicity. "Other than that the show is great." -- Oh, we should bring his mother and your mother here so they can both “shep naches”.

At this point, I only have one comment - why do we need to see the entire sex act? I mean it does nothing to the script - I seek more from the writing and actors rather than their sexual act. This to me seems like soft porn. I would rather deal with the writing and acting than having to view the entire sex act all the time. Speaking of which - do these men have penises? I see breasts, vaginas, women's back - NO penis - if the women have to bear all where's the beef? Tired of butt takes - I am a woman show me the penis! Other than the the show is great.

Hmm interesting. If they were able to problem solve they wouldn't need a therapist though. They're probably at a low point in their lives. I don't think it's because women have more sexual problems, but maybe we're more likely to seek professional help? I don't know. > Jamie is shallow with self destructive and out of > control sexual behavior. Yeah I can't relate to that at all... > Carolyn is secretive, driven. I hear that happens. If she doesn't drive Palek away with her obsessive behavior, he'll probably end up like Dave. > Katie is so caught up in being a mother, housekeeper, > the big doing-it-all scam that she doesn't realize > Dave is simply tired of working his butt of to give > her an orgasm when she is too distracted by > everything else to have one. > May seems to be the only hope for this show. May's got some skeleton in her closet that her husband wants her to dust off, what's that about?

masogenistic creator/writers

I was quite surprised to find out from a friend that the creator was a woman. I thought since the show seems only to depict single dimensioned women with no real abilities to problem solve or see what is happening around them, that the creator and/or writers were masogenists. Jamie is shallow with self destructive and out of control sexual behavior. Carolyn is secretive, driven. Seemingly willing to even go behind Paleks back to get pregnant. Meanwhile she misses the clear signals that her husband does not want to be treated like nothing more than a sperm donor. Katie is so caught up in being a mother, housekeeper, the big doing-it-all scam that she doesn't realize Dave is simply tired of working his butt of to give her an orgasm when she is too distracted by everything else to have one. May seems to be the only hope for this show.

This show and JFC are very different. Some like one, some like the other, some like both. There was something of a sh*t storm after the renewal last week born out of frustration at HBO. Most involved JFC posters have apologized (in cross-over on JFC boards) I invite any TMYLM fans to try JFC the next time it airs. I am happy that HBO chose to give another show a chance to grow. This is what we hoped for for JFC which was IMHO brilliant. Nowadays it simply comes down to cost apparently. P.S. Katie; I'm not sure I agree with your point on realism... for sure the characters are rich. I could watch Butchie/Shaun's relationship evolve indefinitely.

Is it just me or does anyone else run out of the room when Dave masterbates? Come on, Dave!! There's a really pretty woman out on the couch, fool! Oh, yes, we did observe Dave observing the young girls at the ice cream shop in an earlier episode. At first I blew that off as maybe Dave imagining his daughter getting older and hanging out with her friends...but now I wonder if he could possibly be a perv. Another time he was pumping gas, talking on his cell to Kate (who was having head lice problems..eww)and he was gazing at a big billboard with a bunch of women on it. Not that that's perverted, but he just is not focusing on Kate. I don't think they're in love anymore. (Ya think??) Carolyn, geez!! All those test kits are expensive! And, is she going to be charged for vandalizing that bathroom? Now that she is supposedly tired of trying, she will get pregnant...poor Palek. My heart goes out to the guy. However, my husband never lugged our toddler anywhere and I would say that Palek will have no trouble burying himself in his work and avoiding all the kiddie stuff. Carolyn will just have to multi-task like the rest of us. Jamie, darling...at least you have a condom ready and waiting in your purse at a moment's notice. Jamie needs to raise the bar a bit and boot that wardrobe, put on a dress and lose the sloppy boyfriends. And a 12-step program at Sex Addicts Anonymous wouldn't hurt. I'm afraid she might catch a disease. -- "Did you get your end near the lady, my brother?" Linc, "JFC"
