Carolyn and Palek try a more aggressive approach in their efforts to get pregnant; May suggests a first step to solve David and Katie's intimacy problems; Jamie vows celibacy, but finds Nick, whose own relationship is on the rocks, hard to resist.

kman222, That was an honest and well written assessment of this show. Personally I think this show is not picking up any at all. I found ep 5 incredibly boring.. And I wholeheartedly agree with your view: "this show suffers from its entirely white, upper-middle to upper-class cast. Maybe that hits hard the target HBO demo, and this is clearly an artistic choice from a creator with a vision, but if the writers REALLY want to show a 360 degree view of relationship and sex problems in America, why not follow, however peripherally, those living paycheck to paycheck? Interracial relationships? The "real-life couple talk" after the show is a lame outreach at best." What I cannot comprehend is that after only 4 episodes it was renewed for another season. This to me demonstrates that HBO cannot admit that this show if failing. Look around at the lack of involvement on these bb's. It's a wasteland. They have taken much more creatively written and acted shows and cut them off at the knees only to keep this one going? -- "Stare me down? Stare me down ?!"

This is a couples show. If you're not a couple involved in either a very deep or long-lasting relationship I can see why you wouldn't be interested. This is one of the first shows I've seen on television that really looks honestly at flawed relationships. I've been married for 24 years and the show really intrigues me.

I, like a great many of you out there it seems, keep giving this show a chance. Despite my better judgements, I desperately WANT to like this show. Patience, I say to myself, HBO shows are nothing if not about patience, the kind required to watch characters grow, back stories become fully-formed, nuance to emerge. The Wire, which at this point has to be considered HBO's flagship, moves at an often-lugubrious pace, with characters whose motivations become clear only after a great deal of exposition. But I don't think I have to tell you Tell Me You Love Me is no Wire. Despite what many posters believe, pacing is not the central problem in the show - it's the characters and their dialogue. I've noticed a bit of improvement in the Jaime/Hugo storyline, but for the better part of this show's run the dialogue has been borderline ridiculous. Troy Patterson of Slate, in a review of the show some weeks back, surmised it was "the way 45 year-olds think 25 year-olds speak." Well as a 25 year-old, I'd have to agree. The David/Katie storyline rings the most true, I think, and in turn has produced some of the most subtle dialogue. I may actually root for these people, clearly loving and attentive parents, in their sex lives. Which addresses another problem: Tell Me You Love Me has produced, with occasional exception, thoroughly unlikeable, humorless characters. They may reflect some version of reality, and that's admirable to try and capture in a forward-thinking HBO drama, but nobody said it would make for engaging television. Also - and this is a subject I imagine I will receive instant flak for from other posters - this show suffers from its entirely white, upper-middle to upper-class cast. The "real-life couple talk" after the show is a lame outreach at best. I'm a young white guy living paycheck to paycheck, by the way, so my interest is in a reflection of reality and little more. Admission: I will probably watch next week. There are signs of life, small they may be, and there is a considerable void to fill before Curb at 9. But the show is teetering on the precipice of being something I thought I'd never say about an HBO show: just another medicore cog in a lineup suffering from identity crisis.

You guys are pretty rough on this show. My guess is that you are so young or lacking in self-reflection that you don't see a little of yourself or people you know in each of the characters. Don't you get it. This is about ordinary suburban couples struggling to get it right. I too was a fan of John from Cinci. But this is not just another piece of entertainment. Instead of emphasis on the weird and "out there," it is about the struggles that a large number of us face. I think it is much better therapy than REAL SEX and is probably a better public service than anything on Public Television. And, don't mock old people's sex until you are old enough to try it. Look at yourself and your lifestyles and ask yourself why this is boring or not on target. Maybe it is your frame of reference that is of target. It is about time we celebrated the everydary struggles of ordinary people.

Just be glad that the "senior sex" isn't as graphic as the junior sex, no prothetic units, or bare parts. But the reality is that seniors DO have sex, if they're lucky, and it's ironic that the seniors in this show seem to have the best relationship. The rest of them are all broken emotinally.

Ok, i know I am going to catch a lot of grief for this, but I am going to respond. I will be the first to admit since Sopranos, Big Love, and Entourage aren't airing new episodes right now, I have given up all interests in HBO. Then, this weekend I caught a commercial for Tell Me that You Love Me, and I watched it on On-Demand. First, I HATED JFC. I couldn't even make it through the first 30 minutes, which made me sad b/c I am a fan of Ed O'Neal. Now, I have watched all the episodes of TMTYLM so far, and love the show... well, except for the senior citizen sex scences. TV is meant to be entertainment... if you don't like it, don't watch. That's why JFC isn't on anymore.

Wow, another Monday full of excitement about this show. They may want to think of renaming it to "Tell Me Who Gives a Shit".

You guys crack me up. I have to agree with you all. The music is pretty good though. I've placed a wager with a friend that the song at the end of episode 5 was performed by MOS DEF. That song was hot. Does anyone know who the last artist was on episode 5?

I dont know what is worse episode 5 or the 3 posts people bothered to post. please give us back JFC and admit your mistake with this piece of trash. HBO you really do have a show there that could effect the masses, dont let it drown. Please all TMYLM fans are welcome to come and visit and talk on the JFC boards, theve even written other episodes since they cancelled our show. Thanks FF -- "Some things I know & some things I don't"

Don't forget the hot, steamy head-lice outbreak! SEXY!!!! HBO? It's not tv, it's HBS (Horrendous Bull Shit)! If the suits at HBO would take their collective heads out of their asses, we could look forward to a second season of an amazing series which was just cancelled. You may have heard of it...John From Cincinnati? -- Lifetime Member of The Native American Blues Society...Established 1492.

Couple uses artificial insemination. Couple told to put a lock on the door, which the guy uses to keep his wife out while he jerks off again. Girl who always has to have sex has sex. Another shocking episode. Just saved you all some time, thank me later.
