When Gina (played by Dianne Wiest) starts her practice up again, Paul's more casual visits evolve into a commitment to return to therapy to deal with the multiple stresses on his personal and professional life. Do you think Gina will get through to Paul and finally help him deal with demons past?

Ah, ty for the directions to the thread, Facetious, now I understand more. Our fleeting personal interactions with celebrities will often color that person in our minds forever. I used to work security at one of the NASCAR tracks, and have met most of the drivers. By far the rudest was Jeff Gordon. He pushed a 4 year old child away physically, who was trying to give him a picture he drew of Jeff. That was his first champion win year. I have never liked him since.

I, too, hope to see her back! I really like her as an actress, and she really adds a lot to this show.

OK, this one really confused me. I thought Paul and Gina had made a breakthrough in their relationship last week. When Gina said she would not "keep her door open" when Paul said he wanted to leave therapy, my jaw dropped. He asked her not to take it personally, and she said she didn't, but it sure seemed like she did. How could she still be so angry with him? Last week, he apologized for not being at David's funeral and not being there for her? Am I missing something here? The thing I liked about the last episode was her suggestion that Paul become a supervisor and that could be a great story line for next year. Other than that, I wondered if Dianne Wiest didn't want to do a third season, so they wrote her out.

Although it was disturbing to watch Paul de evolve and degrade into an adolescent ...projecting and lashing out..it was worth the journey to watch them both navigate the hour. Gina held on remarkably and her recovery , in words and delivery was lovely and heartfelt and genuine. she is a buddha I was absolutely delighted with Paul's' "lifecoach advice" for Mia. . I have felt inclined to tell this character the exact same thing and his specific recommendations,.... (stop wearing high heels, grow your hair, move to napa etc) was distinct and intuitively accurate. I was left with admiration for the character of Gina. Thank you again HBO -- You get what you concentrate on...there is no other rule

Unfortunately, I can't forget my very unpleasant encounter with her and that colors my feelings for her. However, I still think she's a wonderful actress.

I hope that she wins the Emmy for best supporting actress again this year. Last year, I was disappointed that she won because I thought Mia Wasikowska's performance was so outstanding and she deserved to be nominated and win over Wiest. This year, Diane Wiest has stepped up her game. She's better than in season one and I think she genuinely deserves to win the Emmy this year. I also like Wiest's sweet, feminine voice. In contrast, I've also enjoyed it the few times she's gotten angry. Her eyes narrow and her voice gets lower. She really captures your attention when she loses her temper -- just like GB does.

I thought it was the best episode between Paul and Gina. She finally let him have it! I think it was good for him. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. His last session with Walter was so terrific. He broke down the wall. How can he think that he is not helping his patients?

If someone is an > ineffective and defrocked therapist (if they lose > their license),why would they make a good life coach? > The excess baggage might carry over to the new role. By the same token, why can't the therapist weave in some suggestions during therapy? For instance: "Mia, since the piano seemed so joyful once, have you ever thought about taking it up again? I know it doesn't take the place of a baby...but right now it might give you some solace...perhaps you could interact with children on some level by giving lessons..." I don't see where that kind of talk crosses any boundaries. He wouldn't be telling her how to live her life...he'd only be offering some options on how to expand her horizons. By bringing April and her mother together, hasn't he basically changed the course of April's life? Paul seems to be constantly telling Oliver's parents how to change their habits in order to make Oliver happy...I think. Anyway, I find it highly unlikely that a "life coach" would have Mia move to Napa Valley and live a bohemian (?) lifestyle....a hippie on a bike with a dog. Life Coach? Last night Paul appears as a frustrated psychologist who wants to be a Life Coach. If someone is an ineffective and defrocked therapist (if they lose their license),why would they make a good life coach? The excess baggage might carry over to the new role.

Last night's episode was a little jarring when they both starting screaming at each other. Paul keeps trying to provoke Gina, like a little kid wanting "mom" to feel as badly as he does. Then when he gets her attention, he gets very quiet and introspective. He violates Gina's boundaries all the time by "getting in her face." What do you think he wants from Gina besides a lot of validation?
