Good luck - retribution can take a toll.

well "BeTipul" the Israeli show on which "In Treatment" is based had a second season. so here's a few details on what season 2 might be like. and just so you know, i saw both "BeTipul" and "In Treatment" and their almost the same, expet names and a few changes to fit to the US (for example, Yadin, on which Alex was based, was in the israeli air force and dropped the bomb in the Gaza strip) Alex's father wants to sew Paul, so Paul meets a lawyer, who was his patient 20 years ago, and she starts treatment again amy and Jake bring their son for treatment paul has two new patient: a woman who finds out she has cancer and a business-man who deals with panic attacks he's also keep seeing Gina

I don't know how it ends, and won't until Friday. But I hope this show returns. Please HBO, how many ways can I beg? As far as new characters, well, I don't think either Kate or Laura deserve Paul. What about Paul falling in love with someone this time...perhaps outside his practice? What would happen if Paul realizes he cares for the clerk who sells him his fish heads? Seriously, perhaps a librarian at a library where he could be doing research? Or - what about this - Paul does fall in love with someone and talks about her to Gina in their session - but we don't see the character at all until the last episode....hmm....then each of us could imagine us as that character...that Paul was speaking dreamily (?) of us.

Where did you here that? I don't think there has been a definite announcement on the fate of the show.

From what I've heard the show is not returning for the 2nd season. I think it's a given that it appeals to a narrow psycho-analytical group of people like us, not the mainstream public who is bored by the genre. Well, I for one, will miss it. But if the show is to continue, I think Amy and Sophie have lots more work to do and will have return if another season is in the works. There is also a lot to be wrapped up in Paul-Kate's relationship. I would love to explore Gina's character in more detail. What makes her tick? Or doesn't? As far as Laura is concerned, Paul has made a fool of himself declaring his love to her when all he really was to her is yet another victim of her sexual prowess. It was very telling of her character to walk into her bedroom and wait for him there. Sex is how she relates to men. And when he could not perform, she denounced her interest in him. A very humiliating scene for Paul. A point well made by writers. It was painful to watch Paul's tired, mature, worn face next to Laura's young, fresh face and luscious lips. It made him look like a cliche: and old pervert lusting for a young woman. But all is well that ends well. He recovered from a temporary insanity and came back to his senses. For both Paul and Laura, the whole encounter had unpleasant associations. Something that real people would not want to re-live. But then again, it's a show.

I second your vote. Sophie is my favorite patient by far. I love watching Sophie and Paul together.

I haven't seen the last three episodes yet, so this post isn't really an answer to your question, but I will say this as of Tuesday, 3/25, aka the night before... Assuming that Paul is back, if only one patient were to return, my vote is Sophie.

yes, new patients for sure...what will happen between him and Kate? Will Gina help them get back together, even if Kate won't go to theraphy or are they through? I still hold out hope some how Laura and Paul will cross paths again somewhere in season two, maybe just as Paul is getting on with his life. it would be an interesting twist. Paul just needs to man up. Come on writers if you bring him back...let him find some love and let us see it for crying out loud!
