Second Season--In Treatment

It is about as close to the real thing as can be possible for a television series, and I have never been so interested in any show. Please, Please, Please, a second season. Well written. Weel acted. Well EVERYTHING!

But what about these two "loose ends"?

LE #1:
An old-fashioned round clock is often shown in the background. Its one hand, or both (can't tell) remain straight up at midnight/noon. Why?

the doomsday clock...general warning to everyone: get your act together -- time is running out!

LE #2:
What is to be done with the expensive coffee machine Alex gave him?

I know nothing about the black coat.

As to a second season: In Treatment we all know is an American version--almost word for word as I understand it--of a pre-existing set of scripts from Israel. Can we create something as good from scratch? Can it be more-of-the-same without being precisely-more-of-the-same?

It worked for so many reasons. One reason is the resonances each case had for the others. But it left us a therapist whose ability to help others is undiminished, but he himself is really quite lost. The only person in the cast of characters who can help Paul is NOT Gina and NOT Paul. It is Kate (Michelle Forbes).

Then it's really strange that they had that coat wherever he went (not wearing it, but over his arm)

According to a Spoiler site, there is no Laura in season 2.

I agree with you totally, but I think Laura is imbalanced enough to do it. Then it becomes a draggy soap opera so I hope there's another reason, but people are commenting on the significance of the coat. It doesn't seem to fit the story line.

An interesting theory. I'll have to rewatch the episode. What would the grounds of Laura's lawsuit be? Perhaps it would be a reason for him to see her again. But why? Talk about a dead horse, that story line. And what good would a lawsuit do for the show? It would detract from what made it interesting--his interactions with patients. But a curious detail in that episode--you're right.

Haven't seen the episode but could it be the reason they re-connect in Season Two?

In the final episode of week 9, Paul is carrying (not wearing) around his black coat, if you notice. He carries it into Kates room when he tells her he is going over Lauras.
He carries it out of the house and into the car. He takes it out of the car and into Laura's house, where she says, "can I take your coat." Laura puts it on the sofa where it is constantly televised (on the sofa, next to the poster called abstract, etc. etc. I think the writers are playing to the audience (as they did in Sopranos in final episode) to set us up for season 2. I believe he left the coat there when he ran out of Lauras with a panic attack. I think it's evidence for a probable law suit by Laura against Paul. If not, then that whole thing with his coat was quite ridiculous.
What do you think. I'd love to get some input on that.

I need a second season of In Treatment too. I am in graduate school for counseling and in therapy myself and I am intregued by that show. I was fortunate to get a free year of HBO so I got to see the complete first season ( I had been watching online before they stopped the service and was completely addicted to it so I was thrilled to get HBO to see the first season, I don't know what I am going to do with myself until the next season comes out, I really don't know what I am going to do if there is no second season.
So Please Please Please can there be a second season!!

Im not afraid of therapy, I am in therapy but I can't help but love this show. It's a very realistic and touching show that keeps me entertained. I sure hope the second season is going to start soon, because I will be missing Paul until than lol.
