1. Show us flashes of what the patients describe or what they're thinking (fantasy sequences, as when Paul saw Laura and Alex in his office). There is no reason why the show should all be crammed into Paul's office! - This also would have been a convenient way to show some Paul/Laura action. I understand why HBO went the way they did with that relationship, and actually agree with it, but after so much teasing I would've payed a lot just to see a kiss. (Oh the abuse my TV took when the screen went black...) Great observations 747ego! HBO take note: Televisions were abused across the country when those screens went blank as Paul 'did the right thing'. Frustrated women are a powerful force to be playing around with. Nobody likes being left high and dry. -- Edited by MissPDX at 09/09/2008 8:58 PM PDT

Okay, and as part of Paul-in-crisis: more philosophical/academic discussion on the value of therapy! "A fully concious human being would be paralyzed." - Paul, Ep 40 "Can you really help anybody if you live in a bubble?" - Paul, Ep 40 More of that.

I would like to see a great number of things on the second season of iT. I recently fell head-over-heels for the series. I think it was mostly the Paul-Laura sexual tension that kept me watching through the first few weeks (even though I knew this was a common ploy), but then I gradually became more invested in the other characters and their relationships. I'm finding that on a second viewing (now that I know what happens between Paul and Laura) I'm somewhat disappointed and able to see quite a few flaws in the show. However, I still love it and know it has enormous potential, if it can just do a few of these things: 1. (Oh the abuse my TV took when the screen went black...) 2. Show more of Paul's home life! The patients are interesting and all, but they're also all something we've seen before -- the repressed macho male, the troubled teen, the woman with the "tasty, little Daddy Complex," etc. The private life and thoughts of a therapist, on the other hand, is something most of us haven't seen before. What's going to happen to Max? Why does Ian favor Paul? Paul and Kate -- well, they need a separate number. 3. As much as I loved the sexual tension between Paul and Laura, I don't think it was really love driving the relationship, but more the breakdown of Paul and Kate's relationship. Paul and Laura both needed something and they found it in each other, but mutually fulfilled needs do not equal love. The Paul/Kate situation seems pretty bleak right now, but I think Paul at least wants to keep their marriage (why else does he tell Kate he's going to see Laura, wait for her to stop him?). I would love to see Paul really try to fix that relationship, now that he and Kate have some idea of what got them into their situation. - *cough* This is also a good opporunity for GB action in a realistic context *cough* - *cough* sexnowplz *cough* 4. A good catalyst for that would be Paul treating the child of divorced (or divorcing) parents, to see objectively and up-close what happens to these children, to realize what would happen to Max and Rosie. Lenny would be convenient, but I think we already know too much about his parents' relationship; it's more interesting when we only see the patient's POV, because then what they don't say is just as important as what they don't -- are they lying or not, how are they presenting the people they talk about, etc. 5. I agree with what was said earlier about Paul's therapy being somewhat unrealistic. Paul needs to do more than answer questions with questions and spout an occasional theory. But I think we need to suspend reality when it comes to Paul setting boundaries. The show and Paul are interesting BECAUSE we get to know Paul, BECAUSE Paul is a human being with human thoughts and feelings and experiences -- not just a machine. The same goes for Gina. 6. What are the details of the Paul/Gina history? Why was it inappropriate for Paul to attend David's funeral? 7. I'd also like to see abandonment issue explored, as so eloquently explained by daniellscot25. 8. We need to see Paul in real crisis. We've come close, but we haven't seen a real breakdown or bender yet, and judging by "what's left for me now, Gina?" this is what we're set up for. 9. IF ("big ifs") the Paul/Kate relationship is fixed (and this would be in the far-off future, the second season finale at the soonest), I'd like to see it tested by a re-appearance of Laura. Laura has plenty of reasons to come back to Paul, so it's not unrealistic. 10. To make it an even 10: if we don't see Sophie again, we need another character that lightens the mood a little bit, even if it's just once a week.

I would like to see season two be a continuation of season one. Paul could see Laura's father, Alex's gay friends, Sophie's coach, Jake and Lenny, and of course Gina. Well, since Laura, Alex and Sophie will not be coming back, I think that's unlikely........and Alex has long since been buried. None of those patients will be back
