Why has the EMMY thread on this Board been Archived?

Dianne just WON for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama - as I [ahem] predicted in July: :)

I think from a practical standpoint, Gabriel Byrne has little chance of winning against Laurie or Hamm, especially.

BUT ---- I do think Dianne has an Excellent chance of winning, not only because of her great performances in IT, but also considering her highly respected past body of work and the (IMHO) very weak competition in her category .
>>>

BUT I hope I was wrong about Gabriel not Winning! We'll probably have to wait awhile for the Best Actor Awards. Glynn Turman already won last week for Best Guest Actor. I.T. is doing Very Well in the awards department!

I'm looking forward to Season 2 but I wish the S.1 DVD hadn't been delayed for a Year! Maybe they want it to coincide with S.2 for some reason?

Anyway, Kudos to Dianne on her Win !! :) :) :)

That's great news. I was hoping Byrne would relent and return. In the meantime we have watched all the available "Cracker" episodes, a series with a non pc forensic psychiaturst, very different than "In Treatment" but a real treat of its own. Anyone else try it?

Hi Tendance, nice to meet you! Yes, I thought ClareL had some significant points from a clinical perspective but never agreed that this television show would be BETTER if it was closer to clinical reality.

Boooooo. After all, I was disappointed that Paul didnt chuck it all, risk his license and nail Laura for once and for all. So, of course I was not hoping for a more sterile version of the show.

Anyway, welcome!

Yes, Thank you Tenancies; Touched and I are both Brilliant
I must say I do miss ClareL. She certainly was a study in rigidity don't you think? And you are so right; there is so much human nature operating that is fascinating in and of itself, ancient desires, oedipal stuff... she didn't get it.
And too funny to be on a thread of women who have a huge crush on Gabriel Byrne and she just kept pushing the boundary issue.....

Lost on all of us who were waiting for him to kick the coffee table aside!

Even with my background I wanted him on the couch! Thank you Tendence; you're absolutely right about her rigidity..and as someone pointed out to me here, rigidity is not a good quality for a therapist.....I would imagine fluidity might be a better choice. You cannot force things down patient's throats if they don't want it or are not ready to "see" it.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head, Ten.

Interesting posts here.
Having just caught all the episodes OnDemand. I am a recent convert to the series and now these threads. Agree mostly with MissPDX and TouchedbythPoet...but left a bit confused by ClareL's presence.

Gabriel Byrne is a fine actor as is the rest of the cast. I do agree that Sophie's character was outstanding.

It may not be a PC program or up to the standards of the professed profession...but it is what we (the lesser in life) want to watch...and apparently enjoy for what it is.

ClareL...not all of us are concerned with getting Paul "off the couch and back in his own chair", quite the opposite. Of course we don't have a Psych background haunting our every thought...and maybe that is why you don't understand some of our comments. What worries me is that you don't get it....and yet your profession demands that you do. Human nature...it's why we all seek therapy.

Ah...TouchedbythPoet...I loved your short analysis of Paul's "option" theme.
Perfect cadence and humor.

MissPDX. You remind me of my aunt who used to sing " I was sinking deep in sin....whoopeee!"

Can't wait for the next season.

Ruby,
Well, you were wise to find her and it appears the work you did with her was empowering after the hell you went through; and it's great that you found and went to her.

I can NOT imagine...testifying, that many women testifying and then have that outcome. I'm very sorry--it's awful. For what it's worth, you know your female therapist was with you all the way and it had to infuriate her. Maybe more than you realized. Or perhaps she told you in no uncertain terms what she thought about the outcome--sounds like she did.

she was my anchor and life saver, truly. She testified on my behalf at the hearings as well. I don't see her much anymore, but still love her to bits.

She was really pissed off about the whole situation..

Ruby,
You could try contacting the APA but it might take a lawyer (althought not necessarily) to do that (which would be fine)...the problem now is the length of time, but some type of closure (not that you'll ever have that really) but some closer type of closure might be helpful.
It seems you've been to another therapist since then (and I'm assuming about the situation with the other) and that's good...and that was a positive as I gather (I could be assuming too much.) If you did find someone (and it sound like a female) who was empathic and you could trust, then that was a wise move. If this is the case, what were her recommendations?
I once saw a patient who for years had been on the wrong med...in a way that literally screwed her life up...YEARS. Major misdiagnosis. I encouraged her to go the legal route but she resisted. The other therapist had been so "loyal"...yeah, right. We got her on the right meds and it was as if the woman "woke up" and was alive. It was amazing. Not the same as your situation, I realize, but was still what I'd consider malpractice. If she'd have pursued litigation we were prepared to stand behind her, testify, etc. as expert witnesses.
I think you're caught in a time issue now but I'd still want to know (if it were I) what happened with this old therapist. It would be to some satisfaction to find out if under some of the newer rules and laws that he was sanctioned...because if it happened to four women...ahem. What about the next ones coming along in years following? Would be interesting and perhaps helpful to find out. If you have a therapist now, ask her. And as I mentioned, perhaps an attorney who would know how to maneuver this type of thing. There are those who specialize in these areas.
