If HBO wants to use my comment, it would be great. It would be even better if they would announce a third season of IT with Gabriel Byrne!

HBO ... are you listening? Please bring back In Treatment with Gabriel Byrne in its current format for Season 3. Make the schedule manageable for Mr. Byrne. Bring back Dianne Wiest as his therapist and enjoy the critical acclaim.

This is a world reknowned and recognized hit, and it has a very loyal fan base who are still talking about it one month after the Season 2 finale and one year after the Season 1 finale. The buzz is that it will receive many Emmy nominations, too.

HBO ... what more do you need?

Edingburgh Film Festival U.K. "Without doubt, the fest's absolute show-stopper turned out to be not a film but a TV series: In Treatment, one of two US efforts showcased (the other being Alan Ball's True Blood). In Treatment features Gabriel Byrne as a psychotherapist, and follows an inspired format: five 30-minute episodes a week, four featuring different patients, the fifth showing the hero's own session with his mentor (Dianne Wiest). Chamber drama at its tightest, the HBO series ? masterminded by Rodrigo Garcia ? is brilliant because it puts you in the therapist's place, making you acutely aware of every nuance in both script and acting. Byrne is mesmerising, reserved in four episodes before changing his register radically in the fifth, and a superb supporting cast includes Embeth Davidtz and young up-and-comer Mia Wasikowska. This is TV drama at its most literate, and it would be a scandal if it didn't reach UK screens soon. " http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/reviews/edinburgh-international-film-festival-1722133.html This show needs to renewed WITH Gabriel Byrne and WITH its compelling format in tact ---------------------------- Found the above on another thread but HBO needs to believe that season three is a MUST!!!!!!!!!!!! -- "Hello? ...your dorwer wz open"

And I'd also have to vote for Jake/Amy storyline last season as most unbelievable. Just because I wanted to claw my eyes out each time those "sessions" aired.

I have the CD's of season one and I have yet to re-watch Jake and Amy's sessions, but I am sure I will get to them when I need to get some fresh "scenes" of GB, but they will be last and least.

I could not imagine trying to tell ?Paul? about my problems. Just looking at him would make me forget what I was there for .

But how freeing and amazing it would be to be able to tell Paul Weston, that apart from the initial problem you are coming to him for, you trust him enough to say "look I am embarassed to tell you right now that there is going to be erotic transference on my part, big time; so if you want to not treat me, say so now and I will find another therapist" then to have Paul say, "it's okay (your name) we can work on that issue as well if ya loike." Yikes!

Some time ago my family dr referred me to a psychiatrist while I went through a very time in life (workplace bullying - devastating to a high achiever like me). At first the dr I was referred to advised me to also see a psychologist, but after a few sessions he realized I could not open up to yet another doctor. He helped me through the hard times with talk as well as pharmaceuticals. I owe him a lot.

I kinda like the name avid - so much less geeky than avidreader!

Right, Avid. I think we discussed this earlier - that Paul Weston is a PhD, thus getting the distinction of being referred to as "Doctor." (Although some PhD's are fine with "Mr" - but "M.D."'s would have a fit if you called them that!).

Hence, the reason he had to refer Walter to a psychiatrist - to prescribe medication.

I was told by someone in psychotherapy YEARS ago that it's next to impossible (at least in my neck of the woods) to receive therapy - i.e., sitting down and conversing - from a psychiatrist. The majority of the therapists are psychologists, social workers, etc. One only sees a psychatrist when they're on meds - and the "visit" only entails "med management" which session lasts anywhere from 10-15 minutes.

He is not an MD. When he thought Walter should be on some medication he referred him to a psychiatrist.

From the little information available that I could scrape up, Paul obtained a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Then in episode one of season two, when his lawyer was verifying his history, it was said that he received his BA and MS from Columbia. In that same episode though, it was said he got his Ph.D. from The New School in NYC.

My orthopedist is drop dead gorgeous and has the most unbelievable blue eyes. He comes in the room and you can?t even speak because you can?t stop looking at him to be able to tell him what is wrong with you. I could not imagine trying to tell ?Paul? about my problems. Just looking at him would make me forget what I was there for :-D.
