And you're suprised, how, Livvy by HBO's (lack) of action? If HBO was a fire alarm for any community, that community would be in ruins by now.

Livvy,
Thanks for posting this info and site address. I'm glad it hasn't gone unnoticed how HBO has not given IT is proper promotion. Mia not being (at least) nominated is outrageous - I can hardly believe it.

I've been reading about the Emmys at theenvelope.latimes.com and it's interesting what really goes into what shows and actors get nominated. Promotion is very important. One person wrote something like, "Given all the love being shown the 'In Treatment' actors, you have to wonder how close it came to placing in the Top 10 Drama Series Category. If HBO had promoted 'In Treatment' as much as it did 'Big Love,' 'In Treatment' would probably have received a nomination for Best Drama."

The talk on the Best Supporting Actress thread is about how much name recognition played a part in who was nominated. Veteran, well-known actresses got nominated over less well-known actresses who gave better performances.

HBO didn't promote Glynn Turman at all for his role in IT. He put together a promotional campaign and got himself nominated. And, the consensus is that he deserves to win the Emmy. But, deserving to win and winning are two different things as we've found out with Mia.

Yes they do, Touched. Just like the Oscars. It all costs money and, of yet, she is not "marketable".

Idiots continue to rule the world.

Do the producers of the show have some control on who they want to promote as nominees?

Is it possible that HBO decided for instance to promote Michelle Forbes and Diane Weist and not Mia? Just wondering

Again, wonderful news and deeply deserved. I have watched that episode a number of times and I'm ALWAYS moved to tears by Turman's performance.

But I can't stop thinking about Mia. . .she was robbed! Foolish Emmy people probably feel that she hasn't paid her dues. I've always thought the Emmys, even more so than other awards, were incredibly political. Because she's new to Hollywood, "they" probably were unwilling to reward her.

She gave a brilliant performance and it's shameful that she is not being recognized for her achievement.

(Okay, I'll step away from the podium now and resume my medications. . .)

So happy to hear he is on the list. I really hope he wins as it would be awesome for IT and the future of the show. Very sorry to hear that Mia is not on that list. Her performance was awesome and really deserves to be there too!

Wouldnt it be great, to see him attend the emmys with Mia? I will prefer it over seeing him attend it with that one that I will not name.

The only thing I would prefer to that, is seeing him attend the emmys with me.

And, yet another top 10 finish for an IT actor --

Top 10 Guest Actors in a Drama:

Keith Carradine, "Dexter" ("Morning Comes")
Charles Durning, "Rescue Me" ("Yaz")
Danny Glover, "Brothers and Sisters" ("The Feast of Epiphany")
Robert Morse, "Mad Men" ("Nixon vs. Kennedy")
Peter O'Toole, "The Tudors" ("Episode 208")
Oliver Platt, "Nip-Tuck" ("Carly Summers")
Peter Riegert, "Damages" ("Do You Regret What We Did?")
Stanley Tucci, "E.R." ("The War Comes Home")
Glynn Turman, "In Treatment" ("Alex: Week 8")
Robin Williams, "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit ("Authority")

I'm so happy about all this recognition for IT. But, I can't be completely happy when next to GB, Mia's performance was the best of them all and she won't be nominated. I just hope someone at least asks her to attend the Emmys this year.

Can you imagine if he wins? These boards will erupt.
It will be whack!

Yeah, I definitely don't think he'll be relaxed if he has to go up there to accept. I wonder if he would make a quick speech and be charming and humble, or would he be so nervous that he would make that grumpasaurus scowl of his and talk in a monotone. It's hard to tell with him.

I know one thing for sure...if he is nominated, I am going to be so nervous. I'll be shaking the whole time they are reading the list of nominees. And if he wins, I know I'll start crying, like I'm his mother. I better make sure I'm alone that night, 'cause I will make a spectacle of myself.

I, too, can't believe that Mia W. did not get nominated. She was just incredible, as everyone here knows.

Yes. I find it shocking that she won't be nominated. Sad actually.

Making it this far in the Emmy nomination process is a real compliment. The Emmys are only relevant and important if you value the opinions of mainstream actors and critics, which I don't so much. But still if he were to win then it would be him on stage in front of fellow actors and people he's admired for a long time clapping for him and recognizing his achievements. I would love to see that, even if the thought makes him poop his pants.
