I know you fans really like Gabriel Byrne. He's a great actor. But what about Blair Underwood a.k.a. "Alex"? I thought he was great on the show. -- Edited by adh1006 at 05/16/2009 3:38 PM PDT

Blair Underwood is both an excellent actor, and amazingly handsome. AMEN and A-MEN, Sarah!! He's also a very, very nice person...just the sweetest. He has a beautiful wife and family, but then again, it's genetically impossible for Blair to make unattractive kids, yes? He has worked so hard over the years...glad to see the payoff come in for him.

I actually missed the pilot of IT. I didn't start watching the show until the second episode. Alex was the 1st character that really sucked me into the show.

My favorite scenes last year were between Paul and Alex, because BOTH those actors have MOJO! Blair Underwood is both an excellent actor, and amazingly handsome. Definitely miss those episodes from last year. And don't get me started on Vampire Bill. He is the reason I watch the few episodes of that show that I do watch (I have trouble with blood, really!), so can't watch the show much.

Thanks for the clarification....yes, that's right, it was a Golden Globe nomination...typing fast, I guess....the POINT was that Blair Underwood is considered today a great actor in response to the thread header topic. Yes, Blair Underwood looks that great in person...chalk it up to good living....he's a very good person, too...by all accounts, a great husband, father, friend....full of integrity...gives a lot to humanitarian causes. He deserves every great thing that comes his way. Go Blair!!

>>>soookaaaaay...sookaaaay.... I'd like a fried banana sammwich... LOL I was in Elvis's kitchen just last week. Surprisingly small, dark and depressing, with no outside windows and a 4-burner electric stovetop. Weird! That's all you need for the fried banana sandwich! Graceland wasn't big at all by todays standards. He died before the kitchen became king in American homes. and, when Graceland was built; the kitchen was for the "help". BACK to Alex

He deserved it, though, as did GB! Sigh. Of course, we have Emmy wins for both Dianne Wiest and Glynn Turman, and a GG for GB, so not so shabby for IT! Um, pardon my acronyms. -- Gabriel Byrne Wallpaper Collection Byrneholics Online

> Last year . . . an Emmy nomination for his work on IT. > Was Blair nominated? I believe he (and Melissa George) were nominated for Golden Globes, not Emmys. I thought he did a fine job as Alex. I found the initial cockiness offputting, but that gave way to a much more nuanced, complex character (of course: this is IT, isn't it?). I hadn't seen him since LA Law, so my first thought was "Is it just me, or has he not aged in 20 years?". Good makeup, good living, or a pact with the devil? There must be a portrait hanging in his attic somewhere... -- Edited by Windhover at 05/17/2009 10:16 AM PDT

Blair Underwood has definitely become a great actor. I've seen him grow tremendously over the years from his start on LA Law. Last year, he guest-starred in four television shows to great acclaim, including an Emmy nomination for his work on IT. He has honed his craft and really come into a prolific period with his work. Mr. Underwood is also a tremendous humanitarian...a huge heart....he does so much charity and mentoring work here in the Los Angeles area, without seeking the spotlight. He wrote, produced and directed a video featured on the Oprah Show about ten years ago entitled Sister, I'm Sorry. Anyone who doesn't consider Blair Underwood a great actor is A) in the minority, B) grossly uninformed, and C) would be well-served to view all of the Alex episodes again...Gabriel Byrne had a lot of respect for Mr. Underwood in his interviews last year.

On the topic of vampires . . . Here is a case of innocuous acting-out: During my play time - never during the work day - my ringtone is "Bad Things." But please, let me assure you, I am not a fangbanger. Is this so wrong?
