Casting choices you'd make for IT Season Three

With all the creative talent and intellectual capacity on these threads, wouldn't it be fun to get YOUR ideas for casting choices?

Who would you cast? Which roles and for what reason?

Alright, IT fans & viewers, let the casting games begin!!

I'll kick this off by throwing out Helen Mirren as Paul's therapist if Diane Wiest doesn't return. Ms. Mirren has excellent chemistry with Gabriel Byrne, is an acting powerhouse in her own right, would give Gabriel a magnificent foil against which to act, and at the age of 62, this Sistah is still sizzling...I mean it's unreal...my re-SPECT!!

I think I replied to a post with season 3 ideas around the end of season 2, but I don't know what all they were so I'll give a shot at coming up with some ideas...

It's been said that maybe some patients with a lil larger or deeper problems might be good...I like this idea, but I think if we went too big like multiple personality disorder or schitsophrenic (sorry for spelling lol) that we would need longer episodes and/or twice as many episodes to be able to see Paul really breakthrough like he has in S1 and S2...now I would be thrilled with hour long eps or twice as many eps but Gabe and HBO may not. lol So, I personally think it would be nice to get patients who as someone mentioned are of the walking wounded variety but possibly have deeper problems or have harder shells to crack then in the past. Now I might have a few options on my list that sit somewhere between walking wounded and whatever name you gave the more clinical side of the spectrum. lol

Anyway, here goes...

Someone mentioned a sole survivor of something and my idea for that would be this...

a young man (say in his early to mid-twenties) who is the only survivor of a bus accident. When he was in highschool...he was on a school bus with a hand full of his fellow basketball teammates and some cheerleaders (maybe one of them is his sister or girlfriend)...it was late and those who didn't drive or carpool with parents of friends were riding home on the bus...it blew a tire or something causing it to crash and everyone died but our young man...perhaps he came to enough after the wreck to actually see his girlfriend slip away. Perhaps he spent a lot of time in recovery after the wreck but he did physically get back to his old self eventually. Well, he's here to see Paul because his life is really taking a toll on him...he plays way too hard and fast and works even harder...he tries way too hard to be the best at everything but his career is constantly changing...he doesn't seem as though he can hold a job but deep down that's not because he can't handle it due to his excessive recreational activities but because he has been carrying the wait of the world (or that bus) on his shoulders ever since the accident...even though he's never once even hinted to a single person in his life (until sometime durring the season IT with Paul) he has felt a burdon as the sole survivor to live for each one of his fallen friends...he was fairly close to everyone on that bus...he knew what they liked doing...what they wanted to be, and he feels that it's up to him to be all of those things...to carry on for them and live the lives that they were not able to live....but this is really getting too much for him...it's wearing him down soo much that he ends up in Pauls office though he's not sure why he's decided to come because he feels like it's an hour each week that he's spending on himself instead of out in the world living for them.

Okay, that one was long and drawn out, so I will be back in a bit to try and not ramble so much with my other ideas. lol

You're right...it could really help if Lindsay laid low for a while, but if she doesn't I think something like this could garner her the kind of praise from critics, etc (if they could allow themselves to give her a chance) to help her out. That don't really mean I want her on IT exactly...more that I know she could do it and that it could possibly be good for her...however she's so widely known I don't think she would really have a shot getting on IT. lol

oo oo Diane Lane would be a nice love interest...if it's not Diba or me. lol

Yes, Yes to Diane Lane. Also Robin Wright! LLohan IS a good actress but I agree, lay low, dry out, refind your life path and come back!

Hi PreciousThings.

I am glad you liked my little fantasy/idea.
I do this a lot, creating those fantasy about Paul Weston and myself as the lost soul :_|

I know, I really should seek help for that.....
But I wont, because I like them ]:)
Hey, they are only fantasy, right ?!

But sometime I fool around with the idea that HBO get in contact with me, and they want to use my idea!
Of course I say yes....
And I take the first plane out from Norway....get to meet Gabriel Byrne...and the rest is history ;):^O

Am I crazy or what :O

PreciousThings, Lindsay Lohan is a very talented actress and would probably do a very fine acting job. My only disconnect is that she's kinda broken one of the rules in the young actress' handbook...don't let your private life get so outsized and sensational and become fodder for tabloid headlines that you can't recede into a role.

I wish Lindsay would go and live in Switzerland and lay low for about three years and then come blazing back into Hollywood in a couple of great romantic comedies followed by a harrowing dramatic role....kinda like Julia Roberts' hiatus from Hollywood in the early 1990's.

Elizabeth Taylor managed to pull off the Mike-Todd-plane-crash-steal-Eddie-Fisher-then-dump-for-Richard-Burton, yet still put in some award-winning tour-de-force cinematic performances, but she's in rarefied air.

Ooh, Diane Lane maybe for a love interest for Paul...what say y'all?

Okay, I'm back. :)

oo oo oo I think Wes Bently would be a good choice!

here are a few other options (more than a season's worth of actors. lol)...
Patsy Pease (she played on days of our lives for years)
Mitzi Kapture (from Silk Stalkings and some movies and stuff)
Alicia Coppola (Another World, Jericho, etc)
Charlotte Ross (Days of out live, NYPD blue)
Stacey Farber (Degrassi: the next generation)

for actresses I know they all certainly have the chops to turn out amazing characters and would be recognizable without being major superstars or anything maybe even Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster, Sabrina the teenaged witch)

One actress who is more widely known whom I think has the chops (but likely will get me flamed lol) is Lindsay Lohan...and it could maybe be good for her career to finally get people to take her seriously but again she's pretty well known and I think we all like seeing familiar faces that don't instantly evoke strong thoughts of past work? ::shrug::

for guys I can give a list of guys I think i'll have to base on looks haha cause some of these may be too famous. lol...

Patrick Muldoon
Dermot Mulroney
David Strathairn
Hayden Christensen
Shane West
Michael Easton
Rider Strong

now the guys on my list can certainly pull it off so it is based on their acting...as well as the eye candyness of them. haha though we all know that Gabe is really all the eye candy we need. lol :)

okay my list is long so i'll cut it here for now and i'll be back in a few to give my story ideas...oh and yea...i'm not SAG or anything haha but I'd like to throw myself on the list of actresses. I haven't really done anything (yet) but I have been trained for film and boy would i love a chance. lol

Wow, Lady Leslie, what a GREAT idea!!! I remember Wes Bentley from "American Beauty" and thought from the beginning that we would see his name A LOT after that role (esp. playing opposite against the likes of Spacey, Benning, Cooper, & Janey). And NOTHING!!

Has he been in anything since "AB"? Excellent casting choice. Also, Spacey's "daughter" in "AB" has been in several few roles since that picture (can't remember her name - but as a child, she was Harrison Ford's daughter in "Patriot Games"). Another good one for "IT Season 3."

Welcome back, PreciousThings!! Looking forward to your weigh-ins. Ain't it great about season three?

Lots of great ideas have been landing on this thread, so it'll be a blast to hear your thoughts.

There is a young actor who is very talented, but quite underrated that I think could really sink his teeth into a role in season three....Wes Bentley. First saw him in AMERICAN BEAUTY as the troubled son of the retired Marine played by Chris Cooper. Bentley has leading man, dark good looks, but seems to tap into some deep angst or manic fury with every role.

Perhaps Bentley could play a Wall Street executive grappling with the stress of outrage and discontent on the part of his investors. No longer the "darling" of Wall Street, his sense of identity and mastery has been shattered. Paul has to help him through his stages of grief.

Hi everyone...it's my first post in ages (took a hiatus while I waited to see if we were getting a season 3 lol) anyway let me reply to two previous posts then i'll be back in a few with my own thoughts...

AvgAmerican...you made mention of one scenerio with a female patient that was so terrified of men that she wouldn't be able to look Paul in the eye...I like this idea, but my question is...would this patient seek out a male therapist? would she actually give him enough of a chance?

Diba...that whole next door neighbor idea that's scared due to a robbery and doesn't seek help but is accidentally noticed and brought in by Paul is a very interesting idea

okay, i'll be back in a lil bit with my own thoughts...so for my long hiatus but it was killing me to keep reading the forums without knowing if we'd get a season 3 with paul and his patients. :)

I love Richard Schiff...not sure I think he is incredibly sexy but love the Toby character on West Wing and loved that character's "quiet yet explosive, in your face, always pissed off, no tolerance for stupid people" attitude...that made the Toby character sexy, in a very grumpy sort of way.

I would love to see Richard Schiff in any kind of patient role. In my head, I can see him playing a sex addict. Or maybe some kind of grief-stricken role.
Anyway, the man deserves more quality work offered to him.

So I will be sending a script off to HBO then....
In Norwegian of course......hahahahahah

No, I`ll be keeping it in my head I think.....but like April, I can play out whole scenarios in my head with this fantasy of mine....

And like Paul Weston said, its a mark of a highly intelligent person, to play out whole scenarios like that.....or its a sign of utter insanity....

I guess the last one sits better on my head...
