With all the creative talent and intellectual capacity on these threads, wouldn't it be fun to get YOUR ideas for casting choices? Who would you cast? Which roles and for what reason? Alright, IT fans & viewers, let the casting games begin!! I'll kick this off by throwing out Helen Mirren as Paul's therapist if Diane Wiest doesn't return. Ms. Mirren has excellent chemistry with Gabriel Byrne, is an acting powerhouse in her own right, would give Gabriel a magnificent foil against which to act, and at the age of 62, this Sistah is still sizzling...I mean it's unreal...my re-SPECT!!

After watching season 1 and the sessions with Sophie again, (I don't know how many times I have watched those)I really would love more younger patients in season 3. Its an absolute joy to watch Gabriel Byrne/Paul Weston interact with kids and teenagers. We have seen it in other movies as well, and he is so natural and at ease with them. I don't know which problem I want the teenager to suffer from, maybe drugs or child abuse? No I don't know, but love it if they can bring a teenager into session. -- Edited by Diba at 11/03/2009 1:33 PM PST

I'm suddenly thinking of a terrible old song from the 1980s ... by a British Band called The Thompson Twins. The chorus went: "Doctor Doctor Can't you see I'm Byrne-ing, Byrne-ing Oh Doctor Doctor Is this love I'm feeeeeeeeeeling??" "Doctor Doctor" on YouTube. I had hair like that, too.

Don't forget me!! I'm fresh from a failed exorcism! My hair is still singed, my eyebrows may never grow back, I may even need another round of CPR, do you remember what happened last time GB needed to do that??? It lasted for days.........oh Lord, don't get me started...... If any one needs therapy it ME!!! And I am willing to share him with a group. That's because I KNOW he will see my special suffering and want to keep me after school...so to speak...for a bit of one on one... Please cast me, please!!!!!

Jenlor, that is called reality tv...... Paul Weston locked up in a house with all of us, for at least 9 weeks! Then at the end, he must pick one of us to continue therapy one-on-one. The woman who needs it most that is....and sorry Jenlor...that would be me..... -- Edited by Diba at 10/31/2009 1:17 PM PDT

YES!!! I agree Diba......however..... I don't want group therapy. I am selfish. I want one-on-one, GB all to myself therapy. ![]:)](http://boards.hbo.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif) Cast ME!!! I've never, ever acted in anthing before....not even in a school play.....BUT...I'm sure I could learn....blink blink.... OR...how about use me as an experiment. A guinea pig.....get me to play one of the patients, and see how it turns out. They may find that diamond in the rough?? A complete unknown thrown in the mix for good measure?? A new fad may be started...getting people with absolutely no experience to act on tv shows?? Maybe GB would take me on as a challenge?? hahahhahaa

I have been on a byrneing trip, again.... and as always it hits me hard! Then I got a really crazy idea..... I just figured out what season 3 could be all about..... Paul Weston could offer some group therapy to the women here that is suffering big time from the mojo..... I could certainly use some therapy, not for the purpose to be cured, because I don't want that, but to understand and maybe get some advice to what to do when it becomes almost unbearable!!!! I thought I came to the point that I could handle HIM, but NOOOO! He hypnotizes me with his eyes, mouth, his voice....I cant breathe, it hurts so bad....and I discover tears running down my cheek.....I am totally lost I really need therapy

FYI ... Danny Futterman starred in the movie Birdcage with, among others, Diane Wiest. Wonder if that would influence her return to IT3.

Having worked for quite a few years with the seriously mentally ill, the "walking wounded" eg you and me, only go so far. AA's ideas, more interesting and much more challenging!

How would he handle someone with paranoid schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, or some kind of schizo-affective disorder? What if he were to treat someone who is strong and capable on the outside but broken and fragile when alone to the point of rocking and thumb-sucking? How would he earn the trust of, say, a woman who is so terrified of men that she can't even look Dr. Weston in the eye? Maybe this is a selfish suggestion, but I would love to see that interaction - something that demands the most tender and gentle of Dr. Paul. I really liked your idea AA. This could be very interesting to explore, both for us who watch and for Gabriel Byrne and his co actors. But I am sure it would be even more demanding and exausting than previous seasons.

AvgA, Some great ideas there. If Paul was to treat someone really disturbed, I think they would have to show some of the daily life of the patient. I would like to see that done. Now that the script writing is free to go anywhere, the writers can be very creative. I, too, would like to see some real diagnostics by Paul.

I was thinking about the soap the other day. I hope they gave it to a women's shelter.

I don't chime in much but I have some thoughts to share on this. Dr. Weston has never really worked with anyone too terribly messed up. His clients have had some crises, yes, but nothing that could be found in the DSM-IV in my opinion. Paul. I know a suicidal 10 year old child. What would he do with that? I would also like to see him explore what it means to be a man and challenge some of the stigmas that have become norms for men today, particularly men's emotional side. How about a storyline that causes Dr. Weston to question his atheism because of the faith of one of his patients who then has a miraculous recovery? What would happen if Dr. Weston treats a patient who challenges his sexuality, for example he finds himself developing feelings for one of his male patients who isn't necessarily pursuing him? I agree with whoever said that having Dr. Weston treat someone with the same struggles as Gabriel Byrne would be very cathartic for him. But I doubt that Mr. Byrne would do anything that might draw attention to himself either directly or indirectly. I hope to some degree that the writers of IT3 take into consideration the demographic of people who need the most help or who are hardest to reach and then structure a patient around that type of person. I hope that they realize that the therapy that Dr. Weston does in that room will have resounding effects as kindness is shown to someone with issues similar to the character sitting opposite him. Anyway, just some thoughts.
