Fighting For Home Rule

Just a thought--

I wonder if any of Gabriel's ancestors/relatives took part in the Irish fighting against the British?

I wonder if he has any stories to tell?

And back to the Byrne, Boine, Burn, pronunciation ...

When I heard him pronounce his name the first time (mind you, NOT in person!), I immediately thought of the Matt Damon role as "Jason BOURNE."

On my computer it looks gray, green, brown and blue. Are those the correct colors?

Hmmmm, the Wicklow County Tartan is cute...with a pair of purple suede slingback pumps and a wrap sweater in celadon green to complete the ensemble, it would make a killer skirt. Thanks, Lozzie.

You need some therapy then Sweetbud. :^O

I'm trying to figure this out. With an English accent, his name gets pronounced "Bern"; with an American accent is is more like "Buhrn" and in Irish it is a bit like "Boihrhun"

OK I give up.:^O:^O

My (limited!) understanding of the subject, gathered when I was in Kilt Mode, is that Byrne is an anglicised version of Gabriel's Irish name .. this happens a lot. Séamas becomes "James" and Ó Broin becomes simply "Byrne." I've noticed that Gabriel pronounces his last own name "Broin" though, especially when he's on Irish TV or Radio.

Here'e the Wicklow County Tartan that goes along with the Ó Broin name.

Actually Neek, it's true that Gabe and Ellen were married for eleven years. They separated in 1993, but didn't divorce until 1999. Since they married in 1988, that's where the eleven years come from. It's been called the friendliest divorce in Hollywood.
