Help me understand this please! I am a professional single female with a post graduate degree and a healthy income. I have friends and family and normal interests. I enjoy television, plays, and literature but am not consumed with the characters within them. I have admired the physical beauty of many male celebrities but never to the extent that they occupy my thoughts while I work, while I eat, while I visit friends and while I sleep. But all of that has changed now... Gabriel Byrne?.Gabriel Byrne? Gabriel Byrne?.What in the world have you done to me? I can only surmise that the producers of the show have developed some sort of secret pheromone hypnosis beam that they shoot right out of his eyes, through my television screen into my living room. How else can it be explained? Gabriel Byrne is handsome, of course, he has always been so. But, I could list 20 men that are younger, with bigger biceps, less wrinkles, more chiseled jaws etc. and NONE of them can make my heart stop beating just by the way they whisper the word ?IF?. (See Laura week 8). When I am watching the show, which is pretty much whenever I am at home, I often stop breathing when he speaks. I don?t mean to, but my breath just stops. I replay episodes over and over again, I can recite Laura Week 6 word for word, ?I?m really glad that you called?, ?Losing you is a big deal?, ?It's because when I wash the dishes the soap gets under my ring and? ???.long agonizing pause,??.irritates the skin?. My obsession is full tilt at this point. I surf the net every day to find out what show he might appear on this week. I am renting and buying his movies as fast as I can get them, I would buy his book or his audiobook but I am afraid that reading or, god help me, hearing him describe his inner most thoughts, childhood memories and experiences in that melodic, soft, lilting voice would just put me completely round the bend. I am dreading the end of the series next week but hoping I can snap out of this trance once it?s over. Anyway, I?m interested to know exactly what?s he got that other men don?t have? It's some very powerful mojo whatever it is. Obviously most of it is Byrne himself. His face is not only beautiful but its kind, its compassionate, his intelligence shines out of his eyes and he is a brilliant actor. But I think part of it is Paul Westin too. This character is what women all over the world secretly want and never get; a kind, verbal, soft spoken, strong, caring, listening, beautiful man with a eyes that can see right into your soul, a vulnerability that breaks your heart and expressive hands that could?.brush your hair back over your ears?or etc etc etc. What a man, what a man, what a man, what a might GOOD man.

Miss PDX: On that day, ADW was en route from Amazon. ADW is in the VCR now and I've seen it MANY times. Today's events have actually helped me start to get over the Mojo, so in a twisted way, some of the Ladies helped me rethink some things. Himself, as you put it, is still an incredible actor, especially in ADW, cause it doesn't look like pretend on that couch. But that's what actors get paid to do, yes?

Until I looked up one day and "Little Women", "The Man in the Iron Mask", "Hello Again", "Live from Lincoln Center", "Killing Emmett Young", "Excaliber", "Defense of the Realm", "Wah-Wah", "Jindabyne", and "End of Days" were on my DVR recordings list. Plus, "Dark Obsession" was in my VCR with "A Soldier's Tale" and "A Dangerous Woman" in the wings. Plus, "Stigmata", "Weapons of Mass Distraction", "Spider", "P.S.", "Somebody is Waiting", "The Usual Suspects", "Enemy of the State", "Assault on Precinct 13", and "Miller's Crossing" were stacked by my DVD player. Plus, I had bookmarked a bunch of YouTube GB TV and radio interviews. Oh yeah, and the audio version of "Pictures in My Head" was downloaded onto my desktop. These are the words of a true fooked Mojo struck woman. She needs our help!! She is far gone and.... Leslie, did you say that "A Dangerous Woman" was on it's way (in the wings)? which is to say you have not seen it which is to say... you have not seen Himself in it? ![]:)](http://boards.hbo.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif)

It's too bad that you don't love yourself enough not to want to look this ugly and say something so lacking in integrity. For the record, I wear a WOMEN's size 11, buy my shoes in Italy or at Nordstrom, and have dated some of the world's most fascinating men. I have beautiful feet, but in all my 46 years, I've never had a man ask me for a piece of foot. He looked to my heart and my mind because the twinkle of my eye and the radiance from my smile invited him to do so. I hope Gabriel never sees this posting. I sure wish I hadn't.

I wish I wore a size 10. I wear a size 11 -- a size that 85% of shoe stores don't carry at all. Ellen Barkin wears a size 10 and GB married her. And that Aine O'Connor girl looked like she was a big-footed girl, too. But I suspect that GB's feet may be smaller than mine which is why I typically go for guys 6'2" and above. Gabriel's Mojo effect on me is a mystery to me. He's not anything like what I deal with. I like a little more junk in the trunk -- GB is little light through the pants for my taste. I'm typically attracted to taller, bigger guys with tans. Think Patrick Wilson, Hugh Jackman, Daniel Sunjata, Denzel Washington, Billy Campbell, Boris Kodjoe, Chow Yun-Fat, Antonio Banderas, Jason Taylor, Rick Fox, Colin Firth, Joseph Fiennes, Matthew MacFadyen (he could use a tan, too, but he's got a something). Yet, here I am, and here I'll be.

Hey Touched - I caught your other clarification post on another thread, but I'm glad you cleared that up for me. How did I hold out so long? I had about four times when I thought, "Oh Girlfriend, you gotta get onto these boards." But a couple of times, I hadn't logged in properly and had to rush out somewhere. Another couple of times, the phone rang and the urge had passed after the conversation. I was close another time when one of the Ladies actually made an impassioned plea for the lurkers to come forward. And honestly, I really thought that this was a passing fancy. I could stop anytime I wanted to. I was in control of this. Did I mention that I was checking all the late night show and morning chat show schedules to see if he was going to appear? Then I was lurking on the boards everyday. Then Season Two of IT was announced and GB's Emmy nomination was announced and I was powerless to walk away. The promise of more access to GB. I felt my mouth water. I knew that I had to practice saying, "Hi, my name is LadyLeslie, and I'm a Byrneholic." So, thank you, Ladies, for the very warm welcome, especially you, Touched, cause you're rockin' the boards. I want to be you when I grow up. I'm sure my posts will taper to a normal level soon, but I had thoughts about many things over the last few months that I never posted until now. I gotta purge!

Hi LadyLeslie, Welcome! I am constantly amazed out how the lurkers (a term of endearment, I assure you) continue to eek out of the woodwork! Its funny, when I first posted this thread, which was the first time I ever posted anything, I THOUGHT I lurked on this forum as long as possible. I thought I had held out until I was going to explode and had to do a TELL. I had to. But some of you guys have been silent so much longer than I could imagine. How DID you do it. How did you suffer in silence so long? Anyway, just for the record, and I believe the record has to be clear here, I DID know about Gabriel Byrne before IT and I DID think he was a sexy pretty man but I wasnt bitten by the fever the way I was once IT began. Hey lauriejoan: Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I've enjoyed your postings and I'm grabbing hold onto the last shreds of sanity in this GB whirlwind. Uh, by the way, what does ROFL stand for? Can't figure out the shorthand intuitively, but it comes up frequently on these boards. Thanks a bunch. Yours in the Struggle, LadyLeslie

As you know, we all agree with your view that GB is a sundae of a man who we admire and lust for with equal intensity. Grab a spoon -- you are in good company.
