Help me understand this please! I am a professional single female with a post graduate degree and a healthy income. I have friends and family and normal interests. I enjoy television, plays, and literature but am not consumed with the characters within them. I have admired the physical beauty of many male celebrities but never to the extent that they occupy my thoughts while I work, while I eat, while I visit friends and while I sleep. But all of that has changed now... Gabriel Byrne?.Gabriel Byrne? Gabriel Byrne?.What in the world have you done to me? I can only surmise that the producers of the show have developed some sort of secret pheromone hypnosis beam that they shoot right out of his eyes, through my television screen into my living room. How else can it be explained? Gabriel Byrne is handsome, of course, he has always been so. But, I could list 20 men that are younger, with bigger biceps, less wrinkles, more chiseled jaws etc. and NONE of them can make my heart stop beating just by the way they whisper the word ?IF?. (See Laura week 8). When I am watching the show, which is pretty much whenever I am at home, I often stop breathing when he speaks. I don?t mean to, but my breath just stops. I replay episodes over and over again, I can recite Laura Week 6 word for word, ?I?m really glad that you called?, ?Losing you is a big deal?, ?It's because when I wash the dishes the soap gets under my ring and? ???.long agonizing pause,??.irritates the skin?. My obsession is full tilt at this point. I surf the net every day to find out what show he might appear on this week. I am renting and buying his movies as fast as I can get them, I would buy his book or his audiobook but I am afraid that reading or, god help me, hearing him describe his inner most thoughts, childhood memories and experiences in that melodic, soft, lilting voice would just put me completely round the bend. I am dreading the end of the series next week but hoping I can snap out of this trance once it?s over. Anyway, I?m interested to know exactly what?s he got that other men don?t have? It's some very powerful mojo whatever it is. Obviously most of it is Byrne himself. His face is not only beautiful but its kind, its compassionate, his intelligence shines out of his eyes and he is a brilliant actor. But I think part of it is Paul Westin too. This character is what women all over the world secretly want and never get; a kind, verbal, soft spoken, strong, caring, listening, beautiful man with a eyes that can see right into your soul, a vulnerability that breaks your heart and expressive hands that could?.brush your hair back over your ears?or etc etc etc. What a man, what a man, what a man, what a might GOOD man.

Welllll, I WAS being productive, and then I just HAD to check the Mojo thread. So much for that ?productive? idea. Ha! Wow, PDX, thanks for that link to ?Dark Obsession.? It actually LOOKS like a great movie from the trailer ? shows you what those film folks can do with a little cutting & pasting (and some eerie background music/singing). And, LL, I WAS going to describe MORE of those scenes with GB, but, well, uh, I didn?t want the HBO police coming after me. You were VERY good in restraining yourself with that description. Oh, THANK YOU, Jen, for the shout out on ?Royal Deceit.? Yes, GB is quite yummy in that ? co-starring Helen Mirren (and Christian Bale). Supposedly, the film was ?originally released? in something like a FOUR-hour version, but was cut down to what Gabriel deemed as something ?unrecognizable? in its current form. Oh, my ? where could those extra 3 ½ hours be?!?!? Yes, like Jen, I HIGHLY recommend ?Simila? ? the tux scenes outdo ANY other tux scenes in ANY other movie (GB or otherwise). And he?s quite lovely in this ? some MAJOR kissing (and more!) scenes with Julia Ormond (who GB was dating at the time). Oh, yeah, and the stutter ? THUD! Ruby!!! Are you actually saying you?ve NEVER seen ?Simila???! Ebay, Amazon, B&N ? all of those sights have it for cheap (esp. eBay). Go for it! NO Gabriel Byrne film library is complete without it (and you?ll NEVER be the same!). Yes, and to follow up on Jen?s post, Simila says to Gabe at one point in the car, ?I want YOUR mouth on MY mouth!? OMGOMGOMOGMG! Actually ?Spider? does take a couple of viewings to figure it out ? but I enjoyed it the first time I saw it because of the ?twists? that are involved. If you don?t want to be totally confused, then I?d recommend ? like Jen ? that the ?extras? be viewed first. But it tends to take away from some of the quirkiness of it. Hey, Touched, welcome back to MOJO land. Now, exactly where IS that screen test??!!! Could you repost for us?!!!

APB! For any of you that have access to the right equipment can someone Please someone...anyone, get me a still shot of Paul leaning against Gina's bookcase last Friday, I need the full length shot, not the face or upper body shot...I need the shot to include his head, his chest, arms, hips and legs. The shot needs to include those goddamn blue jeans he wore last Friday. He is facing Gina and arguing and leaning and its the whole body shot and it just tears my ass up...supremely beautiful shot of that man...jayzus, please girls I am begging you, get me this photo and once I have it, I will undoubtedly yell at you and ask you why you gave me something that is going to distract me all day...but we can cross that bridge when we come to it. -- TouchedByThPoet http://sites.google.com/site/touchedbythpoet/Home

Please continue. ha ha ha, (my thread sister's are all shaking their heads now, they know how needy I am) thank you for your very very very kind compliment. In the continued spirit of this conversation, and as a tie in to the "lustier" desires of the target audience of this particular thread, have you by chance sampled the "Paul and Laura" story? Said tupperware makes an appearance in that story, and it goes tumbling to the floor at a very crucial moment. I can hook you up if you'd like to read it. -- TouchedByThPoet http://sites.google.com/site/touchedbythpoet/Home

Gabriel Byrne is quite probably the > most appealing man I have ever experienced on a > movie/TV screen....incredibly, shatteringly beautiful man > > I lament that GB has not had the high-caliber roles > in truly great films that his enormous talent and > personal charisma should have landed him by now. Inspired, I am so glad you posted these thoughts about GB. They totally capture my own feelings about Mad Handsome. When I watch his face and listen to his deliver on IT, I am so mesmerized that I can barely follow the plot!! The mojo will keep you pinned for quite a long time!

What about Royal Deceit?? Christian Bale is in it as well....... GB is absolutely beautiful in this one.......it's very, very Hamlet-like........the first scene alone is worth watching..... Spider is a great movie, but it takes multiple viewings, and it wouldn't hurt to watch the extras once or twice either, just to figure out what the hell is going on!! I had forgotten about T's story....omg......thanks for posting that snippet again.....that just cracked me up....handing out all of P's quilts to the homeless!!! The ONE AND ONLY quilt has made history here....displayed in his library......omg.....how incredibly, freakin' awesome is that??? The hottest I've ever seen him, other than as Colin Mackey in ADW.....is in Smilla's......omg.....just......omg.....tuxedo?? Makin' out while driving?? Are you kidding me?? ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME??? HE IS SO UNBELIEVABLY GORGEOUS IN THIS!! oh...and he wears the long black coat too, at one point...and, and, a black turtleneck, and and and and...he looks up at her in a stairwell...he whispers, 'can I kiss you?' AND....HE STUTTERS!!! holy hell......it's enough to take your breath away..... Well, I should be quite productive now today......damn this MOJO!!!

Hey Touched, I just read your "Screen Test" it was impossible not to laugh. You are one talented lady, do you write comedy for a living? Seriously, it's marvelous, huge props to you! If anyone hasn't read this in it's entirety, I strongly urge you too. My daughter just got into USC (Los Angeles) grad program, pursuing her Masters in their Dramatic Writing program. So Touched, how did you learn how to do that so well? Surely it's not just a past time, say it ain't so. This is one of the bits that made me laugh out loud, although it doesn't portray so well taken out of context, so I hope it's okay to post it here. Gabe says this to Touched when he find out she is one of the IT girls on this HBO forum. "There are few quiet ones out there like AnnaBlum, Curly and Avg American that love me as much as the rest, and last but not least there is Pmungle. She doesnt write things but she sews a mean quilt. She sent me about 100 of them in the mail. I have so many that I have started giving the extras out to the homeless people. I hope she doesnt mind."[/b]

Gothic is a film that should be watched when one isn't sober. This is hardly a glowing endorsement for this celluloid mess. Why Gabriel Byrne made this movie, I'll never know. Perhaps it boiled down to the man needing a paycheck, plus he's redeemed himself in my book with IT, so I'm gonna relax on that rant a bit. I made the mistake of watching this film sober because, hey, I'm a tee-totaler and never had a desire to try any recreational pharmaceuticals so I'm always sober, but it was very, very, verrrrrrrrrry disturbing. I'd like to call Ken Russell's lunatic ass and demand that he give me back that 120 minutes of my life. Enjoy your GB film fest!
