Help me understand this please!
I am a professional single female with a post graduate degree and a healthy income. I have friends and family and normal interests. I enjoy television, plays, and literature but am not consumed with the characters within them. I have admired the physical beauty of many male celebrities but never to the extent that they occupy my thoughts while I work, while I eat, while I visit friends and while I sleep. But all of that has changed now...
Gabriel Byrne?.Gabriel Byrne? Gabriel Byrne?.What in the world have you done to me?
I can only surmise that the producers of the show have developed some sort of secret pheromone hypnosis beam that they shoot right out of his eyes, through my television screen into my living room. How else can it be explained? Gabriel Byrne is handsome, of course, he has always been so. But, I could list 20 men that are younger, with bigger biceps, less wrinkles, more chiseled jaws etc. and NONE of them can make my heart stop beating just by the way they whisper the word ?IF?. (See Laura week 8). When I am watching the show, which is pretty much whenever I am at home, I often stop breathing when he speaks. I don?t mean to, but my breath just stops. I replay episodes over and over again, I can recite Laura Week 6 word for word, ?I?m really glad that you called?, ?Losing you is a big deal?, ?It's because when I wash the dishes the soap gets under my ring and? ???.long agonizing pause,??.irritates the skin?.
My obsession is full tilt at this point. I surf the net every day to find out what show he might appear on this week. I am renting and buying his movies as fast as I can get them, I would buy his book or his audiobook but I am afraid that reading or, god help me, hearing him describe his inner most thoughts, childhood memories and experiences in that melodic, soft, lilting voice would just put me completely round the bend. I am dreading the end of the series next week but hoping I can snap out of this trance once it?s over.
Anyway, I?m interested to know exactly what?s he got that other men don?t have? It's some very powerful mojo whatever it is. Obviously most of it is Byrne himself. His face is not only beautiful but its kind, its compassionate, his intelligence shines out of his eyes and he is a brilliant actor. But I think part of it is Paul Westin too. This character is what women all over the world secretly want and never get; a kind, verbal, soft spoken, strong, caring, listening, beautiful man with a eyes that can see right into your soul, a vulnerability that breaks your heart and expressive hands that could?.brush your hair back over your ears?or etc etc etc.
What a man, what a man, what a man, what a might GOOD man.

Oh Etopt, lost indeed. Kevin Costner is a pebble compared to the mountain of beauty that is Gabriel Byrne.

And, I just got back from reading the In Treatment HBO threads.........dear Lord........Clare is quite the buzz kill.........remind me never, ever to go over there again......I MEAN EVER!!!!

I have to admit..........I was an avid David Duchovny fan......but never, ever did it extend to this obsession......honestly........this is crazy.........
And, if we end up in an institution.......hopefully they have internet access..............

...and i will make one more observation about my kevin thing. I was very young when it started... he was very cute waaaaay back then. It was a sexy hormonal fantasy thing.... (i never cared if he opened his mouth to speak about anything.... )
SOOOOOO UNLIKE my mature, sophisticated, cerebral attraction to the hot sexy blue-eyed big-nosed irishman!  
Honestly, though, Touched, I know what you're saying. I have read books i've heard him say he'd just read or was reading.... i've watched movies i'd never have seen just because i've heard him say they were his favorites, or that the stories were important to him..... i've read PLAYS..... I've researched subjects and organizations because i've heard him say their work is worthwhile.... all the time, expanding my own knowledge of the world around me. It's a totally different thing with him. for me, anyway.
....and ......have you noticed, he's drop dead sexy handsome gorgeous????
Also, I think i may have figured out the pheromone lazer beam thing that has killed us. I heard GB say, on a radio interview once, that he's always nervous when beginning a shoot on a movie or show. So one of the first things he does is go right up to the camera, and stare it down.... that takes away his nervousness. I happen to think that he himself is loading the mojo into the camera to be absorbed by whatever the camera shoots, so when we see it, the mojo just oozes out through our screens.... soaking us.... permeating our brains.... changing everything we thought we knew about life.....
i'm just saying......

Ok, a break will be given. And I will say that Russell Crowe looks smashing in a skirt (see Gladiator), Duchovny looks good in just about anything...I get it...I've had crushes before too.
Im never sure whether I am embarassed or proud of the fact that I've never ever had anything like this for a celeb before.
I mean for god's sake guys, I was just posting my gut felt confessions, then it grew to writing stories and episodes, now I'm making videos.
Where does this all end? Will I wind up in some sad ass institution wearing a straight jacket crying out for Colin/Paul/Mackey/Weston?

i know, i know! i was lost, but now i'm found.
i DID enjoy some of his movies, and he was pretty cute in some of them, and he did have love scenes and kisses... i was attracted to the flash.... but i'm more attracted to substance now...
gimme a break... others here have confessed to their russell crowes, david duchovnys, and others...
but I can truly say, once gabriel crashed into my life with no warning whatsoever, there's been no one else! i promise! he's ruined me for anyone else....ever..... life will never be the same again. and i wouldn't have it any other way!

Unfortunately, that was always my impression of him too.......I saw him on the Bill Maher's show and he acted like a real jackass, arrogant and stupid.....lol. Now that's an interesting thought, Gabe on that show!

As if there's any doubt left, the MOJO has me, hook, line and sinker.
I must confess, until late January of this year, cute Kevin Costner was my "man". Not that I googled him spent hours on the computer talking about his eyes and his nose, read everything i could find about him, spent a fortune collecting his hard-to-find movies.... i was JUST a fan... saw all his movies, and caught him when he did interviews or tv appearances.
after 2-1/2 hours with mad handsome, it was "Kevin WHO?"
I watched him (Kevin) on letterman (recorded last week, finally watched this morning). The man could barely string together 5 words in a cohesive sentence. I was stunned. and disappointed. he sounded like an idiot.
So, I realized that falling in love with Mad Handsome has elevated my standards. Just another way that he has "improved" my life. That beautiful voice, coupled with his passion and knowledge of the world around him, his sensitivity, his creativeness, he is so articulate, and yes, like all of you, i could listen to him read the phone book!
sorry kevin. it was fun while it lasted.

I, too, have never dreamt about Mad Handsome in my sleep. Perhaps someone well-versed in dream interpretations might decide to weigh-in on what it means to actually have a dream about Mad Handsome. Or not. Something about the subconscious mind comes into play, I heard. What etopt has described above falls into the catagory of how-things-play-out-in-your-head, a happy place where Gabe flies you posh class to Paris for the weekend, arranging for you to be ensconced in the Royal Suite at the Plaza Athenee' Hotel, ordering up a couples' massage session in plush terry cloth robes...SCREEEEEECH!!
