Help me understand this please! I am a professional single female with a post graduate degree and a healthy income. I have friends and family and normal interests. I enjoy television, plays, and literature but am not consumed with the characters within them. I have admired the physical beauty of many male celebrities but never to the extent that they occupy my thoughts while I work, while I eat, while I visit friends and while I sleep. But all of that has changed now... Gabriel Byrne?.Gabriel Byrne? Gabriel Byrne?.What in the world have you done to me? I can only surmise that the producers of the show have developed some sort of secret pheromone hypnosis beam that they shoot right out of his eyes, through my television screen into my living room. How else can it be explained? Gabriel Byrne is handsome, of course, he has always been so. But, I could list 20 men that are younger, with bigger biceps, less wrinkles, more chiseled jaws etc. and NONE of them can make my heart stop beating just by the way they whisper the word ?IF?. (See Laura week 8). When I am watching the show, which is pretty much whenever I am at home, I often stop breathing when he speaks. I don?t mean to, but my breath just stops. I replay episodes over and over again, I can recite Laura Week 6 word for word, ?I?m really glad that you called?, ?Losing you is a big deal?, ?It's because when I wash the dishes the soap gets under my ring and? ???.long agonizing pause,??.irritates the skin?. My obsession is full tilt at this point. I surf the net every day to find out what show he might appear on this week. I am renting and buying his movies as fast as I can get them, I would buy his book or his audiobook but I am afraid that reading or, god help me, hearing him describe his inner most thoughts, childhood memories and experiences in that melodic, soft, lilting voice would just put me completely round the bend. I am dreading the end of the series next week but hoping I can snap out of this trance once it?s over. Anyway, I?m interested to know exactly what?s he got that other men don?t have? It's some very powerful mojo whatever it is. Obviously most of it is Byrne himself. His face is not only beautiful but its kind, its compassionate, his intelligence shines out of his eyes and he is a brilliant actor. But I think part of it is Paul Westin too. This character is what women all over the world secretly want and never get; a kind, verbal, soft spoken, strong, caring, listening, beautiful man with a eyes that can see right into your soul, a vulnerability that breaks your heart and expressive hands that could?.brush your hair back over your ears?or etc etc etc. What a man, what a man, what a man, what a might GOOD man.

I feel a bit untethered right now. My infatuation has not gone away but obviously I have a lot of other stimuli every day here to compete with thoughts of this beautiful man. But there isnt a day that goes by that I dont think of him and that I dont want to check in with you guys here. It is a bit difficult to keep up when you are only allowed a little bit of time at cafes. But I manage to do it somehow. I am confused how Bertie changed names again, that was disorienting. What is up with that? I have also meant to post some things about italy but once I have finished reading all the new stuff here each day my time runs out. Anyway, I am beginning to tire out over here. I have been over saturated with all things Italian and am beginning to long for home. 3 weeks is a very long time. Touched

> Where is everyone putting their poster? I have no clue. I feel ridiculous having ordered it but dammit, its the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, I am still a million miles from home and have not seen mine yet but I know the photo is stunning. I will probably build some sort of special inner sanctum shrine to mine. Nightwind advised me to build a shrine to inspire my writing. Do you think this is what she had in mind? Touched

And as for restoring balance to your life, you have to really want it. You have to want the balance more than you want the emphatuation with GB. Sometimes that first step is the hardest. Do you know that we love your guts around here?

I admire you women who have the strength to put a poster of the man up (especially that one). I decided not to buy figuring that I spend enough time reading these threads, watching GB DVD's and watching the few IT episodes I have. I didn't want to spend the rest of the time staring at a wall. I mean fook! enuff is enuff. It was just time to draw the line. -- Edited by alithecat at 06/01/2008 8:39 PM PDT

> Where is everyone putting their poster? well, I think I am going to take mine to work since I spend the majority of my time at that hell hole and since I am on these boards all day there, what is one more little distraction? Not getting much work done lately anyway.

Gawd, I can just see me trying to put in up on my ceiling above the bed and surely falling to my injury. Then having to explain it all. Nope. I cannot even have it in front of me. I have it on the wall just to the right of me and my computer desk. I have to look over and up to gaze on Himself. He is VERY distracting in this picture, and I have to get SOME work done ya know?

I think that mine is smaller then yours. (I was two minutes too late reading this: Beloved just walked through the room and he can eye-ball stuff like that.) I'm looking at it next to an 8 x 10 photo of my father-in-law, well what you can now see of him, it's half again as high but not much wider across. I'll ask Beloved next time he wanders through. (He thinks I'm nuts getting it, well joke's on him: he's upstairs paying the bill for it!!!!! ) -- Edited by CountyMayo at 06/01/2008 6:07 PM PDT

Yes. I can't remember who was kind enough to post the site, it wasn't the first site - that one said "sold out".. imagine that? It was the 2nd site. Came in days is now occupying the center spot on our mantle. (Has blocked a few family photos but what the hell: that's family, I KNOW what they look like.) If they don't like it, go to a different house - see if I care!
