Help me understand this please!
I am a professional single female with a post graduate degree and a healthy income. I have friends and family and normal interests. I enjoy television, plays, and literature but am not consumed with the characters within them. I have admired the physical beauty of many male celebrities but never to the extent that they occupy my thoughts while I work, while I eat, while I visit friends and while I sleep. But all of that has changed now...
Gabriel Byrne?.Gabriel Byrne? Gabriel Byrne?.What in the world have you done to me?
I can only surmise that the producers of the show have developed some sort of secret pheromone hypnosis beam that they shoot right out of his eyes, through my television screen into my living room. How else can it be explained? Gabriel Byrne is handsome, of course, he has always been so. But, I could list 20 men that are younger, with bigger biceps, less wrinkles, more chiseled jaws etc. and NONE of them can make my heart stop beating just by the way they whisper the word ?IF?. (See Laura week 8). When I am watching the show, which is pretty much whenever I am at home, I often stop breathing when he speaks. I don?t mean to, but my breath just stops. I replay episodes over and over again, I can recite Laura Week 6 word for word, ?I?m really glad that you called?, ?Losing you is a big deal?, ?It's because when I wash the dishes the soap gets under my ring and? ???.long agonizing pause,??.irritates the skin?.
My obsession is full tilt at this point. I surf the net every day to find out what show he might appear on this week. I am renting and buying his movies as fast as I can get them, I would buy his book or his audiobook but I am afraid that reading or, god help me, hearing him describe his inner most thoughts, childhood memories and experiences in that melodic, soft, lilting voice would just put me completely round the bend. I am dreading the end of the series next week but hoping I can snap out of this trance once it?s over.
Anyway, I?m interested to know exactly what?s he got that other men don?t have? It's some very powerful mojo whatever it is. Obviously most of it is Byrne himself. His face is not only beautiful but its kind, its compassionate, his intelligence shines out of his eyes and he is a brilliant actor. But I think part of it is Paul Westin too. This character is what women all over the world secretly want and never get; a kind, verbal, soft spoken, strong, caring, listening, beautiful man with a eyes that can see right into your soul, a vulnerability that breaks your heart and expressive hands that could?.brush your hair back over your ears?or etc etc etc.
What a man, what a man, what a man, what a might GOOD man.

Naahh, Kathleen's right. She's already reached out to him once and the woman said she'd get him the note and she didn't. What makes you think she's *really, really* gonna get it to him now? And further more, what's there to say? "I wrote you a note, but the bitch tossed it out, so here's what I basically said, blah, blah, blah." LOL Sorry, but I know how Kathleen feels. She went to a lot of trouble and was told one thing when something else happened. I don't like getting bit. I don't care who it is GB or no GB.
But - Kathleen, you do what you think is right. I'm a fan of GB's but not where I want to put myself out there to get burnt twice. It ain't worth the effort.

No. She, the lady from the Center, admitted to me that she got her note, his note, the check and that she tossed the note. No real explanation, in fact she said that she still had it with her, that Tuesday night, when he was there. Then, poof.
It didn't contain underwear, of any size or design, no house keys, no phone numbers, in fact because it was from the ladies of these threads I only put my first name, and my screen name. (The one to the Center had my full name, address and such, because the check had the same info.) The Center knows me, that's why I went that route vs. another.
No, she torched me.... now she's saying if I provide a copy of my note, she'll get it to him. But it was a hand-written note and it offered him good wishes for the Camelot shows (was written before the shows). It also said something about the quilt and these threads.
For one thing I didn't keep a copy of a hand-written note and two how stupid would it sound now? "good luck during the run of Camelot?" No, he wouldn't think I to be daft....

But County, why do you assume they actually trashed your note? Why would you think they haven't given it to Mr. Byrne? Because you didn't yet get a reply from him?
I'm going to sound a bit preachy perhaps but, how many such notes do you think he must have gotten these past few months with all this IT craziness going on? He must be getting letters and gifts by the truck load!!!
And to be honest, if I was one of Mr. Byrne's people (isn't that what they say, my people?) I would advise him against replying to personnal communications from fans. First, there's the question of time... Could he possibly have the time to reply to everyone? And if he were to reply to YOU then wouldn't he have to reply to everyone else? I'm sure your note was special but isn't everyone else's as special.
But mostly, where would it leave you if you were to get a reply? Would you be satisfied or would you want more? I'm sure you're a nice well intentioned lady but he and the people around him have no way of knowing who's nice and who will turn out to be a pain.
I'm just saying, the fact you didn't get a personnal reply from him doesn't mean he never got your message. Enjoy the thought that he got it, that he read your words, saw your handwritting. Even if only for a short while, you entered his world... perhaps you made him smile, perhaps you touched him...
I understand you "invested" money in this but, don't be so down and angry. Who knows? You might get that reply afterall.

I wouldn't know where or how.
That's why I had asked the Center to hand it to him - they sponsored the event, they invited him, and they were there with him!
They received the envelope more then 2 weeks before the event; the check was cashed. If they weren't going to honor that little request, and she admits she had the note, then why didn't they just say that? They have my email, they've followed since asking again for money. WTF?

Yes it was a private! event at some rich person's home. He and the cultural minister of Ireland were the honored guests and Himself talked about keeping the creative energy flowing between the US and Ireland
A good cause and that's fine, wonderful. I just decided that rather then the check being from me, it would be from us (an addendum to the quilt that Pmungle paid for herself and all.) So this quaint note was composed, a note included to the person at the Center, explaining why the second note was enclosed along with all that "gas" money. Funny thing, she read her note, they've cashed my check but gosh golly gee whiz the note to Himself was trashed.
Now what's funny about that?

Well County at least you tried. I have no doubt that if HIMSELF had seen the note, he would have acted on it. But his handlers probably keep a lot of it from him so it never makes it to him. You tried.

Been waiting and waiting for some reply, any reply, for the donation I sent to the Irish Arts Center. I included a note, in the name of all of us here, to Himself (I can't bear to type his name anymore), who was an "honored" guest last Tuesday. Big write up about what he said and how 150 (minus me) enthusiastic patrons came out and heard him. Want to see what I got just today VIA EMAIL?
On behalf of Gabriel and our entire team, thank you for your generous contribution which helped make last Tuesday night?s event the huge success that it was and for helping the Irish Arts Center build a great future for Irish arts and culture in America.

Judging by this piece of politically correct PR babble, it didn't happen. Me thinks the envelope was opened, the check separated from the note, and the note hit the circular file pile.
I don't regret the donation, just the brush off.
I've always said that I deal better with information that without; I got this information but I can't say that I'm dealing better now that I have it. Errrr

Kathleen - I'm leaving Philadelphia Airport on May 28 and will return June 11 - that's two full weeks. I'll still pop in here - Dad's all fixed up with a computer. Do I have your permission?
