Am I his Kitchen Soul Mate?

I found a picture of Gabriel Byrne standing in his kitchen. Aside from him looking yummy in his black pajama get-up, he has a smashingly handsome kitchen, which happens to look remarkably like my own.

It follows then, that his decorating tastes are superb.

I have taken this opportunity to (shamelessly) offer a side by side comparison of our kitchens.

I offer this as concrete evidence that he is my soul mate.

To enhance the photographic experience, I asked Gabe to pose in my kitchen too.:)

I find this odd. No one I know who lives in L.A. would refer to Malibu like that. On a map perhaps it might look like it's an hour north, but to someone from L.A., Malibu is just part of L.A. People here are used to hoping on the freeway or PCH. A forty minute drive is nothing round these parts, particularly for a nice meal.

Thank you for your weigh-in, Jaydes, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you because the empirical evidence presented in "Finding The Love Of Your Life" makes a strong case in favor of homelife compatibilities and the inevitability of familiarity.

Exhibit A: MR. PRETTY GABE is pictured comfortably lounging at home, so he's in his lair, his non-threatening, get away from it all, place of restoration, I-can-be-who-I-am sanctuary.

Exhibit B: Several overlapping elements of Touched's and MR. HOT IRISH GUY'S kitchens exist...color, layout, texture, materials. The Brotha's taste is compatible with that of Touched's. He would instantly feel a comfortable familiarity the moment he entered Touched's kitchen. The impact of that familiarity is not to be underestimated according to the source material. Their essences match on at least that essential level.

Exhibit C: All men want to know that when they come home, they are the king of the castle. Even the soft-spoken ones like MR. HOT MAN. Especially the ones like MR. IRISH LOVER MAN. He would love that Touched is willing to live as he does cuz he thinking that he's got to take her to Dublin or Galway a couple of times a year and feel confident that she'd fall in with his mid-Century Ireland environment. Remember, he wrote a book about it. To suggest that Touched's careful nesting of her kitchen is a simple matter of fate, negates the rich tapestry of experiences and exposures that shaped her visual sensibilities. That they would synch up with MR. SWEET GABE's aesthetic sensibilities, even tangentially, provides a delicious foundation upon which Touched could build.

Fate alone and decorators could never capture that. Keep the faith, Touched, and keep that photo of your kitchen with you in case you run into MR. G-MAN. It's a superb chat-starter.

OK, another County heard from. Miss Julie -- I'm still trying to figure out the whole marriage-to-Ellen-Barkin thing which was clearly anything BUT the nice Irish Catholic-raised scenario. My older brother has a theory about those not-so-pretty girls like, let's face it -- Ellen Barkin, that land a hot guy. By the way, he was raised Catholic, too, though I was raised Methodist.

He says that they turn up the volume on sex kitten, steamy vixen action to offset the fact that they'll never be bona fide pretty, ergo, hot guy follows his, er, base animal instincts and the promise of wild, intense entanglements. Bottom line, she's a freak-mama.

Problem is: all the other guys/predators know that's the deal and lay in the cut waiting for hot guy to stumble or turn his back so they can get a chance at the vixen. Sometimes the vixen is a bit of a man-killer who chews up and spits out intrinsically shy guys like MR. SWEET GABE. It's exhausting for hot guy, so more often than not, he ultimately defaults to sweet pretty girl with some moxie who won't be a man-eater. The question you have to ask yourself is, "Has MR. LOVER POET MAN reached that point in his life?" If so, you've got a window, and your nice Irish Catholic-raised girl scenario will play very well. Stay confident and keep the faith. Later...

I'm a marketing executive, so consulting and ideas are my life. I wrote that totally as stream-of-consciousness off the top of my head, but the hat trick for YOU is execution. You could do it, though. You've got the goods.

It's just obvious to me that your prima facie potential synergies with MR. HOT IRISH MAN are writing, reading, travel, wanderlust, listening, insight, sweetness and spice. You're both pretty in the way you both like people to look. And that kitchen decor match up ain't no joke. Seriously. I read a great book that I recommend to all of my awesome single girlfriends and you might really enjoy it, too. "Finding The Love of Your Life" by Dr. Neil Clark Warren. He's the guy that founded eHarmony dating website, but he wrote this book long before that and it's a stellar treatise on compatibilities, one of which is decorating styles.

Hmmmmm, between compatible kitchen decors and a stage door flirt, a smart pretty Girl (um, I mean YOU) could find herself on a red carpet with MR. SPECTACULAR MAN only he'd be beaming and smiling at YOU. Check it out. Later...

Hey CountyMayo:

You're my GIRL...you've got GUMPTION!! I love it. Attitude where it counts...that whole, "I am woman, hear me roar" kinda thing. Yes, yes, don't change a thing.

I'm sorry if I missed something here...Touched is the one with definitive declarations of soulmate status. So, I guess I thought she was looking to lock up mating rights with MR. IRISH LOVER MAN, but er uh, it would seem that I was mistaken. Hey, I've made my ideas public...sounds like it's a race to the mating rights.

I just can't get that horrid photo of MR. CHARMING with whatsherface on the red carpet at the Tony's out of my mind. Seems like there's room to maneuver. I can't help but think he might be in the midst of a brief exotic phase. At my core, I can't shake the feeling that he likes to come home to porcelain, peaches and cream, meat-on-the-bones, blondes/redheads. Now that Christie Brinkley is newly single and trolling around the Hamptons and NYC, I'm thinkin'...no time like the present to build on a stage door flirt. OK, CountyMayo, keep the faith. Later....

Oh my LL I do love the way you think. From your lips to GBs ear! Man it sounds like you have planned the entire thing out! What a detailed scheme. I think you have been thinking of this for quite some time. Its apparent to me that I need you as my life coach. Do you, by any chance do this kind of thing for a living?

Hey Jenlor:

Thanks, Girlfriend. That's very nice of you to say. Of course those nuns and priests at Mount St. Mary's College in LA (All Women's liberal arts institution cloistered the hills of Brentwood) won't give you a degree unless they really educate you. No frat parties or panty raids. Nah, you either cut the mustard or cut out. But you're sweet to say that about my writing. I'm humbled with all of the gifts and talents flying around on these boards.

Aaaaaargh, you think so? Really? I should have joined in a long time ago? Honestly, I thought this jones was a speed bump, then looked up and discovered it was a tidal wave. So, I'm all in now...couldn't take it anymore.

Oooh, yeah, party at Touched and Gabe's crib!!! We already know what the kitchen will look like. Doesn't he have nice feet? I'm 5'10" with a size 11 foot, so I suspect my feet are larger than his, but he looks like he keeps them soft. Oh Touched, go beyond the veil, Girl, and report back. His feet look soft and from the couch scene in ADW, his cute little bum looks a tad bit furry where it counts.

Jenlor, you're precious. I'm looking forward to your weigh-in on ADW. Later...

Wait, wait, wait.

Touched doesn't get all the buzz and advice just cuz she's cute and smart. Some of us are fun to be with.

If you're gonna play here you have play with everyone - except Pmungle. Once you meet her, you'll know why!
