...and what about LAURA, still curious - help :)

Hi friends. By the way, I am gratefull to all you who so generously have contributed your time so that I can enjoy IT even more. Thanks Livvy, Babeeblues, Paxon2, Jolie, everyone! Thank you!

Another one:

Before Laura/Season-1 vanishes from our memories completely? At the time I was just discovering IT and I really did not pay as much attention as in season2; even deleted whatever I had from season-1 off my DVR? but I am still curious about it.

I remember quite a bit, but not clear on the entire thing... so what better place than this one to go over it? (smile)

LAURA/SEASON-1:
I remember that Laura lost her mother at a young age (14, 15?). Her father was depressed and she had to take care of him for a year or so, and apparently this was very hard on her. At some point she went away and lived with a married couple for some time?a summer I believe...

- I am not sure if am confusing it with Sophie?s story here ?

But I believe Laura was attracted the husband of the couple, but never were more than friends. Years later (don?t recall exactly the length) She did have a sexual affair with the guy when he came to her area on business of some kind and then went to visit her at her fathers home and had dinner with them (I don?t recall the city).

The guy became a regular at the house and during this time they did have a sexual affair. I am not sure if this was her first sexual experience but apparently it was important in her life, some how? I believe Laura said to Paul in one of the sessions that she seduced the guy (.. not sure here...), but Paul was railing her about the guy taking advantage of a situation because he was much older than her and in doing so, damaged her somehow.

Ok, so that is what I remember? So please set me straight. I would like to know the following:

In general: What exactly was the problem with Laura?

-What precisely brought her to Paul? How did she choose Paul? (yellow pages, a recommendation?)

-Why and when did she get so hooked on Paul? (Unlike Mia, I don?t recall she was lonesome? So what was she trying to fill in her life with Paul?

-We know that Paul liked her a lot (could we say in love with her?). Why?... was it just physical attraction? Or just his desire to ?rescue? her?

-Finally, if you can pinpoint what her ?problem? was? Was it resolved? I know she decided she had enough of therapy? that she was finally convinced Paul did return her affections and decided to move on... Then, the miracle of miracles? Paul went to her house to love her? but then he had the anxiety attack and well, he left? And that was it ! ????

My only conclusion here is their romance was simply a case of "mutual transference?" Although I never heard this conclusion anywhere... Because for two people who were so "crazy" about each other - in their own way - isn't it strange that neither one has ever tried contacting the other one?

Does that make sense?????

What a name to come up with: Gertrude Badcrumble I am laughing so I am sure all my neighburs can hear it...

...and she should be a (not very good) clarinet teacher, and her young students (when playing,) make their parents think they have spawned the devil.

f you have seen any of comedian Eddie IZZARD's schtick, you will know exactly who Mrs. Badcrumble is ;)

But I like your story line Noraa, and Paul being in a no win situation says, Oh fook it, I moyt as well have sex wid ya den, ya crazy ole spoy woman

And maybe she wanted the same as Laura, and she threatened him to give her what she wanted, if not she would say that he had seduced her. So that he had to seduce her, to get her to tell the Union that he had NOT touched her. Hmmm

Hmmm, a quasi-trumped up rape charge with a bit of improper sex scandal thrown in for good measure? We're getting that storyline in real life already with our professional athletes and elected officials, Noraa. But, heck why not? The operative word there, Noraa, is SEDUCE. We haven't seen Paul seduce anybody yet....season three sounds like a good a time as any for Paul to kick off a sex spree.

You are flattering me Lozzie.

But I am sure that we could come up with material for IT3 if HBO needed some inspiration.
Because we HAVE inspiration, and that is Gabriel Byrne. It is a pleasure to think about him, and to think about what kind of situations we would like to see him in...

Hm...
Well, the bed room scenes had to be better than the one in the end of IT1. That is for sure.

But we had to think about some challenging things for him too. What about if Dr Paul got a homosexual young man as a patient, and that patient fell in love with Paul. How would Paul handle that? And on the same time Paul would discover that his oldest son was homosexual. And then his patient and his son met accidently outside Pauls house...

HBO, do you hear.
We have ideas for you! ;)

It would be interesting if Paul got a patient with that name, and that she also looked like that name. But think if she was a person that Paul had to treat with all his charm because she was a spy from the Therapist Union to see if he treated the ladies/patients properly. And maybe she wanted the same as Laura, and she threatened him to give her what she wanted, if not she would say that he had seduced her. So that he had to seduce her, to get her to tell the Union that he had NOT touched her. Hmmm

Wendy (The Runner) is the woman Paul told Gina about in their last meeting, that he met while getting coffee and who lived in his neighborhood. A future prospect for a relationship.

That name always reminded me of Peter Pan

I don't care if she's name Gertrude Badcrumble as long as we get a season three!

ARRGGGGGGGGGGH!! LL no likey that name....forgive me, but for purely selfish reasons, I'm hoping Paul gets to hug up with someone, anyone, with any other name. The agony and the ecstasy of a season three for me would be to have to watch Paul get involved with someone with that name. I'm hoping Paul's new girlfriend will be named Brooke or Stacey or Lana or Dominique. YOU HEAR THAT, HBO?

Hey, sweetbud! I see from your posts that you're trying to fight the "Mojo" that is Gabriel Byrne. Again, remember, DON'T FIGHT THE MOJO. It's impossible, and will only make you frantic. Just go with the flow, gal.

Yeah, "Laura" was on Grey's Autonomy after her stint on Season 1 of IT. Also, if you're a Melissa George fan, go back to the old series "Alias" (I think it was Season 3 or 4) where Laura/MG was a butt-kicking super-spy (the show was Jennifer Garner's BIG break-out role). On both of those other series, she elicited the same emotions as she did on "IT" (you either LOVED her or HATED her guts!).

Our Mad Handsome referred to her in one interview as "Melissa Gilbert" (a la "Little House on the Prairie"). Bwah! Poor guy - he's not only prop challenged, but name challenged as well. And we loof him for it.

ALSO, sweetbud, did you SAY in another thread that you were headed to "Louisville" next week? Would that be the same "Louisville" that's in Kentucky? If so, you'll be in MY neck of the woods (I live in a suburb of "Derby City"). PM me, okay?

Hi Noraa,

As Jen wrote back on the other thread, there seems nothing to be done. This has been going on for me for well over 6 months and it has only gotten worse--better! I don't even have HBO so didn't see season one until it came out on our netflix. (Have only seen week one of season 2 at a friend's place in NYC who has HBO, so i am WAITING and avoiding spoilers for the forseeable future. )

With week one I was completely enamoured, then the shift from loving the character and the series to the actor himself, then what seems to be the traditional path, the videos, bought and rented, scouring the web, finally the threads, lurking for about a month before getting the courage to engage and now, really enjoying, needing the connection.

It is painfully, gloriously mystifying. Welcome!

Hi Sweetbud,

you sounds just like me... You think about Dr. Paul Weston and Laura, and you write here in forum instead of working... And the In Treatment persons are on your mind all the time. This is a "hard" life my friend... :) But what shall we do about it...

Ok, I just had to write, when I should have been working (help me!) I was on the threads today scrolling around and was reading HBO official about Laura being an unrealistic plot line etc. etc.. Then I come home, Bryne-iaced and watch Shade (C+) himself looking good--Thandie WHAT are you thinking?! Then I'm watching Charlie Rose, sweet, great interviews and well, I better get to sleep, so I come upstairs, not quite ready, turn the TV on, it's Grey's ANATOMY, which I don't watch, and there is LAURA with an eastern European accent playing a Doctor! Weird! Really weird! Another IT kind o' day...Just wanted to share, my sisters...
