Hi, everyone: Some of the discussion forums for the other HBO shows have music threads -- which are admittedly "off topic" as far as the show is concerned -- but fun nonetheless. So I thought I would start a music-discussion forum here, for those of us who want to talk about music, our favorite bands and our favorite artists -- or share links to some of those artists, songs or performances. So, tell us, who are some of your faves, what are some of your fave clips? Or who / what have you been listening to lately? Any new songs or artists catch your ear? To get things started, here's a clip of a great song with a great theme -- which inspired the name of this thread : "Long Live Rock" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-S5aVuKsgI -- Edited by MichaelCollinsI at 03/01/2008 8:21 AM

I was reading the following linked article, and found it kinda sad that I don't even know who some of these people are, but yet, I remember Tiny Tim. And why isn't Millie Vanilli on this list? *snork* Regarding Frankie Valli...."He consistently sang in a voice designed to send dogs running for cover and perfect for breaking glass." (1974 - does Killer agree?) Regarding Michael Bolton...."R&B classics deserve their place in musical history and should be protected from this man's desecration of all that is holy. It's only right." He's the number one choice - I agree wholeheartedly! So who agrees, disagrees, has other entries, etc? Link to 10 Most Annoying Singers And here's a link to the 50 worst songs ever. Starship's "We built this City" - I AGREE!!!!! I cringe every time I hear it. Link to 50 Worst Songs -- --- --- Open Chat Room WARNING: Talk can become a bit *ahem* raunchy Thurs 10:30pm EST; Sat 10:30pm EST; Sun 3pm EST (or can be used whenever a group wants to gather) http://www.scbg.net

Like you I was A LOTyounger, my husband and children younger and I just seemed a lot smarter and more together. The film was so on target: about life, relationships, the whole damn thing. The music selections were the best. Secretly I think that's a job I think that I would like to have had: to be a music muse. The movie was funny without being offensive or in your face. Someone else posted on one of these threads that there isn't enough laughter anymore and she's right. To this day, whenever we go to a minor league baseball game, this movie plays over in my head and I remember how much simpler life seemed way back then. I was so consumed by Kevin Costner! that my brother-in-law spent way too much money on EBay to get me an original album (?!) from the movie as well as cd and dvd. They are gifts I really appreciate mostly for the effort he went through to get them. Forget what I said about being together the words above disprove that. And here I am writing on these threads!

Lately I've been listenin' to Al Stewart (The Year of the Cat), Staricase Spiral (I Love You More Today Than Yesterday), John Denver's Sunshine On My Shoulders (a "cheer-me-upper" since it was 28 degrees and snowing here yesterday), as well as some Salif Keita from his Moffou CD, Boston, Kronos Quartet, and various John Lennon stuff.
