Thought we might start a thread around all the Gabe directed paths we find ourselves taking...books esp. lately. Who knows where next. What food does he like? Speaking musically, yesterday I decided to order the Soundtrack to Miller's Xing it it has stayed in my mind, so beautiful and of course, Gabe's connection... I, like so many of us including MH are a major Beatles fans. Last night, driving home, I heard the first cut from the remix, Get Back, Pauls' voice sounded like it was covered in gold! Unbelievable, all these new elements emerging! Bet GB has his set now. So anyway...a misc. shared loves thread, if we want... -- Edited by sweetbud at 09/09/2009 7:33 AM PDT

Hey, hey thread-Sistahs....glad to see you posting after the holidays. Golden Satellite award nomination for Gabe, huh? Sounds like a fledgling outfit if the ceremonies are in Century City, but I'm glad for the recognition for Gabe and the show. I hope he wins. GO, GABE!! Thanks for the weigh-ins on the book...sounds like good holiday reading indeed. Toodles....

The book reminded me a bit of some of Somerset Maugham's (msp?) novels, a writer who wrote much earlier. He wrote The Razor's Edge, Of Human Bondage, and many others.

Hello thread sisters, givin' thanks for you, hope the Thanksgiving weekend was lovely for all. Just checking in-- finished The Sea, the Sea, what a glorious romp of a book. Re-Watched Iris, what an extraordinary woman! I belong to a poetry salon, half the women are Irish Americans and last month one sooch read a poem by John O'Donohue, who I didn't know I knew til I googled him, but the Blessings poems and book! I was so touched and ordered it and also one of his books of essays, one on Belonging. He, ex priest as well, seems like someone GB either knew or I'll hazard connected with... Also, when I was looking at the website of that Glasgow bookstore, Derry's, Kerry's? I learned Nuala O'Faolin had died. Where was I? Her posthumous book comes out in 2010, Yours Rosie. I loved her fiction so ordered one of her bios... Anyway, an update. Waiting on Shipwrecked and NEW Yorker Out Loud, waiting on DC. Waiting on the semester ending. sending warm regards out into the silence yr SB

Sweetbud, don't ask me where, but I think the guest list for State Dinners is public knowledge. Could it be a quick visit to the White House website maybe? Desiree Rogers is the White House social director, but I think the official title is something else. If you just HAD to know, you could find out if la principessa was actually invited. Guest list was 320 people....hottest ticket in town, according to the media. -- Edited by LadyLeslie at 11/24/2009 7:30 PM PST
