HBO bigwigs have come to their senses and have agreed to a second season of In Treatment. GB has also agreed, in honor of all the fans he met in NYC, and all of us who were there in spirit. HBO runs a cattle call announcement in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. They want new talent. The directors and producers want Paul to have a solid relationship with someone not a patient. Paul has moved out of the house, separated from Kate, and moved his office to a professional office building. The director wants Paul to be able to meet many women, not professionally, but in everyday life. No moral problems! This means he can become interested in someone anywhere; in his office building, his new apartment building, in a store, at a doctor's office, wherever. Of course each of us has to become a member of Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) in order to try out. (I've been a member of SAG for years; my boobs converse with my waistline daily). Anyway, go to it folks.

Teaching him how to swim? Great idea! You'll have so much fun writing that.

I keep a list of books to read...that one has been added. I hope there is more for you to say about GB. Write about teaching how to swim, write about him combing his hair, write about him laying in bed, reading a book, write about him doing anything at all...you know we would all love it!

You know, one of my favorite books is Gaudy Night, by Dorothy L. Sayers. I read it every couple of years or so. The main character is a writer and an academic and she is in love with someone but she can't decide what to do about it. One of her colleagues, an older and wiser academic, advises her: Use you scholar's mind. Bring it to bear on this question. It is the best resource you have to figure this out (paraphasing here, though I should have it memorized by now!). THAT is what I decided to try to do in my stories. Bring whatever brain power I have to focus on what I was feeling about this show, the character of Paul Weston, and the actor who embodied him. I tried to do it justice and I think I accomplished what I set out to do. I mentioned elsewhere on this board that the process of writing this was a kind of "exorcism," a getting out of what was bottled up inside me. So I'm done for now. I might have "Stella" come back someday and teach Gabriel to swim, though, if I think there is something else to say. Thanks again. Stella

Thanks for sharing it with us. Stella, I'd like to second what lauriejoan said about part one and part two. You are a gifted writer and academic (whether you are a professor in real life or not) Thank you for the beautiful, thoughtful, well-written story. I would love to read more...how bout' a book? Seriously, one of you gifted writers (there are several of them on these threads) could write some sort of book based on In Treatment/Paul Weston/Gabriel Byrne. It could be a fiction or non-fiction like some kind of psychology/philosophy in television, etc...Has anyone considered this?

Stella. I just read Part 1. It is beautifully written. thanks so much. You have captured so much of the powerful and often confusing feelings that IT, Paul Weston and Gabriel Byrne have evoked in me., and you created a GB/PW character that really breathes. You are incredibly insightful and have a real gift. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Oh Stella... I hope that you don't "shut up" for too long. You do such an exception job writing these pieces. I scroll up and down, reading and re-reading the piece. It pulls you in and it ended nicely, but not necessarily forever. You did a terrific, wonderful job. I enjoyed reading all of the story! Thank you. -- Edited by CountyMayo at 05/31/2008 7:21 PM PDT
