STORIES FROM HOME on the EAST COAST

The Capital Irish Film Festival will be December 10 - 20, 2009 in Washington, DC.

Stories From Home is on the schedule.

One of the ladies from the Threads has contacted them asking if Gabriel will be there.

She received the following response:

"We're currently trying to get Gabriel for the festival although it'll be hard as he goes home for Christmas and the festival is in December. We do have lots of other artists involved coming in though. Tickets are set to go on sale on October 5th. Facebook is acting up so I lost your message but I think I've answered all your questions. If not, just let me know!

Thanks, Ronan"

Anyone who would be thinking about attending this festival (especially if GB is there!) should email and inquire...

Let's let them (AND HIM) know that we want him there!! Maybe, after the success of the LA screening, if he knows we want him, he'd arrange his Christmas travel schedule to accommodate the film festival ?

Just a thought.... Does that sound like something he might consider?

I'm hoping.... going to email now.

Here's the website link... let me know if you have any problem navigating it. It appears they're working on a new site.

That's where I made my reservations, after coming across that blurb a month or so ago about him being spotted in Bar Dupont.:)

Anyone else get a thank you note from solas nua for their contribution to support Gabriel's film's showing? I received a nice note dated Nov 6th from Ms. Murray.

Hey Ladies, I'm catching up on thread postings...so sorry to hear the news that Gabriel won't make it to the DC Festival. Here's hoping that this means an even better opportunity is coming for all of you. One door closes, another door opens.

Don't give up hope...I rooting for you.

New York State has been having gorgeous weather. It is in the 60's, sun shining, a few clouds, no rain, no wind.

Are we talking about Ida?? Is this rain or snow??

We are unseasonably warm here right now...I have put the snow tires on the car....so watch...we'll get the least amount of snow EVER this year...but hey, I don't mind.....it's like insurance..you have to pay for it, knowing that you never want to use it!!

And yes..to those going through the rains now, and those who are gonna get crappy weather...be safe....:)

Thank YOU, Lozzie, you are too sweet!

And I can't listen to that song either - I end up getting tears in my eyes, and then am all kerflumped.

I don't think he realizes how special he is, and that we're not JUST looking at his outward appearance (although that doesn't hurt!). It's the INNER man that's lovely.

Jtomppert that's really beautifully put.

I wonder if Gabriel expected the film to be a bog-standard bio-documentary, with a couple interviews, a commentary track, some conversations with some of his actor buddies, and retrospective clips from his films. He seems like a modest man. Perhaps he did not expect the camera, the director, the producer and ultimately the audience to all fall completely in love with him. Perhaps he did not expect his story to be of such a high degree of interest as it has proved to be.

I found when I finished watching it, I was in tears (I cannot listen to "All In The Game" by Tommy Edwards without a lump coming to my throat) and I had this really searing desire to go and sit with Gabriel and have a long, long talk.

That feeling persists to this day.
