Bill Compton played by Stephen Moyer

In his 173 years on the earth, this vampire has seen more than his share of cruelty and violence - from humans and vampires alike. While he holds no illusions about his own existence, Bill has returned to his family home of Bon Temps hoping to reconnect with whatever humanity he's managed to retain. He never expected this attempt at mainstreaming to include romance, however; especially with a human girl just strange enough to accept him for what he is.

Gosh, I didn't see those instances that way at all. At least I don't think I did. Bill is saddled with a vindictive bully of a sherriff, so sometimes small things like that are the only way he can rebel at all. Bill is half-smiling when he told Eric he'd need his credit card information - Eric knew Bill preferred that Sookie (his human by vampire law) not be dragged into the Dallas mess. Did Eric care? So Bill has a little fun with it, plus he doubled Sookie's fee which I loved.

Sometimes I wonder how Bill ever makes a move at all with all of the vampire politics and agendas seething just under the surface. No wonder he just wants to chill in the BT at his ancestral home and bang Sookie and drink TB and play Wii.

Thanks so much. I too was looking in for the last few days in the hope that it might be coming. I really love the way you make the story we know fit in with the new perspective from Bill. I like re-living the show through the dialogue, I hear the voices in my head so clearly.

I hope this means they'll acknowledge at some point in the show that it's more than just a naive first love on Sookie's part. I already believe it's more than just a physical attraction for both of them. The way Alan phrases things is intriging - something about them being separated longer than we (Bill & Sookie fans) might want. I guess so much will depend on how many seasons the show runs for. He'll need an arc planned to possibly tie things up for each of the next few seasons, although he seems confident of at least a season 4.

It was great. When he suddenly opened his eyes and turned his head it was like his other vampire, in Ultraviolet, after he was hit by the bullet in the playground and Jack Davenport thinks he's "dead".

I had actually been more worried than I'd care to admit about how far they were going to drag Bill down and how small a role he might play. I knew long before I read anything online or about the books that they were foreshadowing problems for Bill. Several things in S1 and in the first couple of shows of S2 - but certain problems and secrets are intriguing, even a little sexy. When I really started worrying was in Scratches at Fangtasia. The line that has bugged me no end and made me question whether Alan Ball was really going to keep Bill as a desirable choice was - 'I will need your credit card number so that I can make the travel arrangements". That line, the bit at the hotel when he makes sure that Eric is paying for the rooms, and in the bar where he says he's not going to drink the TruBlood, he just wanted Eric to pay for it. Those are the things that have bothered me most. More than bad hair, or appearing tired and helpless (with Lorena), even more than the futile "settle the score" punch, which were understandable in the circumstances. But almost nothing is less manly or sexy than a passive-agressive penny-pincher. Non of those lines were necessary for the flow of the story, like all the other mundane details that we're never shown. They were there for a reason, and the reason was to consciously or subconsiously turn women off Bill.

Recaps and tidbits from the Paley thing last night keep popping up, I love it! There's a nice write-up here:

http://www.shewired.com/Article.cfm?ID=23834

Explicit Bill/Sookie picture at that link, btw. Damn that scene was hot! And I love this little bit from Alan:

"In Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill?s (Stephen Moyer) case it can be about two people who thought this was not possible to have this kind of emotionally and soul communion with another creature and we discovered that it is possible. So I can?t imagine having the show anywhere but HBO."

I was posting on another board with someone who was there and she said she remembered "physical" being a part of it too, not just "emotional" and "soul communion." Alan so speaks my language! Love him.

The one in the coffin? LOL! That was such a cute interview, maybe my favorite he did across the pond. I think they were actually flirting at one point - the hoyay was off the charts.

Stephen is such a great sport, you know he had to be exhausted from all of those interviews. But I'm glad he did them as I thoroughly enjoyed every single one.

Isn't it? I hope we actually get to see more Bill during his abduction than when he's back home supporting Sookie. In my mind I've begun likening his captivity to the tribunal scenes from season 1 - so very hard to watch, but riveting and incredibly well-played. *fingers crossed*

Wasn't that an intriguing comment by AB? I'd heard spec that it was the case, but to my knowledge CH has never confirmed that she planned to kill Bill and had to be talked out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if AB and HBO were the ones whispering in her ear considering he's such a huge part of the show, if that's true and not just conjecture on AB's part.

I'm so intrigued to see where Bill's story will go now that we know he'll have one and not be sent off-screen to Peru for a whole season.

I was freaking out a bit at that moment. The camera held on him for several seconds and he looked soooo great. *slurp*

BTW - Slurp is the sound I make when licking the TV screen. I only do it when Stephen is shown, oddly enough. ;)

I am glad that I took a peek in here and at the Vault before starting work. That new interview with Stephen was cute, nothing new to be learned but fun and playful.
I'm not proud of it, but where TB and entertainment in general are concerned I'm like the dreaded one-issue voter - give me what I want or I'm moving on. And what I want from True Blood is Bill. Most of the news and what little of the spoilers I read before stopping weren't filling me with much hope. So knowing that Bill won't be relegated to only references by Sookie or brief glimpses of him gagged and bound is a welcome relief.
