Sunday night is just around the corner. Post reactions to the first episode of True Blood Season 2 HERE.

When the fans speak, HBO listens. Your reactions just might make it on the air.

To improve your chances of having your quote used on air, please be succinct and keep all 'full length' conversations in the episode thread.

It was a silver necklace that happened to have a cross charm..it was the silver that burned him...not the cross:)

But how silly of him to think a little necklace would do any real damage...lol

Didn't think it would be Lafayette in the car and was so glad I was right. It was a little freaky seeing Miss Jeanette with her heart ripped out. Not sure if I'm going to like the path Jason is going. R.K. will no doubt do a great job because, although he isn't my favorite character, in my opinion he is the best actor on the series. Loved the fact that Bill told Sookie he loves her. Am not a Maryanne fan though. Thought Eric's highlights were corny. Didn't think Vampires had to do that. Even though I love Bill, I hope to see more of Eric. The beginning rocked, the end sizzled but the middle was slow. Wasn't on the edge of my seat as last season. Still a devoted fan though.

Phillychik - WELL SAID!! Thank you so much for that perspective. I do not want to see each episode of the show degenerate into gratuitous, over-the-top sex scenes. That gets boring - or as Tara put it last Season: blah, blah, snore.

Here are the things I loved about last night's episode:

1. Anna Paquin has toned down her acting from last season. She was not so shrill last night.

2. Lafayette is still alive. SWEET!

3. Jessica is going to be fascinating to watch. Did I hear Bill say that two thirds of new Vampires don't make it through their first year????

4. Eric's attack on the redneck prisoner demonstrated how vicious an angry vampire can get. Was that a crucifix that buddy burned Eric's cheek with? I thought vamps weren't bothered by crosses? Anyway, I LOVED Eric's highlight foils.... kind of a tongue-in-cheek reference to how the character of Eric is a foil for Bill's character

All season long for, "damn it Bill Compton - I love you" ??? I don't know if its because we waited too long or maybe I'm a gal who's all for the chase but I'm sorry the episode just missed the mark.

It was so very unnatural. It's almost as if the writers bought all the ingredients (sex, chemistry, suspense, etc.) and cooked them all together without the love - seems like the episode was just plain ol' phoned in.

At least good ol Lafayette's still on the team.

Thank you for the welcome! and thanx for the compliment on the screen name^^

My mom got me hip to the show, and she has a habit of turning me on to shows already canceled...so I really didn't WANT to get into True Blood in fear it would leave me heartbroken by the end....How elated I was to know this is an ongoing series!!! I'm SOO happy to be a part of it while it's happening. I missed that with shows like Carnivale, Firefly, Jerimiah and Jericho....I just don't think my heart can take another good show shriveling up and blown away by executives on the top floors. I NEED this show to continue...lol

Great post.

I didnt think the show abandoned it (Lafayette reminiscing on his sins in the dungeon was perfection -I posted in his thread about it) but I think some of the new crop of fans and posters miss it entirely.

I understand how some say they want escapism and I get that but I think the show is just AMAZINGLY better when you look at the message behind it.

You can't get away from the Fan Girl/Boy sect....but you can't fault the show for the audiences response to it.

I think the sympolism is still there, just now that they have a foundation, they may feel they don't need to beat the topic home anymore. From the upcoming scenes, I'm lead to believe the dynamic between Vampire rights/Vampire Haters, *which mirror the right wing and left wing stances on homosexuality* is still there and will escalate.

I don't think they abandoned the symbolism...just gave it a rest to catch up to the last season. Keep the faith! lol Let's see how this all plays out before throwing it under the bus...lol I'm not gonna say I didn't enjoy the eye candy...that would just be a flat out lie...lol...but I think people can have their dose of intelligent story telling and still revel in the yumminess of the actors. I am from the school that doesn't think sex should be in horror...has no place really...give me the big boo and leave out the big boobs. And I went into this series not thrilled with ALL the sex...but the more I watched it...the more I realized it FIT....

In the deep south, there are two things a person can do...get it on and go to church..lol This show embodies that trapped in a small town mentality..trying to do ANYTHING for a quick thrill just to make life seem not so mundane for a couple of hours. You throw vamps in a town that has NOTHING else to do...there WILL be some naughty naughty...So I guess I'm sayin' the sex does have meaning in this show...and it's just as poignant as the "action".

I was so excited for Sunday night to come and nothing could have kept me from watching True blood last night! I'm so glad it didn't disappoint! I was surprised to see the dead one was Miss Maryann, but very smart to keep Lafayette. He is great! I have to admit I'm agreeing with others on the way they are taking Jason. He needs to be bad. I can see where they are going with him though. The sex scene between Bill and Sookie, well what more is there to say than WOW! They definitely have a chemistry between the two of them on camera, that pulls you into their world. I know I can't wait until next Sunday night. I didn't read the book, so I have no idea what is ahead. I hope others liked it and will tell their friends, so this show has a future on HBO. It's something a little bit different than the rest and it may not be for everybody but once you get hooked by True blood you are HOOKED!!:-p

First post here ...
I am one of those who love EVERYTHING about the show. The deep "read in between the lines" themes, the fun, the comedy, the sexual tension and eroticism ... ALL of it.
Last night season premiere fulfilled everything for me and I can't wait to watch it again and again (as I do until the next episode comes around ;) )
Thank you to Alan Ball and HBO for putting on such amazing TV!
I can't wait until next week.

I totally understand the symbolism in True Blood, I got it while reading all the books as well. I really like to watch TV shows so I can get away for awhile, not have to think so hard and just enjoy myself. I am guessing a lot of other people like to do that too. So yeah, I want more naked Bill and Eric b/c just for an hour I don't want to think about the racism and prejudice in this world, sometimes you need a break from it all.
