Sookie lost her parents as a child, not long after realizing she had the ability to hear others' thoughts. Though Sookie's grandmother took her in, the young woman's telepathy has been an ongoing curse. Hearing the intimate feelings of everyone in her small town has left her feeling impossibly alone. And those who haven't been scared off by her "talent" have disgusted her with their shady musings. After decades spent as the local oddball, Sookie has learned to serve up a combination of sexiness and sass that helps her deal with most situations, but she has yet to find out whether her bite can back up the bark.

Great she still can't make up her mind. Just kidding. Next she'll be making out with Hoyt. Again, just kidding.

> Just because Sookie takes back Bill's invitation does not mean she chooses Sam over Bill. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER She rejects Sam's advances too, after she takes back Bill's invite. > Just because Sookie takes back Bill's invitation does > not mean she chooses Sam over Bill. > > Wait and see... I agree we have to wait and see, the outcome may be different than we are dreading. I think to put my thoughts on the Sookie character in one thought (I was upset last night): I would just say since the third epi on she has just seemed so quick to yell and run off and huff and puff around. She also seems to be playing with Sam/Bill and who knows who else in the future's feelings. Don't like it. Yes, you can date more than one guy at a time, but, how about letting them all KNOW that. I can't imagine Bill wanting her the way he does if he thinks she is interested in other men. Remember, he was raised a gentlemen, he courts his women and he is loyal (he could have slept with Lorena, he did not). It's hard to watch the last several episodes, but I'm trying to let it go!!!

I love Anna Paquin as Sookie. She is a wonderful actress. Sookie is getting on my nerves. I can not believe that she can choose Sam over Bill. Sookie should have been excited to see that Bill was safe. Next week she is going to rescind Bill invitation so that he can not come in the house anymore. Sookie is really making me madddd........

She is great as Sookie, I do think their relationship is going to be the cliffhanger for this season, I hope they stay more with the books on the up coming seasons..... -- Edited by 3bitesachrm at 11/10/2008 11:35 AM PST

I adore Anna Paquin as Sookie. I hope the series continues for many years because I'd love to see the adventures in the book acted out. When I see negative feedback about Anna as Sookie I always remind my fellow viewers that it takes actors awhile to "become" their characters but once that tough 1st season is over the acting just keeps getting better. -- "One needn't be telepathic to pick up on that"

You are crediting me for a post I didn't write, as I simple quoted it and agreed with it. But I guess we can all agree to disagree. Sookie obviously has no idea of the extent of Bill's predicament. So faulting her for not being more emotional about it is a little out of place IMO. Then again the Sookie of the books has always been very ambivalent. Alan Ball and Anna Paquin are honestly just playing it out the way the books have made her. While I adore Bill and wish she'd just wait by the phone and door for him, that would make for boring TV. And I understand her side as well, that's all.

Justmusic, Everything you say has value, but I'm sorry, If you really love someone you don't act the way she is acting. I understand she is immature and has been through an awful lot, but I think what people are upset about is the fact that her "lover" may be in big doo doo and she is pouting about not having a date to Arlene's party. She also, remember, kissed Sam before when she was supposedly falling for Bill. It's hard to watch someone hurt a character that is as well thought of as Bill, that's all. I can tell you that if I had the tragedy in my life that Sookie has had I would lash out too, but you don't crap on your friends, and you don't start a new relationship with someone when your lover needs you as well

I liked Sookie last night. After reading all the comments everywhere I was almost expecting the apocalypse, but when I finally watched the episode, I actually really liked Sookie. She reacted the way most people would react. And a point needs to be made about the fact that she reacted badly IN THE BOOK as well. This isn't an AB or AP thing.
