Hey 555 ...

How so? Just when was he to tell her the truth and at what cost?

Death would have been the cost for full discloser so after reading the books I am far more empathetic to his character.

Don't get me wrong. i STILL think that Eric and Sookie are better suited but no longer harbor the same resentment I did before reading the books.

I know he fell in love and he was under direct orders from Sophie Ann but that didn't prevent him from telling the truth at some point - any point - before Eric forced him to. The fact that Eric had to force his hand keeps him in a cloud of doubt IMO and Sookie's too I think.

You know whats funny is that after reading the books I like and understand bill alot more. I now don't really understand why all the Eric fans are so down on him.

It is understood that he STARTED out being deceptive but FELL in LOVE with Sookie in the process. Also he was under DIRECT orders from the evil ass Queen so there was nothing he could do but comply.

Eric fans??

What do you say?

Even though I prefer Bill both in the books and in the show. I like Eric way better in the show than the books. I like AS portrayal of him. But, if the fans have anything to do with it you will see more book Eric in the show i.e. the request to have the pink spandex and AB considering that. I'm hopeing that they don't include that because that was more book Eric. I just don't see TB Eric doing that. TB Eric would show up, at the orgy, in a trench coat and then just drop it and have nothing on underneath. He wouldn't mess with spandex.

MoreEric posted a long informative post and then added: For that I give him and all the brilliant actors and writers credit.

So what do you all think?

I think, thank you for a great post and I agree, Alex is an exceptional actor and he takes what is given him and plays it beautifully.

Funny, but now when I read the books, I picture the actors from TB.

I think Pam is one of the best characters on the show. She would be better with Eric than Sookie. The screen lights up when Pam and Eric are on screen together. Kristin and Alex play off of each other so well.

In the books Bill dates another woman. I wouldn't call it a love interest. But AB could take that and twist it any which way he wishes. I hope he gets a love interest. I hope he gets a story away from Sookie. If they do away with Bill. I'm not watching the show. Stephen is the reason why I watch.

OK Bookies ... I have officially joined your ranks.

I have vampire fast read books 3 - is it nine? My favorites were book four and nine ... the one's that were more Eric 'centric" lol

At first I was suffering while trying to read CH and (must admit) that I literally scanned many of the chapters, but by the final book I was hooked!

I have a much deeper understanding of Sookie now and a new found respect for her. I like her very much and, though many may disagree, also like Anna portrayal of Sookie better after reading the books

I like Alan Balls and Alex's Eric MUCH more than CH's, whom I thought of as almost a Harlequin Romance/ Viking God character.

I did a random sampling ( opened several books and chose words CH used to describe Eric) Full disclosure: not a REAL random sampling or critical analysis because we're talkin about fucking vampires and not academic findings for a true study ...

She wrote her Eric as very expressive ... Eric smiled "radiantly" ... his eyes "widen in shock" He 'roared with laughter' he "wiggled" his eyebrows ... He looked down at himself "proudly" at one point stating when he was wearing a Viking belt " you can't take the Viking out of the vampire"
(paraphrasing)

Alex's Eric?

Ahhh ... not so much. Much more introverted, guarded and lethal. In an interview someone asked Alex why he played Eric so "understated" and he stated " I play the role of Eric so low-key because he is very confident and being loud dosn't mean being powerful. He goes on to explain why he has made the choice to play Eric in the quite manner he has and why Eric never needs to raise his voice.

Think back to the first time Eric ever appeared on screen. He presented with a deadly clam demeanor and wore his sexuality like a lethal weapon.

As I said before; when you came in the air went out.

We will not see this Eric "waggling his eyebrows" roaring with laughter or any of the past superlatives CH chose to define her character.

After reading the books I stick to my original assessment when I jokingly said that CH should build an alter and worship AB for buying the rights to her novels. The only thing that I would change is that she should add one Alexander Skarsgard to that alter.

heh

With that said I am VERY grateful that she provided us all with a most excellent outline of True Blood. Her conversations between Sookie and Eric are hilarious and she deserves all the credit for giving birth to this storyline.

However, it is Alan Ball who has brought us TB in all its funky glory and fleshed out these characters. Even when he makes mistakes ... like going on too long with the Mary Ann story in S2. HIS TB is unforgettable, thought provoking, raw, savage, intensely sexualized, funny, and full of touching pathos.

For that I give him and all the brilliant actors and writers credit.

So what do you all think?

Don't have time to correct typos so forgive me in advance!

I'm thinking Lorena will be the one to die unless AB has in mind to give Bill a another love interest while Sookie cozies up with Eric. Lorena would not just give Bill up after kidnapping him and I cannot see Bill loving or even liking Lorena again but who knows the mind of AB. Debbie Pelt is a big factor in book 4 so I cannot see it being her yet. She has more evil to do than what one season will allow. And we know how AB loves his evil women.
