Though she won't win any congeniality awards, Tara has been Sookie's loyal best friend since childhood. She's built up a tough exterior, taking care of her alcoholic mother, but the stress can make her quick to anger - and hard to employ. She may have found her perfect job - bartending at Merlotte's - where she can use her temper to keep unruly customers in line. Still, she has a soft spot in her heart for Sookie...and her brother Jason.
(Sorry, I keep creating this and it keeps disappearing - nothing personal, we love Tara!)

The way she treated Laf and Sook; knowing something was wrong with MA yet allowing her to stay in a house she does not own?
Exact-a-mundo! I'm the biggest Tara fan so yeah if I am like she has a lot of rebuilding to do in the fans eyes and the eyes of Sook that is saying something.
Jason and Tara would definitely make for some great story, but Sam and Tara are more suited for each other I think.
I agree they were so cute!!! I was a HUGE Jason and Tara fan until the sparks fly out episode. Jason is the type of guy who just needs to spread his seed all over town. He will need someone who can control him and Tara can't to that. As far as Sam and Tara what broke them up was Sam digging on Sook. Now that isn't a factor anymore I think they can work on it. After all that crap that happened in Season 2 I think Tara can be more acceptable about Sam being a sup. I think that is why Sam never told her what he his.
Her state of mind will continue to struggle, I wish they had opted to only have Eggs just realize that he was could accept what he had done and just left town
Agreed I suspect that Tara and Sook will be a total mess at the beginning of season 3 (which I can't wait for may I freaking fracking say!)
About the whole MA and Tara thing when Miss Jeanette did the exorcism and Tara killed the little girl that somehow brought about MA to Bon Temps. I know, I know, I know you don't have to say it. I'm thinking it too... WTF!
The thing they dropped the ball with is the whole tarot card reading between Laffy and Tara. Tara was supposed to choose between the lovers and she didn't at all! What was the point of that I dunno especially when they made a big deal of it. Maybe that will come in season 3.
I wish they would do something with the braids as well. Sook's hair changes pretty much every scene so I dunno if the hair peeps are caught up on her. Plus Bill needs a hair re-do himself. The second season he just seems off.

Yes season 3 I agree Tara should be smoking hot! She sported the small town country look for too long! Sook has the sultry ringlets and MA had sultry hair does as well. Daphine always had beautiful hair extend that to Tara. I agree I'm not a Beyonce fan but look at her weaves they are very nicely done.

Personally, if I had to choose between the braids and the wigs Rutina recently sported -- I prefer the braids. I think TB production should invest in a hair/makeup stylist versatile enough to give Tara's braided look some range. There are so many famous African American hair and makeup artists working in the entertainment industry. There is no reason why Tara should continue looking so "country." Small town girls can have big city looks!
As an alternative, if Rutina's Tara wants the straightened hair, those "silky straight" wigs must come off her head -- and go straightaway into the "circular file."  They do not look natural. Straightened African American hair has a "soft focus" -- almost velvety -- look when straightened. Again, an expert stylist would hook her up with a fabulous wig of the correct texture (a la Beyonce or Tyra Banks) that would be undetectable and natural looking.
I actually think such a styling transformation should happen anyway. It would seem an appropriate change considering that she will become the "human" of the "sexy, sexy, sexy" Franklin Mott in season three.

You know you do have a good point, but maybe the braid style isn't that easy to transition as it is a long process. Your point is taken as they did give Sookie and Maryann some different styling, I agree with ya on that one and it would be nice to see some changes in her character as well. Will there be growth or more grief for Tara.

I recognize that Tara Thornton and Rutina Wesley are in fact two different people or shall I say Tara is the character that Rutina plays. I personally don't have problems with Tara the characters hair (braided style or weave or whatever as I believe Rutina's look is as the character dictates and her style which has been written is thought to be part of what makes that character. Her look may dictate the trend of her town. She lives in the south and not necessary dresses as a uptown girl from Park Avenue.
I have seen Rutina Wesley in other movies parts and photos when her hair is straighten and her makeup is perfection and she is quite the knockout, but her braided style or weave or whatever doesn't bother me either. JMO.

I still don't understand why it was so important for Maryanne to "possess" Tara. What was the deal with the birthday cake that looked like a wedding cake? When Lafayette & Lettie Mae rescued Tara from Maryanne, she seemed really intent on getting her back. She was positive (and she was right) that Tara would return to her & Eggs. For awhile the story seemed to lead up to something big for Tara, but then nothing came of it. What, so Tara could be her bridesmaid? She didn't know about Sookie's otherness before that, so that wasn't why. I still am not sure.
To me it was like AB had an idea for one thing and then either completely forgot about it, or just changed his mind and hoped we wouldn't notice.

I would love her character to return to her old self. I suspect it will not be easy as the posssession was one thing but the writers had to let her fall hard for Eggs and for her to see him killed. Her state of mind will continue to struggle, I wish they had opted to only have Eggs just realize that he was could accept what he had done and just left town. I was hoping his conversation with Sookie was to tell her that he was leaving and say goodby to Tara for him. Yeah she would had been unhappy but now she is devastated! So hopefully there will be some good writing to bet her back on track.

Hey, give the girl some slack. She was possessed by a G#$ $@^! Maenad. She feels awful about what went down at the Stackhouse place. She'll help clean Sookies house.
As for her love life: I agree that Sam would be good for her, but she isn't good for Sam. She and Jason would make an explosive pair that would not likely last long. I don't think we've met the right man for Tara.
