AB: Eric and Sookie "are fated"

Well well well.

Seems the man has finally decided to put us out of our misery.

New interview from TV guide: http://www.tvguide.com/News/True-Blood-Tidbits-1010929.aspx

Sookie and Eric: Sookie's been seeing visions of her and Eric getting ? ahem ? friendly. Will their romance actually progress, not just in her head? "I can definitely tell you [we'll see that] in the show. I don't know if it will necessarily be in Season 3. Of course they're going to come together, it's fated. It's not something that's going to happen right off the bat."

Interesting choice of words - "fated".

I thought he may treat E/S as a fling (which is worse to me than leaving it out altogether) but that doesn't sound like a fling. It sounds like he may actually have half a clue about this story after all.

I can't recall him ever saying anything so direct on this subject. Usually he is "snakier than a snake in the grass" when asked about E/S.

Hopefully we will see some real progress in this direction as season 3 plays out.

I can wait for Season 4/book 4-- AB has already stated Eric Amnesia will happen. Not having to look at Bill with Sookie for 5 episodes is a good enough season 3 gift. Besides that the writers never said there would be no Eric Sookie development this season nor did they say Bill's betrayal will not be revealed.

Cannot wait to see those scenes.

Fans keep demanding more screen time for Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), but the writers won?t indulge them. ?You know, what?s funny is that he?s in the first two books; he?s a fairly minor character in Sookie?s universe,? Tucker said. ?There?s a lot of fan pressure that they?re supposed to be this big romantic thing, which actually in Charlaine [Harris]?s books doesn?t happen until much, much further down.

You guys are going to follow the books now! Better take bake that engagement ring Bill....

I think you don?t want to turn them into the nice romantic love interest who?s in every scene

Crap..we don't need every scene (tho I'd be happy) just give us more than 30 effing seconds...geez

I think his danger is important, so not just throwing him up whenever somebody wants to see his bare chest is actually a more disciplined approach.?

Eric is a multitasker...he can be dangerous and bare chested all at the same time!

Thanks to all who have replied.

I agree that SM looks way more handsome in that interview however ...

I do not think he has described "Bill" perfectly UNLESS AB makes the decision to re-write the character and to reduce Bill's deplorable behavior to "little white lies"

What Bill has done in the books is FAR more insidious than tell a few "little white lies". Ironically, I have ( as a Eric fan)defended book Bill and blamed the Queen for ordering him to seduce Sookie.

But I'm not talking about Bill ... I'm talking about Stephen Moyer and his continued public distortion i.e "Bill IS moral" and Eric is NOT moral" meme.

I believe that SM may be having a hard time accepting his reduced role and therefore continues to remind the public that Bill is the GOOD guy and he TRIES to do the right thing but just like a REAL person he makes "little" mistakes.

Oh, and by the way ... let's all remember that UNLIKE ERIC ... Bill is the MORAL one. This is Stephens effort to keep "Bill" in the public "good guy" light and cast Eric as the "bad guy" light.

I have no respect for this distortion. I have liked Stephen (unlike many Eric fans) but, should he continue to take this petty stance, I will lose respect for him.

i doubt that we will see the day that Alex makes statements such as "Well Eric ... UNLIKE Bill always tells the truth, shows respect to Sookie for her own independent decisions, does not treat her in a patriachael manner ...etc

If Alex were making these types of public statements I believe all Bill fans would be asking the same question.

Just sayin

SM is threatened by the AS/Eric popularity and is taking every opportunity to try to defend the Bill character. IMO it is rather desperate, sad and not flattering to SM.

What SM and AB still fail to realize is that no matter how they talk Bill up or talk Eric down, they cannot make us love Bill.

Each reader and each viewer has made their choice to be either a Bill or Eric fan and no one can change anyone's mind.

Luckily for Eric fans it would appear from all the polls, articles and the breakdowns in the number of fan sites that the majority are Eric fans. AB finally admitted in his interview;Eric and Sookie are fated. So I think this is becoming apparent to him.

He also said Bill and Sookie will always be connected and Bill will not be marginalized, He did not say Bill would be Sookie's love interest. Connected could mean just like they are in the book and not marginalized could mean he will have his own storyline like Jason does.

I have to kind of agree with you mims I dont know if Im that big a fan of AS so much as a big Eric fan. Don't get me wrong I think AS is a really attractive guy but only when he is Eric do I Swoon completely and utterly.

On your first point I have to sorta disagree I don't think Bill looked that much more attractive IMO in S1 the reason I was almost hot for him back then is cause he was sorta a badass (ie. when he glamored the cop) he was more like book bill. I don't think his hair was that much better in S1 either cause it looked so effing greasy at least in S2 he looks like his hair is washed. But he wasn't as pale in that season which definatly helped him look better, Oh and he did dress alot cooler in S1.

Oh and P.S. I wasn't hot for Eric until he got rid of the wig either.

Hilarious, rather bitter, but altogether true IMO.

I think Stephen was MUCH better looking in season 1. Of course in season 2, they changed his hair (why god why the bangs!!) and make-up and he looks soooo small next to Eric. Also, and this is a big one, Eric wasn't around all that much in Season 1. Good lord knows, even with season 1 Eric, I couldn't cope with that WIG. I'm so relieved they got rid of that monstrous thing.

I'm totally rambling now just so you know, but I'm not sure I find Alex that attractive out of character. When he plays eric he has this glint in his eye that is very very attractive. I suspect though that intensive research will be required to fully determine just when and how I find Alex attractive.

He does make a lot of excuses for Bill, doesn't he? I guess those of us who watch the show will be the ones to judge Bill in relation to Eric. For me, it is just a matter of Eric accepting what he is and acting on it. He should not be criticized for being normal, LOL.

The best thing that ever happened to AS was losing the role of Bill to SM. Eric may not be the "lead" but he is the better character, IMO. I bet, if you asked AS, he would say the same.

I think he was just trying to defend Bill, though, much like AS tries to defend Eric. What he said would have been fine minus that one little reference to Eric. Unfortunately, SM likes to talk alot...have you noticed? So, with a person like that, it is inevitable that something will come out the wrong way from time to time.

I think SM described his character perfectly. He seems to really grasp the role of Bill and how he should be portrayed according to the writing. He looks very handsome with the lighter hair and tan.

I agree LOTF ... sookie will Ned to be more mature if she has any hope of hooking up with the Viking ...lol

Now ... I gonna go someplace that might piss some people off but I have a real question and concern and this is it.

WHY does SM continue to push the "Unlike ERIC ...Bill is the MORAL one' meme via this interview?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGhPpXnYyBg&feature=player_embedded#

I just don't understand why Stephen feels the need to continue to cast "Bill" as the "poor misunderstood vampire" and minimize Bill's behavior describing his betrayal as" little white lies" ...PUBLICLY.

We have NEVER seen Alex make a single statement or judgment concerning the character "Bill"

We do not see Alex making statements like "yeah well, Bill's not who you think he is" OR anything close to that. ALL Alex has ever said is that Eric is more than just a "badass evil" vampire.

Alex accepted a lesser role knowing that he would have very little screen time for TWO YEARS and he was GRACIOUS and has never once complained.

It is his TURN to have a more main central role. And not only that even with his limited screentime the entire country LOVES and can't wait for "MORE" Eric ...lol

I just don't get why SM continues to publicly differentiate the roles as "Bill" UNLIKE Eric ... is the MORAL one.

Am I being too sensitive or does anyone else see this as annoying? Sorry if this pisses anyone off but I think it is an appropriate question open for discussion.

These are some great points. Of course we women want our knight in shining armor, but when he becomes so protective as to not let us live our own lives, it becomes smothering.

I agree that Bill treats her like a child and I don't think he's that in-tune to what she really needs. I'm very interested to see how Season 3 turns out.

And I apologize for the text you quoted from another member going missing and the part in your post saying it was edited by me. Nothing was done wrong there on your part so you can just ignore that.
