No book talk here!

I think we need a thread where nobody brings up the books or introduces spoilers, so here it is.

The discussion here is about the show as Alan Ball presents it. Speculation is encouraged - based on the show. Spoilers, from the books or anything outside what HBO has shown us, are not. There are plenty of other threads for that.

If you're new to these threads - WELCOME! Jump in and tell us what you think.

Maybe...I just hope it doesn't mean Eggs is a Benedict Arnold type.

my little humble opinion.

i hate it when people get down on bill for being so protective of sookie. he's never had a relationship or been in love with a human woman before. he doesn't know what to do with himself. and sookie gets hurt every time he turns around. he's just scared to lose her because like eric said last night (adn it really cracked me up) "Humans don't keep well". Plus Bill is from a time when chivalry was as natural as breathing. I'm just waiting for him to throw his coat over a muddy spot of road for sookie to walk over.

My dumb question is how did Godric get out of being detained to help Sookie fight off Gabe??

Where the H$!! did he come from??

My take on Maryann and Eggs is this:
"Eggs" is called Eggs as an affectionate nickname from Maryann to give "Eggs" a new persona so that he can fulfill all of her dirty deeds - If she were to refer to "Benedict" as "Ben" he would be the same person he was (seemingly good hearted but lost soul) "Eggs" seems to keep him under her spell....

wandaroo, I think a vampire series is entitled to be a little gross. The scene last week was the first time we've seen a "real" vampire scene, I think, with people being bloodily murdered, and it made an important point that Bill has come a very long way from his origins with Lorena.

I'm curious that this stuff makes you gag and the scene with someone being hung upside down to drain his blood (or was it her) in season 1 didn't. No to mention Eddie and Longshadow imploding when they were staked.

Is it the sex rather than the blood that bothers you?

Sorry I think True Blood is getting a little sharky. Orgies with cow heads and the bloody scene in bed with that other coup0le last week? Is the point to gross people out as much as possible? I liked it at first now I think it's starting to make me gag

Misguided, lack of, or strongly felt, everything is loyalty based. Lorena suffers from Bill's lack, Jason escapes after defending his sister, Eric is driven by his to Godric, Hugo has none.... Other than Daphne, Maryanne seems to not be able to obtain it and must resort to, for lack of a better word, magical control over others.

Oh, one more thing. If this entire Maryanne story has been concocted as based on her trying to get the one who got away, then AB has been wasting a lot of time that could have been much better spent elsewhere.

Rbgirl, yes, I agree - loyalty is a big theme. Including misplaced loyalty, like Daphne's to Maryann.

Is Eggs' loyalty to Maryann real loyalty? Or is it just because he is controlled by her?

Yes Mila, exactly. I remember that from last season too. Terry said people don't listen to him, but they should....and that he's known killers, and "Jason isn't one of them."
Totally; Terry is introspective, nothing escapes his attention. And he's sensitive too.

Yep, lucky for Bon Temp.

Alchemicachick: I agree with you about Terry, I am thinking his condition also plays into it because other don't remember things he probably thinks that he should and wonders about what is going on with that. People in his condition sometimes have flashes of memories that of course they want to forget but then when he doesn't remember the stuff that been going on it bothers him because he probably spends a lot of time processing his thoughts just to make certain he keeps things in perspective. He did say that people don't listen to him but they should. Just a thought...
