No book talk here!

I think we need a thread where nobody brings up the books or introduces spoilers, so here it is.

The discussion here is about the show as Alan Ball presents it. Speculation is encouraged - based on the show. Spoilers, from the books or anything outside what HBO has shown us, are not. There are plenty of other threads for that.

If you're new to these threads - WELCOME! Jump in and tell us what you think.

They didn't tie things up neatly for us at all. Everyone is wondering the same thing about Sam and the Bull. Someone says he wears a belt buckle with a bull on it. So I have to look for that not that I think that's how he did it but maybe it ties to where he has been.

Mila, yeah - probably. He has vampire strength - he could have just carried him away.

OK, I can live with that. But he couldn't fly away until he saw the owl. Oh well...

Yeah. Didn't they notice that soil does magical transforming things to Maryann?

I almost wrote they need a binding spell, Bon temp needs a real voodo priestess someone to tell them how to do things right.

I agree, but Maryann says Sookie should feel someone around her or does she feel someone around her. So someone who kicks their ass kicked as much as Sookie has protection around her, ok.

I think she would have flipped.

Hey everyone!

Oh yes, absolutely...putting Maryann's remains in the earth was a big smeging mistake. Geeze. Remember that kid from The Ring scolding his mother because she arranged to have Samara's bones buried?
They should have burned Maryann's leftovers and stuck them in a magical box that comes with some kind of binding spell...errr, or something like that.

Yeah, Mila, Jason's sexual appeal is his gift, I get that....but I guess I'm just earning for more info on how the Stackhouse "gift" shows up differently in indiviuals and such.

Damn, I wonder how the Queen would have reacted had Bill ACTUALLY married Sookie.

Anyone else feel Eric's disappointment when the Queen suggested that he just do what he does best....i.e., not be the hero and just cover his ass.

And once again I ask....What would the Queen have to gain by giving her blood to V dealers?

I would think Bill moved and healed him right before the transformation and not a moment too soon. I think Sookie didn't know people would remember and was happy that Sam shared something with Bill.

Taking a stab at this, I assume since Sam seem to have travelled quite a bit before making his final stop in Bon Temp he may have worked many places like ranches or even on a rodeo where he saw a bull. My eldest brother did that so I am using that one.

I recalled the Vermont wedding thing because last season at the end they showed them all in the bar watching a vampire/human couple marry on the news saying that type of marriage was approved in Vermont and Arlene made a marry to Bill comment to Sookie.

Well, Bill had to heal Sam before he could move, and I guess I assumed that he changed into a bull then. But since his pants were just in the bushes beyond the clearing, I guess that's where he changed.

But where was the bull he imprinted on?

So why was Sookie making a big thing about how great it was that Sam had revealed his nature in front of the whole town. Unless she didn't realize that they wouldn't remember.

Also, watching it again, I remember that I was puzzled by plane tickets to Vermont. But of course, Vermont is the state where vampires and humans can marry.

No one remembers or maybe Tara. She says she didn't remember then she said she did because Sookie help her remember. Hell I don't remember now.

Sookie ran into the woods and Maryann chased her there and Sam changed into a bull. The chase scene allowed Sookie to lure Maryann away from everyone so no one saw Sam change into the bull and kill Maryanne except for Sookie and Bill I guess and then you are correct Jason and Andy were nearby.

OK, so no-one remembers what happened before Maryann died, right?

So did Sam really come out, if nobody remembers? (He changed into a bull before Maryann died, obviously.)

I'm pissed at Sookie, too. Sam's OK, Bill's staggering, exhausted, because he gave Sam too much blood. So what does Sookie do, after cuddling him? Offer him some blood to help him recover? Hell no - she orders him to bury the body. With big strong Jason and Andy standing around...

Hello Merce, Alchem

Sorry I was finally getting my thoughts together didn't know you were there.

Jason has the part that people are drawn to him that attraction part. Sookie apparently has more with the reading minds and such. When Jason went to Fangtasia and was comforted by Pam she glamoured him because he all out told her he wanted her blood when he was looking to score V. Sookie is gifted and Jason is gifted lite.

I found the finale a bit of a let down but I sort of expected it. I mean so much of the season had already gone down hill. I swear about 20 minutes in the show I was so bored. If they had planned a bit better and moved the episodes around a bit where Godric leaving and Bill's vampnapped would have been a very good ending. I did enjoy Sam very much, the stretching out his character more, his acting his buns. I loved the bull what a beautiful animal. I wasn't suprised by Jessica she had no guidance, feels she lost Hoyt and well you have it.

They should have allowed Eggs to kill himself that's where he was headed eventually, but they needed some plot for Jason and for Andy to finally proclaim to be a hero. I guess, but stupid.

Maryann, well she was mystical creature that we spent month researching her myth only for her tell us in about 3 minutes flat. She was a maenad who was 10 kinds of crazy, I should have figured that out when she was running around in that mask. They buried her which is probably a mistake, we all know how that usually turns out in the supernatural world.

I thought the scene with Sookie and Bill was sweet and the dancing. I knew when she went to the ladies room he would be gone. This is why all the Eric, Sookie and Bill sandwich stuff that was going on. Hopefully next season we get a better cohesive season.

Yes Merce, I too wondered about Jason being taken by Maryann so easily. Sookie's not fully human, as Maryann surmised, so that would means the same goes for Jason....what? He didn't get the weird, non-human genes at all?

I assumed Sam has had practice turning into a lot of animals before he came to settle in Bon Temps. As for him getting untied, I credited Bill with that....before or after he gave Sam some of his blood.

Eric missed all the action, hmmm. I wonder if that means Sam will still owe him a favor. I wonder if the only reason for that business meeting scene at Fangtasia was to get Eric's to the Queen's so we could get the big reveal about the V selling.

Yeah man, Eric's pusing the V and it's the Queen's blood! What on earth could she be getting out of it?

I"m glad to see others were as troubled as I was at how quickly Jason fell to MA's influence. I posted some thoughts on that in the "Jason" thread. I think Eggs had to go, one way or the other, because he was too damaged to do anyone any good number one, and also because this sets up a good story for Tara and Sookie, since Sookie helped Eggs get back his memory of what he'd done.

Where was the bull? In the entire MA story line - sorry, I couldn't help myself...

I'm guessing (Sam mentioned some pretty in depth coordination with Bill) that turning into a bull to give MA the horn was discussed by them. Loose interpretation could be implied here that Sam imprinted a bull previously to be able to change when needed. How in the heck did he get untied? Turn into Superfly then become bullish on MA?

Just happy the dark eyed menace is over with - it just went on for a two episodes to many.

Here's a toast to season 3...
