Boring Bill Sucks (and not in a good way)

Skarsguadians, Northman's Nymphs and Viking Vamps; Here is the place you can unload your true feeling about the character Bill Compton on TB and in the books.

zirwinger,

Bill was forthcoming to a point, he said that he would be able to sense he emotions and all that but he left out the fact that she would become sexually attracted to him!
All he said was that it will increase your "Libido" and that is all. And I started a whole thread about why I think the whole beating up of Sookie in the first place was a set-up, so don't get me started on that. He never told her about the sexual attraction from the blood because he wanted her to think that her feeling were entirely natural and that they had nothing to with his blood! It wasn't until Sookie had some of Eric's blood did he tell her the truth.

camporese29,

You make a good point. Sookie would've been toast if Eric hadn't shielded her. However, in Eric-land, this means he's now entitled to manipulate and lie to her. After all, little blood sack that she is, what do her personal feelings matter to him?

This is another difference of real integrity between Bill and Eric. When Bill saved Sookie and gave her his blood, he told why he was doing it and, in a very real sense, she had a choice; she had the knowledge of what was going on. That's because Bill respected her.

Sounds like a Bill worshipper making excuses to gloss over his lies of omission.

What Eric did was a mischievious little game which his book character is known for - you probably haven't read the books or you would know that. And considering that he just risked his life to save her I think it was a mighty small thing which was probably motivated by the fact that he realized that he gave a sh*t whether she lived or died. By giving her his blood he has a way to know when she's in danger. All without controlling her which is what Beeel tries to do. And I'll beat you to Bon Temps - he knew Bill was way ahead of him when he was at QSA's. No point in rushing just to deal with Bill. Lastly, all those things you so loooove about Beeel are things AB took from Eric in the books to plump him up OR NO ONE WOULD LIKE HIM.

And now that you mention this, you must realize that Bill was the one that schemed to get Sookie to drink his blood long before Eric came to the scene...He left with the Rattrays because he's mainstreaming and trying to be human again?? You've got to be kidding. He was sent there by QSA and found out he got the right girl when she followed them. 173 year old vamp is not going to know what drainers are...YEAH RIGHT.

For most of the viewers who are still waiting for Prince Charming to arrive on a horse and take them from the prom straight to a fairytale castle in the clouds.
For the viewers who have and have had real adult relationships...well you read the threads, there's a reason the fanbase is 70% Eric 30% Bill.

If the spotlight is taken off Bill/Sookie HALELUJAH! we have reached AB's ears! Time will go to other characters and actors who are worthy of the limelight. BTW, that's how it is in the books too. ;)

I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES THIS CAN BE SAID, SOOKIE WOULD BE DEAD, IF ERIC HADN'T SHIELDED HER END OF STORY. SOOKIE COULD HAVE REFUSED HIM BUT SHE DIDN'T CAUSE SHE FELT OBLIGATED TO HIM FOR SAVING HER LIFE.

-Who's to say that Bill has to run and report everything in his life asap to Sookie as if they're an old married couple? He didn't deny it as he was simply coming to terms with the Jessic issue.

-A better example of a deliberate, low down lie would be Eric pretending to be in serious danger after the explosion and asking Sookie to suck out the silver schrapnel when he really just wanted her to have his blood in her system. Seriously, how many of you women (or men) would like to be manipulated into doing something disgusting--especially when it's giving someone a way "in" to your mind/psyche--out a false sense of obligation or plain deceit? swtp555,

I never said Bill was a saint anywhere in any of my comments on this board. Your exaggeration makes it easier to dismiss your points.

I don't want to view some bullsh#t sci-fi channel "supernatural" show that is all violence, fantasy and darkness that panders to adolescents and fans of horror. That's what shows like "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer," "Angel" and the assanine "Charmed" are for.

If you mean mush, well, I can tell you that what I like (and what's made the show a hit) is the southern gothic atmospheric quality to the show. And the identifiable working class characters, with real lives & problems, who happen to have encounters with the supernatural.

And there isn't anything else like it--in terms of combining reality with fantasy with irony, metaphor and satire--on television right now. Some knock offs have come out, but no where close to TB.

As far as daytime dramas, I don't know. Fill us in on the details.

The Bill/Sookie romance was brilliant and made Season One and is a major reason why the show became so successful. Not the only reason, but a big one. Maybe, for you--and other book fans--it wasn't, but for most of the viewers it was a big deal.

As for your exaggerated comment about Alan Ball catering to the "hundreds of Bill fans"--yeah, right, just a few hundred. lol!--who wanted a fairytale romance is plain nonsense. Sookie's relationship with Bill was all about metaphorical themes that mirrored real life situations.

In Season Two it was truncated for a number of reasons and that's it, we'll have to see what happens. But, if the spotlight is taken off of Bill and or/Sookie, the show will be on it's way out.

EVERYONE(on the show and in the real world) is capable of doing great evil, it's just fact.
I know it might make your life or viewing of the show more pleasurable if you have one character to pin all bad deeds on but that is rarely the case.

Ok, Bill does not suck. He was really forlorn in the second season, but that was only because Alan Ball is preparing everyone for the big secret that he might reveal in season three. When I first saw the proposal I thought, OMG he's trying to trap her in a marriage before telling her the truth, bad move bill. But i do think he really loves her. he's just extremely selfish and wants her all to himself, which is a part of his vampiric nature I believe.
