That last bit made me LOL.
All true though.
At the moment I'm having a hard time imagining what a S/E pairing is going to look like with this Sookie.
Hopefully Bill going missing will screw her head on straight. God knows she can't much more annoying and stupid...can she??

I think if Sookie was portrayed as a confident, sexy, humorously devious yet still darling like she is in the books we would find her worthy of the best vampire character, our Eric. Since he is so richly complex and always conflicted with interest, there is no bore in pertinence to him. Series Sookie is NOTHING like what I listed above. She is some whiny pathetic damsel in distress who creams in her pants when a banged Bill rushes into church screaming SUCKIE........

Ugh. Goes to show you that if she was properly developed and portrayed like the spitfire CH created her to be it would be lovely to see such a fight over her. The swooning of Bella Swan all over again is how it is translated on screen to anyone who isn't in love with the idea of Bill and her being meant to be.

I believe that the queen agrees with you. Do you remember when she warned Eric not to feed from Sookie lest he end up like Bill? But I also remember that the first time Bill fed from Sookie, she turned her neck to the side and shove it up to his mouth. If she did the same thing to Eric, would he be able to resist?

I like a vamp who is arrogant and deserves to be so - like Eric, who is honest about how manipulative he is, and who respects a woman who slaps him in his face and just says "Glad to see you're feeling better."

> Other than Eric saying, I'll take the girl...

Well he also offers to take Sookie in exchange for keeping Jessica longer.
Again, he suggests the trade off because that is a common Vampire practice when a human 'is MAHN'
It is also for this reason Bill takes Sookie to Fangtasia to read minds in the first place.
Bill had to comply because Eric is his Sheriff.
Again, one would figure this out just by watching the show. I figured it out when Eric informed Sookie that helping him out would be a great favor to not only him but to Bill Compton. To me, that meant Sookie was sort of obligated to help out Eric because she belongs to Bill and Bill resides in Eric's area.

Yes, min. I agree, but many feel the need to use that one guest appearance for AS episode as fuel to say he is morally corrupt as a sheriff of Area Nine.

This is what pisses me off. AB gives us enough qualities, attributes, and situations that clearly show Eric does bad things. These fans, mostly pro-Billo, feel the need to downplay and question the good parts that are rarely shown and demonize the bad into evil and even add more bad traits that are completely fabricated.

Other than Eric saying, I'll take the girl, I have yet to see any proof to show he is a corrupt sheriff. He takes vampire law and politics rather seriously, and he doesn't give two shits about being called ruthless or deviant, or manipulative. What he does want, though, is respect and the knowledge that he is a trusting and loyal sheriff to the vampirical hierarchy.

This is how it was written. Whether this material is used for Alan, we don't know yet. Presently, nothing otherwise has shown corruption of sheriff. Subject matter has been given, though, by Bill (more than once) and Pam that Eric is one of the better sheriffs who are loyal and *more* fair and understanding.

I am with you Tempting. We are not asking anyone to agree with us, or even participate in the thread... but those of us who do not feel that Bill is the Saint he is portrayed as, for WHATEVER reason, should be allowed to discuss that aspect of Bill's character without being ridiculed or forced to defend ourselves. If people want to read about how awesome and fabulous Bill is, go read a different thread! There are plenty of people who think he is great, which is their prerogative, and they should leave us alone!

'SUKKEH IS MAHN'=ownership of human.
ownership of human=a 'chip' a vamp can barter with

Requesting someone's human is a fairly standard practice amongst Vampires or at least I would gather as much based on what I have seen on the television show, True Blood.

I just wanna say that I think this is getting ridiculous. Fans who are upset with the series and the vision its partaking at the moment (aka Alan Ball), or book fans, or even Eric fans in general are always getting ridiculed and directed out of threads where they speak their criticism and opinions of Bill, or Alan, etc.

You complain when every other thread is filled with critical opinions and personal opinions on Bill, the show, the vision, Alan Ball, etc. It simply turns into a battle royale of Eric V Bill, Good V Evil, Eric fans V Bill fans every single time.

So we make our OWN THREAD, about Bill. Where those fans who feel the same can voice their opinions, be negative if they want, and hear what us with similar feelings have to say.

You then come into this thread and hijack it defending Bill, and Alan, and the TRUE BLOOD SHOW ONLY vision, and yadda yadda yadda.

You don't want us spawning our opinions on any other threads, so we make our own negative show Bill thread to harvest it all, and you come in and hijack it anyway spitting what ifs, show only, book reading is bad nonsense?

If you don't like the negativity and our thoughts of Bill, then get out. I am all for a good debate but half of those who are guilty of this won't let us use the books for factual basis, because "books are bad, TB is its' own show, Bill is God, Bill is love", so we use the few scenes and lines we have since Eric in question is often shown in a good light, a la AB. So then all we have is the PLENTIFUL stock CH and even AB leaves us open to interpretation and discussion and that only provokes responses of us being crazy. You have the other threads. Bunch of masochists.

This is where you as an uneducated Sookie Stackhouse Novel/True Blood fan comes into play. He is not respecting the books by bashing CH's characters that she spent years complicating and progressing by his horrendous season two defamation. However, this is my personal opinion and is beside the point but I felt the need to say such because its the proper thread to do so.

He bought rights to use the books, and CH states on site, "I chose Alan Ball to bring the Sookie books to the screen because I trust his vision, and I am sure he will be true to the spirit of the books. I am delighted with the talented cast, Alan?s scripts and direction, and the look and feel of the production. "

Now this response is a wise one because she gets paid to be happy and carefree about what he does (she gets $$$) and she says she trusts him. It can be argued how true he is staying to the spirit of the books, but since its only two seasons (the two books that base the rise of Eric Northman, he is introduced so low since Bill is there he can only get higher and higher). Anyway, even the True Blood opening credits "Bad Things" has.. "BASED ON THE SOOKIE STACKHOUSE NOVELS BY CHARLAINE HARRIS".

It is his own baby, sure, but everything about it was given to him from CH. He put his own input and spin and changes, yes. But it is BASED on the book series. To refute this is plain ignorance.

Nobody relies on the books but rather many of us, more than the quoted 5% I am sure, read and love the books and watch TB because of it. The drama, the characterization, and the attributes in it is working as it is. It is not broken, so why fix it? Fix it, and fix it so bad to please Bill fans so that out of the nine books the series is based on, the first two are the only ones that matter and stick because of Bill-Sookie? Meh.

Excellent point, trackfan.

What I got from the show (and that episode) is that Bill protected Sookie out of a genuine growing love for her. That's what the show clearly presented.

Now, some may laugh at that or think it weak, but that is how the TB Bill is evolving. He's valiant--or trying to be. Case in point: he didn't want to turn Jessica, he pleaded to have the horrific maximum imprisonment of being silver chained in the coffin. When he realized he had to turn her, he tried to make it less painful by glamouring Jessica. When that wasn't allowed, then, yes, he did what he had to do. Is Bill a saint? Hell, no. Is he trying to be a better man? Yes.

*********************************************

Well that is a good point indeed BUT what happened to Bill when he realized he had to explain his new "child" to Sookie?? Bill dropped the poor, newly made Jessica of at Fangtasia for Eric and Pam to tend to. Spent a lot of time wooing Sookie and did not tell Sookie of Jessica's existence until Jessica was in his house taking a friggen shower and he had no choice. Hmmmm.... Like the Sookester said to Bill if Eric had Kept Jessica would Bill have ever told Sookie about Jessica?? I think not, same thing about the Uncle Barty incident, if Sookie had not found out on her own Bill would not have volunteered that info.
