If there was never a show I would say Bill so far. (I cant wait for Eric to be seem more on the show) After reading all of the books it's Eric all the way. Book Bill is boring and Sookie knows it. I think she regrets serving him that glass of red wine in the first chapter in book one.

I agree with Stace34 10/12. but with Eric they can laugh together and he might be strong enough to protect her.

Toss up betwen the two, i haven't got very far in the series. Possibly Sam...I mean he is a shapeshifter sooo. What if he looked at Colin Ferrell, or Brad Pitt. I get he is all about the animals but just what if. ummm the possibilites are endless.

You know I was thinking the same thing the other day. The series is going in a different direction than in the books especially with Bill going to trial for saving Sookie from Longshadow (as to be seen in upcoming episode). I hope we see more of Eric and Sookie towards the end of this season. Between books 4 - 8, Bill was hardly mentioned.

I think that there is a good chance that Alan Ball may have a twist or two in mind for the Bill character yet. Plus I think that it is there time apart was important for both of these characters to grow.

Bill is a Southerner who has never had to learn how to warm a woman's cold bed--Eric is a Norseman with centuries of experience on just that topic--No one can beat the men from Northern Europe, the Danes, Swedes ,Norwegians who have those long, long, cold, cold nights to practice their skills!!!!

Eric "may" seem to be the one in the books, but not on the show. AB has transformed Bill into such a likable character. Stephen Moyer has Bill into so much more than Ms. Harris's books. Her books are magical, but AB has taken it to a whole other level. SM has won me over and is the main reason I watch the show.
I know Eric will become more prominent in the remaining 6 episodes, so it will be interesting to see how AB handles it.
Again, this is just my opinion as I don't want to insult all the Eric diehards out there.

I'm all about Eric. Bill is a putz. I can't stand him. Well, I USED to like him. But book 4 changed my mind. I also have a major crush on Alexander skaarsgard, so that certainly helped my decision ;o) Did you SEE him half naked in Generation Kill??? **breathless**

Also he said that he would bring Sookie to his side, basically to rule with him, and all vampires under his authority would honor her.
Eric is very responsible and tries to do what is best for those under his authority, humans and vampires. He is very savvy is his dealings with other vampires. I think without all his responsibilities he would be more like he was in book 4. I think that was a glimpse of the real Eric under all the outer trapping of position and power.
Also after 1000 years he was looking for a companion. Partly why he turned Pam. Sookie is also looking for a companion something she did not feel with Bill. If she were to end up with a vampire then I think it would be Eric. But as another poster mentioned Sookie wants a more normal life I think. We got a glimpse of that when she was with Quinn. So in the end I think it will be Sam.
But I want it to be Eric.
