Hey all, so even though "food" does not really figure into the show unless it is the red liquid variety...are there any foodies and/or chefs out there who want to contribute some True Blood-inspired recipe ideas? Because sometimes, if I've got time, I'll try to cook a meal that fits w/ whatever movie or series I'm watching. Dorky? You bet!! But fun, sooo... ...for example, I was excited about the first episode of TB, so I made a red wine braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes. Then last week I made a chili (I know that's more "Texas" but hey...it's the South!) I'm familiar w/ creole recipes (creole chicken, jambalaya, etc) but I know nothing about Northern LA cooking... I was thinking that perhaps if there are any chefs out there, they might come up with a recipe for the unofficial Merlotte's Burger, to share here? And any other True Blood-inspired recipes to recommend?? Thanks and here's to some tasty bites for all! -- Who dat?! Go Saints!!!

shoekabam Last shish-k-bob's I did, we put on pork loin, green peppers, onions and nectarine wedges-have tried pineapple, and that is yummy, too. We marinated them in orange juice, ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes & olive oil. (we thickened some of the marinade with honey and set it aside before we marinated with it.) We brushed it with the honey mixture while we grilled the k-bobs. they were awesome.

Pig Pickin in the south is a BBQ, right Mafiosa? Isn't it a southern colloquialism? Interesting.. I love southern food.. Have lived out west all my life.. But when I am around southerners, I feel at home.

It's so yummy and moist, huh? I like it best from the fridge after it's been baked a couple of days. My sister calls it Sunshine Cake.. Ah, you must be in the south. I've never heard it referred to as sunshine cake anywhere but here. -- "Yield to me."

minalskaran It's so yummy and moist, huh? I like it best from the fridge after it's been baked a couple of days. My sister calls it Sunshine Cake.. MAFIOSA This one is amazing: Vanilla Wafer Cake INGREDIENTS (Nutrition) 1 cup butter 6 eggs 1/2 cup milk 2 cups white sugar 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla wafers, crushed 1 (8 ounce) package flaked coconut 1 cup chopped pecans DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a bundt pan. Cream butter or margarine; add sugar, and beat until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in crushed vanilla wafers alternately with milk. Add coconut and pecans, and mix until blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. Cool. It's like a brownie and a vanilla bundt cake got together and made a baby-oh yeah, baby! (Hoyt's lines)
