Why June 2010?

Hi
I just finished watching season 2 on itunes, so I started looking for when s3 will air. And then I found it.

I just want to know why they will wait like 8 months?
I'm so freakin pissed!

" some of the actors will age beyond their vampire age and no longer be believable in their roles."

Battlestar Galactica had two seasons a year so True Blood could too. If they don't step it up to two books/seasons per year, some of the actors will age beyond their vampire age and no longer be believable in their roles.

Hi Anden, welcome to the forum! I feel your pain. It does seem like an eternity to wait.

I don't know if there's anything to this, but I sort of found a trend in how/when particular shows air - not only HBO, but other networks as well. HBO may be trying to establish True Blood as a summer show. It had launched in September its first year, with the second season beginning in June. Ratings wise that would be a good choice because I'd expect viewership to be higher during summer than say fall when there are is a lot of original programming to watch.

Of course as another trend has been coming along (that of premiering shows at any time of the year) may just make my idea hogwash. But it did waste some time and get us just a little bit closer to season three! LOL

Anden:
One major thing you must keep in mind is this:
Alan Ball has a very big tendency to "Change things
around from the way that they were written by
Charlaine Harris~so even if you read the books you/audience have no real idea as to what he may do!

I'm just hesitating because undoubtedly I will find out major things that are guarantied to be in the show as well.
Like if they get married, if Sookie ever becomes a vampire,
if she all the sudden starts being with Eric instead of Bill, or whatever.

Anden,

You really can read all of the books and not be spoiled for the show. The show is just different enough to keep it really interesting, and it will help in understanding the characters better.

If anything, you might become frustrated that show is not MORE like the books.

Anden,

The tenth SVM book is due out next May, with at least 3 more books to follow. If the popularity of the books continues, perhaps Ms. Harris will write more than 13 books.

Ooops! You beat me to it, Aaine.

Since this is not a spoiler thread and you said you didn't want to know after bk 2, I will just say that by the end of the second book Bill did not propose to Sookie and a proposal wasn't even remotely on the horizon.

Book 10 is due out next May, and Charlaine Harris is contracted to write three more after that, so that will take us to 13 in total. She hasn't decided whether there will be more.

I read the books before I saw the movies, and I loved the books and I can't say the same for the movies.

So yes, I believed I'd like the Harry Potter movies more if I hadn't read the books.

I hope the stuff you said about Bill not proposing was considering the first two books? I do not wan't to know if do ever get married or not in the books, since I have a feeling the show will follow the books on that one.
If it is in fact so that they never get married in all 9 books, don't tell me here so I can live in blessed ignorance :)
Only tell me stuff from the first 2 books.

Also I would want to know if the 9th book is the last, or will there be a 10?

I agree it's a long time to wait, but it is nothing compared to the agony I suffered following Battlestar Galactica. There was well over a year between seasons at one point .. bleh. I toughed it out, but 'twas painful (and rather unsatisfying in the end).

Just one more reason I anticipate summer most of all!
