i do not think bill could have done it because he knows lafayette is sookie's friend ( when lafayette and tara were there after gran was killed)... i think jessica may have killed him because do you remember when eric asked her if she would like to know how a real vampire feeds maybe poor lafayette was in the wrong place at the wrong time...any thoughts?

Lafayette is NOT DEAD! here's why I think he's not:
I think that maybe Bill did feed on him and if not Bill then another vampire because the way the attackers was coming towards him was how it look when Bill goes to save Sookie. What I think is that Lafayette is going to become vampire!!! because if you see in the episode they did not find his body until two weeks later in the car. The car had'nt been parked there that long so he had to have gotten in the car that same night. Maybe fighting for his life? and maybe Bill will then have to become his maker? Could you imagine Lafayette as a vampire that would be pure entertainment because he is a Fab actor! I could only imagine the stuff he'd get into if he was a vampire talk about craziness!
M other theory is that it wasn't Bill or a vampire but a werewolf which I think that chick Maryanne is because remember when Sookie first found out Sam was a shifter and she asked if he was a Werewolf and he said no that they were must basically "bad" "Evil" whatever the exact words were so....maybe he got bit by a werewolf because the way he jumped on the garbage can it did look like it was an animal. All in all he's not dead I refuse to believe it he is too good of a character to just kill off. Whether it was a vampire or werewolf if he becomes anything other than human it's going to be a fun ride and I coming along!

In a nutshell, the Maenads were women who followed Bacchus, the god of wine and became stark raving mad when the god entered them. They cannot be reasoned with and thrive on very large amounts of sex and violence.
Just as an example of how powerful the are... even vampires avoid them.
Thanks Mi1ena: this is the first clear definition I've seen since Maryanne first appeared in the show and the board started discussing Maenads.

yulp i didn't think about that before but when they killed him in the book it was by the maenad's influence wasn't it. they were having orgies and drinking and crap... .

In the book I know who did it. But I have a feeling that AB is going to change it up a bit on HBO, so right now.... no idea. It looks like some kind of animal was coming after him, which would explain why he jumped up on the trash can. I can't imagine if a person was coming after him he would think jumping up on a trash can would save him. Maybe it was the maenad's pig. maybe it was a were.

I'm pretty sure it is Lafayette -- there was an earlier scene where they show him painting his toenails.
And whether the character is not major in the book or not...Amy is hardly mentioned in the books and AB turned her into a major character for the season.
It really does seem like AB is following the path that Charlaine created. He just elaborates on anything that isn't in Sookie's POV.

It's a good theory about Maryanne's pig being the one who made Lafayette climb the Dumpster. He knows what vampires can do and he would know that climbing on top of something just a few feet off the ground would be useless against one. His reaction seemed to be the one expected from someone who just saw something that runs close to the ground about to attack them. Maybe Maryanne has plans for Tara and plans to use Lafayette as leverage and therefore turned Wilbur loose on him in order to corner and capture him?
And since someone has already mentioned about Maryanne being the Maenad, could she have been the reason that Sam was running naked through the woods... after a nightly encounter with her perhaps?

Ok, you have a good theory also. I didn't know what a Maenad was, it's the first time I'm hearing about that. But, why would she go after Lafayette?? Oh, I hope he's not dead, I really liked his character. I never read any of the books, My husband just bought the first book a few days ago, what the hell is a Maenad??

The foot that was hanging out of Andy's car was most
probably LaFayette's and not Lettie mae's.
