Blending improvisation and real life, while the stories are inspired by real events, the dialogue is unscripted.

How closed minded. I love California too but there are tons of great things to see in this country and before you commit suicide from lack of city try traveling a little bit more than just on the highway. Better yet, try seeing the world-you haven't seen anything until you go skiing in switzerland, taste belgian chocolate in belgiium, walk the great wall of china, visit the opera house in Australia, see the poverty and sadness in South Africa, see the mona lisa (not impressive, but seeing it in person is the best part: no book can teach you what travel can), walk around the hall of mirrors in Versaille. It's people like you that give the U.S. a bad name. So self absorbed and judgemnetal about a country (your own) and a world that you haven't really seen. Beleive me-there is something beautiful in every state(even texas).

LA is amazing. It has its parts. I have lived in Cali all my life. Well that is until I got married and the Navy forced us out to Virginia. I want to put a bullet through my head the state is so mind numbing. No parking garages, no city, horrible drivers!!!!! I cant wait to go back to cali, sit myself down in some good ole traffic and flip some people off. At least in Cali people go the speed limit, here they take the scenic routes everywhere, they actually choose to go 30 in a 45, while I am behind them, throwing my arms up and mouthing "what the hell!??!" It is definitely sunny and warm for the most part of the year. And it is beautiful. Anyone who can go, go. Cali has so much to do and so much to see its crazy. I had the opportunity to drive across country twice now, and a third time coming up in august, but when we drove through this was my reaction "this is it? this is the US??? take me back to cali".

I think the show is magnificent but does anyone remember the reality show on Bravo that one was so much more real than this one seems. But I guess thats because that was more of a reality show than Unscripted. Also can anyone remember the name of that show on Bravo the one that followed the actors through auditions and everything if you can reply and give me the name please. p.s Was anyone on here on that show!

This is a great show. Even though I'm not an actor, or in show business at all, I find this show amazing, compelling. I'm so sorry that it's all over now. Will it be back again? Remember - your audience is not made up of just young actors. Us regular folks are watching and loving this series. The interplay between Goddard and Diane is subtle and so true. Very well directed. Thanks to all who have anything to do with the show. More!

LAactress, I enjoy the show, but how is this "very realistic" to what goes on for a real struggling actor? the only one who isn't making enough money on acting alone is Jenn. Krista has a personal assistant (not many struggling actors can afford to pay someone to take messages for them) and brian has by far gotten the most (legit) work and can support himself strictly through acting. In my experience there are many more struggling actors/bartenders/waitresses/starbucks guys than working actors, which is what i would consider Krista and Bryan. Even though this show is designed to show their "struggle" they seem like one of the lucky few who can pay all their bills through acting/modeling. sure, they haven't made it to the stratesphere of SUPERSTAR, but they aren't the masses pawning their family heirlooms, either. I love this show. I love that it is "raw" and draws on real life experiences. I am a struggling actress in L.A. (SAG member) and this show is very realistic of what happens on a day to day basis. Message was edited by LAactress2004 at Feb 14, 2005 8:34 PM

To do a live show (based around improvisation) wouldn't be a question of whether the actors could put up with it for 30 minutes, but whether the audience could. Every 'unscripted' show has writers to come up with concepts, scenes and scenarios (even lines of dialogue). But, it is the actors job to improvise the bulk of the scene based around those stepping stones and starting points. And, needless to say, what you end up watching is the result of editing many, many takes and hours of mostly uninteresting material. The real experimental format of these types of shows exists in the editing. I love all the jump cuts. You don't see that much. It works well in this show. Whether it was an intended style choice or the result of only having one camera for particular scenes, it's cool. I hope the show continues after this first season.

furleyguy - my brother, Jim Haygood, is the editor of the series. I'll forward your message to him since you seem really interested in the editing part of this project. He had a great time working with George Clooney (who apparently is a kick-ass ping-pong player, along with being an all-around fun guy). I'm not sure how this whole message board works, but I'll try to pass Jim's response on to you.

Oh my...I think I just thought of a way to take this show live..and improvised. At least for one episode. Student Film. Some Kid Shooting the Class as a Indy film project on the teacher (you know...in case he dies at some point...they can have footage and be innovative film makers)..One camera (possibly two)tracking. And do it real time. Acknowledge the cameramen filming it. All Live. all improvised. I would personally be tickled to see Live Long Form Improv in this way and if the actors on this show can sustain a 30-60 minute full on improvised story. without editing. Staying in Character. THAT would be innovative. *wow...that is almost marketable as its own show* Here is a Pitch for you.. "5-6-10" Mary Tyler Moore meets edgy K Street with a touch of Anchorman Comedy. But Live. The improvised lives of a television news crew. You follow the lives of the anchors...the guys in the trucks...the producers...and shoot it in that News Channel Look. And it is live. That way you can cut to camera feeds to a truck outside that can also go roaming to site locations outside of the base studio. Set up your base Lazi for the night. Beg middle and end. have your actors get there by the end. All Live. People will watch for the story and Danger of Live Television. And when you look like a news crew...oh the great natural on the street stuff you can do. take it. Don't take it.... -- Shaun Landry My Website Living vicariously through other people's good fortune since 1965
