Bloopers or Inconsistences?

Has anyone ever found any Bloopers or inconsistencies in The Wire??

I've ALWAYS enjoyed bloopers or just knowing "HEY, that wasn't like that in the previous shot" etc. So have YOU found anything that just wasn't quite how it SHOULD be?

In season 3 in the scene where all of the corner kids are in the elmentary school gym. Check this out: Watch Lt. Mello, when Colvin tries to talk you notice that he has his hat on. When the principal takes over the next screen shot he has his hat off!! LOL!!! It is real quick. LOL!!!

Not for the BPD. They were consistantly working with deficient equipment.

Levy was fine with having them talk to guys like Clay Davis, but he asked that they only do so in his presence or they'd get bled dry. My guess is Stringer ignored that advice. As soon as Levy heard about Stringer's dealings with Clay Davis, he clowned Stringer.

Cutty's real name is Dennis and his ex-girlfriend who teaches calls him by his real name.

When she sees him later on when he's doing that truancy thing, she greets him with David and they start talking.

very minor, It can and has snowed around Thanksgiving time in these parts, not as frequently as Cleveland or Chicago, but i day maybe once every 5 or 6 years, we get snow before Xmas , maybe twice in my lifetime, in October, 8th and 11th, but those were total flukes

The biggest one I saw was in season 4. When Omar was in jail, the ground was covered with snow WAY too early in the year. With the season finale set around Christmas, the jail scene would have been late November to early December, and Baltimore is too far south to get snow that early.

That limping and then not limping was a big error to me. You have one of the most popular characters in that season and you let that inconsistency fly in the editing.

Most people thought Omar jumping through that glass of the balcony was not believable, but it was believeable and it did happen. However, that limping and not limping should've been caught.

That was funny....limping...not limping...limping. Maybe they left it to mess with us. You would think they would have caught that right off in the editing booth lol.

kaydoggg,

Rhonda Pearlman said, she would have to recuse herself. Recuse is a legal term to disqualify or seek to disquality from participation.

Hope that answers your question.

There's nothing saying that he didn't. He told Marlo right off the bat not to meet with those cats without him. I can see Stringer feeling smart enough to ignore the advice.

I loved the last episode, but one question I had was:

Could Daniels really argue in court when his girlfriend (or even past girlfriend) is the judge? This is shown in the final scenes showing where everyone ends up.

That seems like such an obvious conflict of interest, but maybe this kind of thing happens all the time? Any lawyers out there know the answer?

> They should've had Omar jump from a lower apartment.
> It was just too high to be believable.

Question: Is it true that Donnie (Andrews, the inspiration for Omar) in real life jumped off a balcony the same height that Omar did?

David Simon: Actually, two floors higher.

Two floors higher?

David Simon: The Murphy Homes. He also jumped off the rail bridge at Poplar Grove, onto the rail bed. That was probably about three stories. And he hurt his ankle. It's just true. Those jumps, by an athletic person, can actually be made and are made, routinely. By a non-athletic person? if I made it, I'd be all over the pavement and they'd pick me up with a spoon. If you made it, they'd pick you up with a spoon. When 28-year-old Donnie Andrews makes that jump because he has to, sometimes he makes it. It's funny: I'm doing this thing now with
recon Marines, "Generation Kill." And some of them had no problem with the jump. They just started telling stories about recon training. I don't know whether to believe them or not, but I do believe Donnie.

It was a story I actually used, I wrote about the first time back in 1990. That story was all through the ghetto: "They had him cornered, and mother______ jumped off the railroad bridge and kept running. Did not want to die that day." But we did want it to feel a little bit mythic, and "What the ____?" because it fit with the general arc of
Greek tragedy.

I never understood why people say McNulty has the Baltimore accent nailed. I've never thought that.

Now Valchek- that is a Baltimore accent! Miss Donnelly at the school has one, too.

I talk to people from other areas for my job, and I always get laughed at for the way I say water (wooder) and wash (woorsh).

Also, Bubs didn't pick his crabs right.

They should've had Omar jump from a lower apartment. It was just too high to be believable.

I think Omar's birthday being wrong on the toe tag was intentional to show that how his death was so insignifigant that they didn't even make an effort to get his stats right.

Now Omar and the limp- that was a BIG mistake. I can't believe the editors missed that one.

If I remember right, they couldn't find Kima when she got shot because someone had turned the street sign around. In a city as poor as Baltimore, it would not surprise me that they don't have GPS in the cop cars.
